This show is so well executed even down to the two shots of Kendall absolutely drowning in grief then eventually sneering gleefully.

I think Freud spoke of the patricide as a *necessity* for the son to become an adult completely. Of course he meant a symbolic patricide (i.e finding your own path etc) but Kendall literally needed his father dead before he could let his spirit out.

The writing of this episode was incredible. The high wire way it moves between so many tones in scenes with so much authenticity is so impressive.

This episode sums up everything I've ever wanted to see In a show about Alexander the Great,and how his last words on his death bed as his General's, Warlords,Sergeants and Leader's from across his empire begged him to officially name an Heir in fear of Rebellion breaking out and destroying the empire,those words were rumored to be To Kratisto or "THE STRONGEST". His empire never was united after his death as it broke in Civil war,maybe a cruel jab that if he couldn't rule his empire then no one would. That scene with Kendall being given the paper carried the Weight of a Prince being given the Crown of the King,or a Roman being Sworn in as Emperor. Logan Roy,like Alexander in real life,couldn't be beaten while he was alive and he always found a way to win and secure his power and people who were loyal to him were rewarded (like Tom and Greg),but as soon as he's dead those 2 shot straight down to the bottom of the totem pole with Tom getting it the worst. Tom went from sitting on the private Jet next to the King,and now he's considered an Unloyal man who only married into family through Shiv ,despite being the one who actually has accomplished something in the eyes of Logan by protecting the Business with the offer of taking the fall for Prison. But pay attention to Roman's look on his face after his short talk with Tom. He doesn't want to follow Kendall,and he knows it was his efforts that not only gave them the Swedish Deal but the future Presidential candidate as well. Shiv got screwed but it's sorta her own fault for not taking after Roman and actually sitting through some Management Training so that her job resume doesn't easily look like she just got a job due to her Daddy owning the company. Marcia was cold Blooded when it came to dealing with Kerri,but I wouldve been like Greg and just kinda been disgusted with her Showing up at all knowing she's not really important to anyone,but she could be apart of a missing piece of Logan's will that no one else knows about.

On and on and on I can go about Kendall and my love of Kendall! Man, he realllllly is growing. I don’t think he’s really even a killer in the way his dad wants him to be, he’s really too traumatized for that. Psychologically speaking, Shiv is really more like her dad. Kendall has too many feelings, feels too much guilt etc. I love how Kendall checked twice with Roman’s thoughts about plan b. He is clearly for it but started to have feelings. Also, loved seeing kendall and Frank AGAIN. You can really see that he is the only “real father love,” in a warmer non narc way. I don’t care if it was underlined or crossed out, his name on the page will haunt him forever. Just like his dad living. So hard to know where you stand with a narc. In a way, and this isn’t the type of “feel good writing,” the show does, but I’d LOVE IF FRANK knew this would help Kendall in some way and did the confusing line BEFORE he called in Carl. We don’t know really know that! Bc he DOES know Kendall. I love that Kendall a) talked to his therapist (famillllly therapyyyyyy 👏👏😂👏👏) and b) took her advice and had a grief session and c) said it helped and genuinely passed along to his sibs that then INSTANTLY started retreating into their trauma response patterns. Glossing over it lightly at first, making jokes, ignoring him. By the time he raises his voice and demands to “quit ignoring me,” he’s already been quietly covertly pushed aside about 10 times… and you can see his face and you can see HAS a new awareness. It’s the beginning of growth, healing etc still a mess, still kendall, but really showing progress. More awesome moments: He continued to ask Shiv to talk and try to address things. Also, that he is now aware of her feelings and can tell she’s angry. That is what makes him NOT his dad and not a killer the way his dad wanted, but a killer in his own way. It may look the same, his actions, moves and optics, but on a personal emotional mental side he is really feeling and it’s weird to watch. Also, he has all these little wins and his family turns instantly and there is nobody to really see all this. Just like growing up. He’s finally addressing it all. He really is a new f-ed up since he lost his dad, but in a way, Can Be the most mentally free between slight awareness, leaning into feelings, seeing his name on a paper (all that his dad could do to show love) and while it will drive him mad, it can release him. Also love, the way he didn’t snap on Tom or Hugo!!! The way he broke a pattern with Stewie and didn’t go transactional but shared what he needed and wanted and true feelings!!! The way he was in the bathroom staring at a line vs doing a line… that smile at the end!!! I JUST LOVE HIM! He is and has been my NUMBER 1 boy!

I think it can still be a mistake for Kendall to turn on his siblings too hard. He DID admit to them at the end of season 3 that he left that dead kid in the lake, so it's not like he doesn't have skeletons to use against him.

I always rooted for him and seeing him fail twice already was tough. the only thing keeping him back was his father. now that he is gone i feel hes more free to truly become the killer but better as he told logan before. I hope he does things better than Logan like not alienating his family and siblings.

All Kendal ever needed was Logan to tell him he believed in him. Once he knew Logan did have that belief, he turned into the Golden Son that was promised.

I'm sorry, is Tom saying all that to Shiv partially to get back in her good graces, bc now his protector is gone??? I didnt notice when I first saw this, but Tom talks to each sibling. If he's trying to get support from Rome and Ken... he's basically also doing that with Shiv?

Kerry is interesting because every relationship on this show is deeply transactional. Logan seems to like sharp ambitious women (at least the ones he dates) and so it's just a fact of life that they are interested in his money and power, it's not even a bad thing for him. The "love" is so tied up with money that Kerry can be legitimately grieving Logan AND be desperately clinging to power. Those feelings are the same when you love Logan.

The line started under the K which makes me think it was meant to be underlined, but who knows

Omg! The funniest parts of this is always Roman! He fucking made the best comment about the Ny Globe pic of Logan saying he’d only smile like that if “a hobo were on fire”, mumbled how Logans’s “friends” names were “what’s his face?” and “get that fucker away from me!” And always gives my life, every damn episode!! Altho Tom’s mumbling comments were hilarious to Greg too… his assessment. This was another awesome episode!!! Great reaction! I read an article recently that Kendall may become Richard the III this season… I re-read some Shakespeare, & woah!!! If he is, this will be a hella ending where once he has the power he is at a loss of what to do with it, & roman/shiv would be able to realize they want more out of life, & learn from him. This show is crazy good

As much as we all want to see Kendall succeed. We all know deep inside he is gonna fuck this up. The show wouldn't really be realistic with a happy ending. What I think happens is a shit show through til the bitter end.

What stands out to me is that doesn’t matter if it’s underlined or crossed out because what matters is that his name was there at all. Why isn’t anyone mentioning that if Logan had enough time to mention Greg how come he never thought to mention his other kids? Rather he crossed out Kendall or not doesn’t mean anything to mean; him not mentioning Shiv or Roman says more to me

Every time I want to feel bad about Ken going against his siblings, I remember that they were all perfectly okay with Logan sending him to prison for shit he had nothing to do with, AND after he was the ONLY one that did great on the trial, and that they STILL stuck by Logan and iced him out when he tried to take a stand afterward and only ever checked up with him when they believed he tried to commit suicide & suddenly all my sympathy goes away, like Kendall owes NO loyalty to them at this point. Also Kendall's middle name being Logan really got to me and I don't know why, like this whole time he was a Jr. and we didn't know, also like people pointed out on twitter his initials are literally KLR, HE'S A KILLER FR.

This seems like it could have all happened as the natural conclusion to season 1. Kendall becomes a killer like his dad, Logan succumbs to his health complications, Tom and Shiv are on the outs and acknowledging their situation. It's like seasons 2 and 3 were the kids' futile attempts at changing their fates all for nothing, kendal tried destroying his dad when he couldn't become him, and he ended up becoming him anyway.

I am rooting for Kendall but as Tom once said "I ve seen you get f*cked" so I am still a bit wary. Coz we all KNOW Kendall is good at rising from the bottom. What he is bad at is maintaining control. He was most of the time too emotionaly volitile and unstable, which I am still not sold on he got fully under control...but we shall see if he is destined to be a killer or get killed...coz in the path he chose, those are the only 2 outcomes and I am still not sold on him being emotionally strong enough to not fold under that pressure.

I feel bad for Shiv because if she thought they were icing her out then, they are REALLY gonna ice her out when she tells them she's pregnant because she's a woman in the boardroom. Shiv might be the youngest sibling but it's interesting watching Roman as the youngest brother. He is extremely defensive of his dad even though he abused him. Connor is just trying to take his stuff which I get because Logan didn't really do shit for him emotionally. I agree with someone's comment about how Logan needed to die in order for Kendall to wake up and rise. It's like royalty, the heir can only rise when the monarch dies.

I think Logan was messing with his children by underlining Kendall’s name, to finally separate the weak from the strong among them.

Ever since the pilot, the only thing keeping kendal from becoming his dad was Logan himself. Just as he was ready to take the spot, Logan swoops in and knocks him down. For as much as Logan made Kendal hate him, the kid took his spot literally the day after he died.

Honestly I think Kendall is gonna cosplay as Logan for a bit but ultimately implode. We see throughout the show that he can be as toxic and cutthroat as his dad but he doesn’t have the finesse or experience and he always fizzles out. I don’t think he can pull it off. I don’t think any of the kids can.

Is Kendal forgetting that Shiv knows what happened at her wedding? The only dirt that has been used to control Shiv in the past was about Tom. Shiv doesn’t like Tom anymore and she knows about Romans d pics(I can’t remember how the jet was resolved)+ the car crash. I think she’s the only one of the siblings that doesn’t have a possible court case hanging over her head besides her divorce. I can’t really picture her as a mother so I’m thinking she might have a miscarriage but who knows the show might surprise me.

tbh, I really surprised by how much everyone dispice Tom and Greg and how both were dumbed down in this episode, they really act so much out of tone compared with how the inteactions were in past episodes and seasons and the kids, the all guard, etc, looked like they really hate those guys whem in the end, Tom and Greg did nothing different that the rest of the characters to be in the place they are....or am I missing something? may be is because they dont have "blue blood" running in their veins?

As a Shiv hater, this episode was very satisfying

You always come across as a really cool guy, but I'm struggling to watch these videos any more because of how frequently you look away from the screen during crucial moments (!) Seems like you miss a lot of the more subtle details as a consequence.
