Warrant wrote "Cherry Pie" in just a few hours because the label wanted them to write "a hit" for the album. Whether or not they "had" to do it is an open question, but it is possible their album could've gotten shelved if the label didn't like it. I actually like the song, as well as a bunch of other Warrant songs, but I do agree that video is downright awful. It's too bad Warrant didn't have success after this album, because Jani Lane was a phenomenal songwriter and had a great voice right up until the end. RIP Jani Lane who would've been 58 years old today.

Danzig came into a record store in Phoenix, AZ years ago and flipped shit yelling at the store clerk because they had bootleg Misfits 7"s in the used vinyl section. They were Czech Republic made knockoffs that had probably been sitting there gathering dust since before that clerk even worked there. I think Slipknot did really fucking good job during the Vol. 3 era, I love all the videos. As you said, Duality captured the band's relationship with their fans. Before I Forget was like watching a rehearsal, taking away the masks and close ups of them playing were cool (I can vividly remember the shot of Joey stomping on the pedals). And then it was the Vermilion, I think it is a great piece of cinematography. The women with super animated and jerky movements with world around her going super fast just sets this creepy, tragic and yet somehow sensual mood. Other than that I don't really care about the music videos really. Usually I really like the live videos, especially for bands that are known for their energy live such as Happiness Is A Smile by TDEP or ETID's The Coin Has A Say. I think it is way more important for a band when releasing an album to keep the same mood or style - for example I liked Vein.fm's videos from Errorzone having that mutilated guy going through some bizzare 'evolution'.

A little tidbit about the Warrent video, another reason he really hated this song was because this song wasn’t a song that they had written for the album. They had already finished the album and they were really proud of the album as it was and the record company came back and basically said they wanted them to make a catchy cheesy song that they could make a video of . So they really never wanted to even make this song they were kind of threatened by the record label and were told if they didn’t make a song like this that the album wasn’t going to be released so it took them about three days to write this song and they recorded it and the record company loved it and it became the lead single and that was the only song they were known for after that.
