This was the most compelling thing I’ve ever seen on television. To think it’s from the series that had its first episode be about poop tasting yogurt. Nathan is hands down a savant of entertainment and depicting the human condition. I still have no idea what was real or fake or when he was being sincere or trolling. All I know is I could not stop watching. The scenes with him and the escort made me experience a level of cringe, pity, joy, and fascination I cannot explain. This man is the matrix. I wonder if this is what gave him the idea for the rehearsal.

What an incredible way to end the series. To see Nathan become truly vulnerable and genuine by the end. To see someone we thought of as a joke and nothing more become a human with thoughts, feelings, struggles, and triumphs and in the end find something joyous and wonderful. The whole series up to this finale has prepared us emotionally for the end and we can see these cartoon characters become living breathing people. I don't think I've felt more emotionally connected to a comedy persona than in this finale. I wish I could see more of him, but I think that's what makes this ending so great. We got just enough, and any more might spoil it, yet we still hunger for more.

I’d argue he didn’t find anyone. The escort doesn’t count since she is clearly doing it for money and to be on camera, not because she likes Nathan

It was definitely a misunderstanding with the Bill Gates impersonations. He thought Nathan was asking him as Bill gates, that's why he said yes he does this professionally(Microsoft)

There is something about witnessing something profound and yet not knowing why you found it to be so deep. It is an evocation of something from within all of us, resonance with eternal truths that are familiar to our souls, and this episode did exactly that. I appreciate your attempt to put an explanation to it, but in absence of reason this episode is still just excellence that can be appreciated by that feeling in our bones without knowing why.
@felipepallares75742 жыл бұрын
I think the episode resonates in it’s portrayal of a real tangible emotional setback. Often we’re not sure of our decisions and wonder what could’ve been. Seeing an old man acting on this impulse up to such an anticlimactic conclusion demonstrates the struggle of human connection better than anything I can think of. Sometimes we don’t know what we want, and more often than not we don’t truly want anything in particular other than human connection. Unfortunately that is the one something we can’t force.

"Ya gotta know what you're sticking it in". I think that's why Nathan created the subplot with the escort. He wanted to humanize an escort after hearing that blunt remark from Bill.

I think it's kinda weird these essays trying to find a deeper meaning into Nathan Fielder's work. When you boil it down, it's just a comedian going to extreme lengths to create bizarre scenarios with no regard for people's feelings and often to make fun of ordinary people (and himself, although we all recognize that he's doing that on purpose as part of an act, unlike the ordinary people). It's manipulation and humiliation of people for the sake of comedy, there's nothing moral about it, or even sophisticated, I don't think Nathan Fielder will claim that his work has some kind of social commentary or whatever, just that it's funny. It is hilarious, but it's also kind of unethical.
@georget41412 жыл бұрын
i think you’re consciously trying to have the opinion that this work has no deeper meaning when overwhelming evidence clearly shows the contrary. humor, especially this humor, doesn’t exist in a vaccum. the show isn’t even cynical as a whole. not everyone gets humiliated, people take the ideas in stride, they’re silly and wacky people out in the world. and there’s nothing humiliating about that
@ReddoFreddo2 жыл бұрын
@@georget4141 If you like to tell yourself that liking Nathan Fielder's comedy makes you sophisticated, go ahead. The point of the show is to make fun of people, as well as Nathan Fielder being silly and absurd, it's very funny, and his schemes are often very clever, but it's not some kind of meaningful high art or whatever, unless you have reason to believe otherwise, but I haven't found any compelling reasons in this video.

@@georget4141 How is it complicated?
@georget41412 жыл бұрын
@@ReddoFreddo its an exploration of human nature, which is an incredibly complex topic. just think about this finale. bill is a complex person, and i would have never gotten an intimate look into his sad life without nathan for you. its profound, the story of a life full of regret. but its not mean, really. Nathan likes bill, he helps him. we see bill for who he really is, and i think many people can relate to bill in certain ways. its ok to read deeper into media and entertainment. and the people who do so have no other agenda than that these things interest them. if i were you i would try to steer away from the assumption that people looking for deeper meaning are doing so in order to feel sophisticated, because not only does that entirely miss the point, but it signals a kind of insecurity/superiority mindset over people who make those kinds of explorations. you can read nathan for you however you like and be totally right about seeing as a pretty superficial concept. your view is imo totally valid. but allow others to see it how they want, and if you have legitimate arguments disputing that then voice them, instead of just making blanket statements and character attacks.
