Love that you showed your journey of deciding where to live. It has been so real and fun to see. Definitely the opposite of annoying, forget those people that are saying that.

My friends and I flew in to Seattle from Charlotte to see the concert. Beautiful city, the Queen Anne neighborhood was my favorite and Monica’s videos on Kerry Park were spot on The views of the city were immaculate! Congrats on deciding where to move.

I have been working from the couch over my desk just because it’s more comfortable (long term sitting without getting a backache. Plus one section of my couch does fold down to a tray table. I think moving to LA over NYC is much better in the long run since you would have family also in California and better year round weather.

Move to the Southbay! You can't go wrong with Redondo, Hermosa or Manhattan Beach. Close to airport, and a good central location. I agree with you about the year round sunshine, nothing compares and is why we always come back. Wish I had a family member close it would be a dream! Happy for you!

I'm moving to San Diego in February for a year and a half (from Melbourne, Australia) and so excited for the weather, I love it there! Would also love to do what you're doing with the home renovation stuff someday, just need to find some friends or something who are into it, cause I have no idea what I'm doing haha. Looking forward to seeing your next renovation project whenever it happens, and also your apartment hunt. I love the South Bay part of LA (I'm a beach person), would be cool to see some stuff round there if you look in that area.

Happy for you! I think you made the right choice. I was born and raised in NYC and love it so so much but don't live there anymore. While I love to visit and spend a few weeks there, I think you really need an aching desire for NYC to make the sacrifices of living there worthwhile.

Plus the weather, as you said. Good for you for realizing that your living situation had tainted your feelings towards LA the last time you lived there. You made the right decision! I honestly feel like you would have hated winter in NYC….I’m in Pa & winter is miserable & so long! It starts snowing anywhere from October until the end of March….you never know when it’s going to start or stop.

I lived in Queen Anne, Seattle for 3 years before moving to Colorado last year. Such a memorable 3 years to look back to, absolutely loved it minus the gloom :) My fav fav memory is going to Kerry park almost everyday hoping to see Mt Rainier, never got tired of that. The Highland Dr such a cool walking street going all the way up to the other end viewpoint. Loved the cute little downtown & all the cozy spots for coffee.

I love that your personal goals & overall happiness comes before choosing a location to live just because of a relationship. I really admire you for that and wish I had made more of that decision in my 20s. Sam is only a flight away and y’all have made it work so well + where you call home is not a forever decision. I know a lot of people hate on California, especially folks here in the south. However, moving somewhere is a major decision and you have to weigh the pros and cons and decide based on what is best for you.

I definitely agree on the weather.. I moved to SD from NY 10 years ago and the weather is the main the reason I stay... I also feel like you do get seasons in CA in the perfect way ie.. it gets cold enough for a sweater and boots but you can still go to the beach,... I will always miss the fall in NY and thankfully I have family in NY so theres always a reason to visit.

I thought the day you left your incredible apartment that looked over bay was the day at least internally you were going to move. I think you moving to Southern California and be close to your parents and Monica and I can feel you are already centered. Shelby, the look on your face and spoke of how much you love the sun.
