I had heard all this about "real-ear measurements" but wasn't sure if it was maybe just an up-sell for additional, unnecessary services, so it was good to hear it from someone at a university who doesn't have a profit motive.

And consider better (non echo) audio quality by NOT using the mic from your video device!

The information in this video is valuable, but not accessible to people with hearing loss. Please caption this video for accessibility, instead of the video using KZfaq autocaptions (which are exhasting for hard of hearing people to read). Cleaning up captions can be done within KZfaq, and should use punctuation and capitalization. Thank you. -Kym Meyer, educational audiologist and consumer

Hello Kym! Thank you for your valuable feedback. Unfortunately, we do not have a professional webmaster for our KZfaq account at this time. It is ran by us clinical audiologists who work in the clinic every day! We are always looking for ways to improve our videos and hope to have the auto-generated captions updated to be easier to read as soon as we are able. Thank you for watching!

@@UNCHCC I am also an audiologist. You don’t need a professional webmaster to edit KZfaq captions. Teach your graduate students to edit captions for your videos, and it will provide them with two lessons that will follow them throughout their career: 1. that SLH professionals SHOULD be doing this and 2. that their patients should expect quality accessibility.

Here are the instructions to edit KZfaq captions. Please let me know when they are complete, and I will be happy to show your accessible video in my graduate SLP courses kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fbmHattlxLLec6c.html

Captioning seems like a no-brainer given the subject and target audience! 😆
