You Aren’t Alone in Feeling Alone
Never in the history of civilization have we been more connected and felt more alone. We are all so lonely. What if the ways we have set up our lives are fundamentally broken?
In the Find Your People video Bible study, bestselling author Jennie Allen looks at the original community in Genesis, the Trinity, and the creation of people to see what God had planned for us all along. Jennie offers practical solutions for creating true community in a world that's both more connected and more isolating than ever before.
Drawing on fascinating insights from science and history, timeless biblical truth, and vulnerable stories from her own life, Jennie helps us discover exactly how to dive into the deep end and experience the full wonder of community. Along the way, we’ll discover the five life patterns required to build deep, connected relationships.
You were created to play, engage, adventure, and explore-with others. Because while the ache of loneliness is real, it doesn’t have to be your reality.
Sessions include:
1. Introduction
2. The Disruption of Community
3. Proximity
4. Transparency
5. Accountability
6. Shared Mission
7. Consistency
Jennie Allen is the founder and visionary of IF:Gathering as well as the New York Times bestselling author of Get Out of Your Head, Made for This, Anything, and Nothing to Prove. Im 27, ive lost so many firends in my life, my best friend passed away a few years ago, my other best friend cut ties with me for good reason. Since then ive struggled immensely making friends, keeping friends, making connections with people. I struggle with suicidal thoughts every day. I try so hard making friends but ive become so used to being alone that ive forgotten how to talk to people. Ive bought two of your books including this one. Im quater of the way through “get out of your head” and im really excited to grow and learn new tools and grow in faith at the same time.

Have you tried local youth groups at your church? Most churches provide groups for similarly aged Christians to get together. I relate to you heavily, iv grown apart from many of my old friends after being saved, my best friend passed in 2021, I feel that loneliness yet I believe God does want us to have connections. Thats what im doing and im also introverted. It takes time to make those genuine connections but its grown me far better than I could do on my own.

Walking through healing after my best friend has pushed me away and just doesn't "have margin for me anymore." I know I have the choice to get into community but I just don't want to anymore.

God bless you Jennie for this mission of yours and of God's to treat your neighbor as fellow brothers & sisters in our lives. The power of the gift of communication with new people we meet is the answer to feeling alone in this world. I suffer from the mental illness of bipolar. Thankfully, my psychiatrist ended up putting me on "happy pills" as I call them. I thankfully no longer suffer from depression like I did at the beginning of my illness. I am truly more outgoing than ever before. I really have joy in my life and want to share that joy with whoever I meet. I often see someone walking down the street and come across someone with a smile on their face. I comment right away with, "You sure have a beautiful smile." Or I see a couple walking down the street holding hands and say, "You sure look like a loving couple." Many of these people are taken aback and often say, "You just made my day brighter." I may even come across what obviously looks like a homeless person and I ask them, "How are you managing?" My love for them opens the lines of communication & I hear their life story. They may be lonely and shunned by the people of this world but my outpouring of the love from God in my heart makes me a good listener willing to listen to their story. In all honesty, they don't care for the ways of this world but are content with the life they are living. It does my heart and soul so much good that I keep the lines of communication open because so many in this world are shunned by their families and past friends. I am so grateful that in my recovery of my illness, a counsellor told the group that to help people the most, we must be good listeners and not to judge people like so many in this world do. Listening to others has opened the door to so many friendships that I am amazed at God's work in me. Being a good listener is what makes me, more like what Christ wanted me to be. Pass this message on to those who listen to your guidance which is the way of Our Lord. It is said in the Bible, "Judgement is mine says The Lord." Let us pray for those in need and also pray your enemies that God may intervene.

Perhaps the loneliness some feel, is not the lack of others around us and the "company" we long for of "at hand", and God does not heave "enemies", Can the Almighty have enemies IF HE has created EVERYTHING? Would He create an "enemy" for Himself or EVERYTHING is Under Him and Serve Him ONLY?
