Kudos to Kanye for tippin his hat to Can and dabbling in the krautrock world, but that's not really something his audience is going to appreciate. Yeah someone at Spin was definitely trying to increase the brand's edgy factor by not only including a popular Billie song, but making it #1. If they are indeed trying to reinvent themselves this is a strange place to start. Writing controversial things for the sake of being controversial is kind of the norm in 2022, not innovation. Hopefully Spin gets a little more creative in this transition. Also weird to include that White Stripes song because that's apparently a Japanese bonus track and most of the songs on the list are relatively well known.
