In this video my friend Jeff and I ‪@huntingrocks‬ find all sorts of beautiful fluorite! Come along with us and see what we find.

Wow! Those were some awesomely beautiful pieces of fluorite! I love fluorite and those are amazing pieces! The colors are just so vibrant! You should take a UV light out the with you next time! That way you can tell the difference between those tricky limestone faker rocks and the fluorite chunks! Especially when they are muddy like that. The UV light will make them react even in the daylight, you should be able to see it fluorescing through that thick mud coating! Awesome finds! And that is my kind of rock hounding! When you can't even make any progress because there is just so much on one spot to collect! 😮

You’ll have to do some research it’s just not a very accessible area but it is accessible just not by large groups so I can’t give directions on the internet

Thank you! If you’re still planning on coming to the USA we can get you here. It’s in the middle of nowhere though it’s about a minimum 3 hours drive from anywhere 😂 we will definitely be going back… the weather just wasn’t with us. Only 2 hours was such a tease! I’m sure there’s better stuff there

Oh yeah! Nice "announcement" photo at the beginning. 😂 That Illinois flourite is the best. The colors are just so rich. Too bad about the weather driving you out. Time to pull out the UV light.

Yeah we realized when we got there we should’ve brought lights lol. Next time! We’ll be back here I’m sure. It was such a tease only getting 2 hours but… it was raining too much and had been for like 10 minutes 😂 we both realized at the same time that we were getting too wet. Maybe next time I’ll get to see that museum you guys stopped at. I saw a sign for it on the way. Hope you guys are having fun!!!

I just got into fossil hunting and man... its addicting! So fun! I've only found a bunch crinoids and a rock with a shell in it. All found at the top of a roughly 130 foot cliff face in Hannibal Mo. Keep on keepin on! 💪🏽

Maaaaan.....those were nice!! I'm going to be driving through that area to go to Ohio possibly in the next month, I would love to meet you and Jeff there for an hour!! If it doesn't happen in the next month, it'll be closer to June 1st when I go, it just depends on when my dad's retirement happens (which will be no later than June 1).

Can you give us a rough idea of where we could hunt rocks on public land in Illinois? I'm retiring in a few years and creating my list of states to visit and rockhound for myself. Also, bring a couple of gallons of water, tub and a classifier. I think you'll find tons more. Thank you in advance.
