Day 5 and the temps are dropping but the searching for missing hiker Neil Skinner continues
Finally we managed to get into the fenced off area close to where Neil was pitched, near Loch Dochard, Bridge of Orchy, Scotland

It certainly is, the more you push out off the trail the better it gets. Season's greetings. Atb Bill.

Did I hear you say 3:00 a.m.!!?? Go...to...sleep!! lol I find myself looking for the calendar every day to figure out the day! Used to have a watch with a date...broke...never replaced. Sure is a picture perfect morning. Blue skies and snow squalls...similar to what we were having the other day. Certainly this search and territory is not for the faint of heart, especially during this time of year! Stella does look like she is doing well...what an amazing girl...just wants to keep up and make every one happy. You are certainly a stellar fella! Bruce and Otis

I wish I could have a nice cosy full nights sleep BUT even at home Rogue has me up at 1 am, 3 am and 5 am. And yes I could kill her the sweet little angel that she is. Yes temp dropped dramatically overnight into early hours, my sleeping bag has a comfort limit of - 8 Celsius and a couple of nights I felt cold so I am guessing it was close to that temp because I'm normally a warm sleeper. Back home now but will be back out again soon. Have a good weekend my friend, atb Bill and the three flea bags.

Goodness…….similar situation here in Finland walkers go missing in the forests and fells. I spend a lot of time out in remote areas where nobody would find me so you have to be as careful as possible, no taking risks at all. Always choosing the safest route but accidents happen sadly. I really hope he’s found but a terribly sad situation. If it was windy I would certainly seek shelter in the trees or head to a tree line. Also I probably don’t need to tell you but historical weather info is a good thing in SAR to understand what the person may have done that day/days. Edit: Having watched more of the backstory I would be searching any nearby peat bogs with a long pole. Looking under any rocks but people don’t just disappear so until proven otherwise foul play has to be a factor. Of course if the tent was not pitched by Neil then everyone has been looking in the wrong place. Any satellite images from previous days available or was the weather too bad?

Thanks for the feedback. There are a few twists and turns to the facts that we know. But assuming the facts are true then Neil did pitch the tent, was spotted at the location alone days later, but from that point it's a mystery. Weather was appalling for a couple of days after so search helicopters, dive teams, drones and dogs I believe took 48 hours to get into full swing. There is also a small hut nearby so if for some reason Neil needed emergency shelter he could have moved there. Sadly Neil has a history of walking off, months earlier he wandered off up some mountains whilst hiking with the same two friends, he was missing for 5 hours, mountain rescue were called out and eventually found him whilst he was coming down. So as you can see it sadly was a disaster in the waiting but Neil convinced everyone he was OK and laughed it off. Bill.

@@K9OutdoorsSearchTeam So very sad…..I hope the family can find some closure soon and thankyou for searching. This kind of volunteer work is something I feel is so important. I wish you all the best and stay safe out there. One last thought if Neil had a habit of wandering then look for a prominent spot some place that feels magical, somewhere hidden.
