I am a white, middle-aged Christian-raised American who might not be expected to praise this video but I am deeply enthused by its message that can better all men. I heard encouragement for a strong work ethic and dedication to family which leads, of course, to a stronger community. That bravery is missing in so many young men today who are weakened by negative cultural influences. Thank you this video and its transcendent message.

I completely agree with this. A man should take care of this wife financially and I wish they would realize this and not get married it they don’t understand such basic principles. It is not their wife responsibility to take care of her husband’s family financially when they can’t do anything for their wife’s family or their wife. Thank you for sharing this.

Brother Nouman Ali Khan is usually on point in all of his lectures. What he is emphasizing in this one is that men are the maintainers and providers of their households, NOT the women. He never said that women cannot work and earn their own money in the marriage. If they do and choose to help their husbands and contribute to the households, it is considered a charity, NOT an obligation on their part. This is very much Islamic. It makes no sense for men to become offended or insulted with this. Problems come in when un-Islamic cultural practices override Islam. As Muslims, we can come up with all the "what if's" we want, but no matter. ISLAM ALWAYS OVERRIDE UNISLAMIC CULTURAL PRACTICES, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! We must always keep in mind that Allah is Always Most Fair and Most Just! He knows best, NOT us!

I am a Desi American and it is true what brother Nouman Ali Khan said. There are many desi families both in the west and back home where women are forced to work and all their money goes to their husband's family. I have experienced this with my family growing up and always thought that Islam was to blame for this, but no it is not Islam but this culture that has come into this beautiful religion. Never let the culture come to dictate what the Quran and Sunnah have brought for us. Desi culture has to become more Islamic. This lecture needs to be promoted for ALL Muslim men in the Desi culture. Islam teaches men how to be men. I am a proud Muslim and am glad that I as a man have to fulfill my responsibilities for my wife and children.

I’m paying half of everything and being abused .. Part of that abuse is he won’t pay his half of the bills if he decides he is mad at me. I have no issue paying half. I would love to spilt half of everything, domestic work included. I would love more if I could go to school but I can’t depend on him financially, even if I could drop down to part time with my job, it wouldn’t be enough money to cover my half, and he would own me if he helped me in that way. At the bare minimum, I would love to be able to depend on bills being paid on time because I always do my part financially and in the home, whether I am upset or not. I really want to believe this isn’t how it’s supposed to be. But no one is showing me any different. Family is backing him up and bailing him out. We’re not actually married, just engaged, for 5 years because he said I don’t deserve marriage unless I become his doormat (direct quote). I don’t see a way out. I am terrified and feel like I’ve been taken advantage of because I have no rights in my situation at all. I’m not Muslim, I’m Christian. I don’t know if I’m allowed to ask a sheikh for advice or not. I really wish I had more Muslim friends or someone to come to for advice. Part of that advice I feel like would be to “not air dirty laundry” as I’ve been told before but that’s how abuse continues and goes unnoticed because they convince you it’s not bad and it’s your fault it happened.

@magevogue Жыл бұрын
I've met potential spouses that wore hijab and fully covered up in terms of clothing below her neck and the first thing out of their mouths was high demands of financial expectations from a man. They take the parts of the religion that benefits them but ignore the rest. For example I've met highly educated Muslim women with hijab and love to repeat how the man is financially responsible for his family and his wife. They always mention any salaries they earn is for them and they specifically mention that they will not help out the husband. Although they are correct they convientely leave out the part where they are responsible to maintain the home such as cooking, cleaning and raising the children. If they can't do their duties they shouldn't work! Don't get me wrong I will help out my wife with those duties and never will I tell my potential wife "hey you will stay home, cook and clean" the same way these women I met have told me "your are responsible for the finances and don't expect me to help". If your going to apply something from the religion make sure you apply all of it! I have met musilm women who wear the hijab but not the full outfit or met with no hijab and those I've met were very righteous women!
@pearla69878 ай бұрын
Which teaching in islam says cooking, cleaning & raising children is the obligation of a muslim wife ya akhi??? Please check the prophet's teachings that even if a wife requested payment for breastfeeding her child, he should pay her. I'm a financially stable educated woman who asked my future husband this same question just to assess his knowledge & how much he'd step up in case needed in the future, he said sure. Guess what? I'm raising our kid with my savings, working part time while he's making excuse after excuse!! So please all muslim men out there, do educate your selves on your responsibilities & fear Allah about your women. That's our prophet's final advice to each & every one of you.... fear Allah about your women!!!!
@magevogue8 ай бұрын
@pearla6987 you should really provide sources of your information for you may be misleading people who aren't doing their own research to take what you are writing as is. Can the mother ask the father for payment in return for breastfeeding her children from him? I got the following from the site "islamqa" in regards to this the view is that if the wife is married to the husband, it's not permissible for her to ask for payment in return for breastfeeding their children, this is a duty on her and in that case she is not entitled to anything more than maintenance, because Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “The mothers shall give suck to their children for two whole years, (that is) for those (parents) who desire to complete the term of suckling, but the father of the child shall bear the cost of the mother’s food and clothing on a reasonable basis” [al-Baqarah 2:233]. You gave good advice for men to educate themselves but you should also educate yourself as well as well as everyone should.
My father gave me some money and deposited it as FD in my name. I was assisted by my hisband and in law to the bank for the depositing. It was two mnths back. Today while we were talking my husband mentioned about a plot to be bought in both our names using the money my dad gave and he would also take the majority fund for it. I asked him a practical question that if we bought the plot will i also get a share in the money we get from it. He immediately turned soooo weird and acted in a emotional way saying i don't need ur money and all... What ur father has given is you is just nothing... A mere ** lakhs... Etc... I'm soo cnfused that whether i have sinned asking him that... I do need an answer please 🥺

My father abandoned my family when I was 8yrs old, and came back after 5 years when he came to know my brother just finished his graduation and he left after 2months right after my brother joined post graduation.. Now he is again trying to comeback to us after 12 yrs.. And I can't recall him being nice to me or paying a penny for my education. Now I know in islam we have obligation to our parents.. Do I have any obligation to my father whome I never saw in 7 yrs while he staying not far than 100km? Ustad do I have any obligation towards a father like this?

Firstly you must ask his reason to do so. Then Just pray for him. And if he needs a help just help him as a human being not as a father. I know how hard it is to be abandoned by their own fam. I my self started to feed my self since i was 13 too while all fam members and parents stop financial support.
