I love seeing Logan depressed this episode and it's such a contrast to the kids together shot in really sunny and open spaces. he's finally kicked all the people close to him hard enough that they're not coming back so all he's left with are the sycophants and the yes men who can't make a joke at his expense even when he asks. He spends his birthday in diner with the security guy, his so called 'best pal' who he shuts down as soon as he opens up a little about his personal life. He has all this wealth, power and people bowing down to him but at the end of the day he's just an old man watching crappy late night news alone

My guess is that Tom tipped off Shiv on purpose. I think he's playing both sides. He knows better than to put all his eggs in Logan's basket.

My guess is Logan cancels the Waystar sale to GoJo in the next episode so the kids can't cash their options and don't have the seed capital to buy Pierce. I'm guessing a la the Musk Twitter deal that GoJo will have guarantees written into the contract that heavily penalizes Logan if he cancels the deal, but Logan would rather burn cash than let his kids win. I'm hoping the long arc of the season is that the family dysfunction, which is ultimately the fault of Logan, ultimately destroys the family fortune and business as investors flee and stocks tank. The tragedy of the show is that the only thing the kids really want is the respect and love of their father and they feel the only way to get that is to beat him at his own game, but his malignant narcissism will never allow him to let his kids win even though deep in his heart he knows that's what he should do. And it will cost him everything. The real reason Shiv is divorcing Tom is not because Tom may have slept with other women, but because he ultimately chose Logan over her even though Tom is still trying to play both sides by purposefully tipping off Shiv about the Pearce deal in his own fucked up cowardly way. The original sin of their marriage is that Tom saw her as a means to climb the rungs of society and she saw him as someone she could manipulate using the power of her social position. I believe they do care for each other after all this time, but their personality disorders (Shiv's own narcissism and Tom's insecurity and greed) prevent them from expressing and feeling real love. So Shiv takes out her frustration with Logan on Tom, and Tom takes out his frustrations on Greg (as does everyone, that's his purpose in the family), and Greg hangs around and takes the abuse because he's an idiot and just wants to stay on the gravy train. It's fascinating trying to decode all the psychological harm that ripples outward from Logan's narcissism and the blowback when people try and fight back anyway they can. The show is brilliantly written.

A gem of a show I've been saving for a rainy day and I feel like it's finally boutta rain..

I could see this show ending with the kids finally winning over logan. With an ending scene showing logan isn't that upset about it and actually alluding to the idea that logan let the kids beat him, unbeknownst to them. I feel like that would wrap up the show nicely showing the evolution of all the characters, with the kids realizing they can be out on their own and not feed off their father's success and Logan finally realizing what's truly important to him isn't his empire but his family.

I think a good ending for the Roy kids would be for them to realise they no longer want Logan's approval.

Nice to see Kendall, Roman, and Shiv as a team though Roman seems conflicted about fighting his father. LOL at Greg roasting Logan and Logan's comeback. The end of Tom + Shiv. They gave it as much of a go as two damaged people like themselves could muster. Lonely Logan.

Idk if you do this already but the insight after the episode is so helpful. The show runners and actors basically confirm things we think through the episode and offer more context. Roman really wanted to have a business with Shiv and Kendall. Kendall wants to fuck Logan, Shiv wants to fuck Tom. Roman has the least reason to want Pierce so badly. I like the little awkward tension between Kendal and Shiv, they went at each other really bad in season 3. I don’t think Shiv is as mad about Tom being with other women as she is about him siding with Logan. She doesn’t feel safe in their marriage anymore because she set up the power dynamics.

I love this show so much. Missed it too. Nice reaction.

So many numbers. What is lower than 1? What comes after 9? I don't suppose that calling Shiv's "12" bluff and offering 13 was an option. Just burn the money in front of the Roy children. Other characters may feel more miserable than Logan, but most of them seem to experience some level of happiness at least occasionally on this show. Logan...maybe once...sort of? The closest that he usually gets is sadistic smugness.

It really annoys me how everyone is saying the Tom/Shiv scene was heartbreaking or lovingly tragic or whatever. Fuck all that, that scene was infuriating. The fact that Shiv could do what she did to Tom and then have the nerve to stand there and say she wont even talk about it. Maybe I’m biased because I’ve had similar experiences in my life but that one really pushed my buttons.
