FInn! Do us all a favour and make a video about Scott Burns or Ross Robinson. I feel like a lot of times great albums come from a great mentorship and ear of great producer to make a band feel comfortable and free top express their art, and even see their potential to sound even greater on record. Many of my fav sounding records have those names in common. Love your fun content and have a nice day!

Crowbar should at least be B tier. They (along with COC) are the best of the southern sludge bands. They have the slow punishing riffs without the dope-fiend, unalive yourself lyrics. I could never get through a Buzzoven or Eyehategod record, but Crowbar always pushes through the misery in a very moving way.

As a prog metal fan who consumes a lot of prog metal, I'd like to let you know you can both be a fan of the wider genre and think Tool is top tier prog metal. Mainly because they are. Insufferable fans and a massive fan base don't automatically make the band suck. Multiple things can be true at the same time.

Also another thing to consider is as the world gets bigger and there's more people. The odds that you'll like something with an insufferable fan base are really high. Don't let them take great things from you.

Danzig and the misfits are the bands that made me realize there are merch bands, and just because alot of people wear a band shirt it doesn’t mean they’re good. And it’s also when I realized people say they like a band because they think they’re supposed to. Also to a lesser extent than with slipknot, I realized bands can have logos and imagery that they are going to be heavy, but are far from it.

Honestly kind of surprised that Finn didn't put tool higher. Not because I'm a fan, but because they are "Olive Garden prog". He tends to like catchiness and bands that bring underground music to the mainstream and Tool def did that. I mean you average active rock listener doesn't want to hear Cynic or Atheist. But they love Tool. I would have thought Finn would respect that. Of course he hates a passionate fan base so maybe that offsets it😂

Finn is so well researched and detailed with his appreciation of bands, especially classic, highly respected bands. Dear Finn, if you like sludge metal, I want to recommend you the entire Isis the Band (named after the Egyptian goddess of magic and wisdom rather than the extremist group) discography as well as Harvey Milk's first album, their album The Pleaser, Special Wishes and Life... the Best Game in Town. They are often underappreciated and are very gritty. They also often rerain a feel good attitude while having uplifting, yet crushing riffs. The teamwork of the instrumental sections is very organic and natural like a Steve Albini record. I think you would possibly enjoy those records a LOT if you haven't already heard them. Thank you Finn for bringing awareness to the younger generations about these hard working, consistent, and original artists. I have learned a lot from this channel, and the edits that give a visual representation are unmatched and make this channel very professional by including great detail and doing justice to a bands' essence

I went to see The Fall of Troy and Coheed and Cambria and the only thing weirder than that pairing was that Clutch played in the middle. You could easily tell the Clutch fans because they looked terrified and confused while sitting on the bleachers during Fall of Troy while waiting for Clutch to play. I decided to give them a chance as I had never heard them before. I got as far as them referring to a woman as sugar and the first harmonica break before I decided to just wait outside for Coheed lol

Ministry was at Lollapalooza II (in 1992) and probably had the biggest mosh pit going that day.. but yeah, straight downhill afterwards

The first 4 Danzig albums were awesome. I saw that original line-up in 1992 and it was the best show I have ever been to. They were incredibly tight live. I saw them 10 years later and they sucked. His voice was blown His output sucked for the most part after those 4 albums.

Ministry shifted a lot when Mike Scaccia joined from Rigor Mortis, and sadly lost a lot of that direction when he passed.

Not really. They gradually shifted into industrial metal style from the land of rape and honey through Mind is a terrible thing to taste into psalm 69. They went further into thrash metal after Barker quit when AL did the Bush trilogy

Well the shift between Land of Rape and Honey and Psalm69 was pretty big, definitely leaned more on the metal than the industrial IMO for that album.

the funniest thing is that the vast majority of Life Of Agony's lyrics - including the darkest ones - were written by... bassist Alan Robert. Mina wrote only two lyrics for the album on "Ugly" - about her mom. On "Soul Searching Sun" they already wrote half and half, but on the first record - they were all Alan's.

My dad died in the 90s listening to me rant on and on about how I couldn’t believe anyone liked Crowbar. I still can’t talk about it, so I’ll say this…he went to the garage and used a long steel lever with a goose neck and a notch to pull out nails at one end, and at the other end flattened points to force two objects apart or gain mechanical advantage in lifting, to suicide by repeatedly battering himself over the head.

Discarding post Nothing Meshuggah is downright outrageous 😂. Catch 33, Obzen are Metal staples and changed the game of music making even beyond Metal. The “songs” are tracks like Combustion ( basically a heavier Punk rock song ), Do not look down and Demiurge … They consistently released albums that have face melting intensity and catchiness all the way up until 2022 their last album.
