That’s also how I take it. Up until now, he’s associated putting on the crown with the cause of suffering for so many people. But hasn’t acknowledged the good it also caused.

I liked his reaction a lot because it’s realistic. We didn’t need to see him break down and cry for us to understand that he got this information. He was in the middle of something more important than processing his feelings on that, I think that scene was more so that the audience can understand the importance of Simon to Marcy and to Oo.

Okay but when was the wish made? It can't have been at the point he was going to make the wish in the original series because IK's crown and PBs crown still have the gems inside them and they were being used in the Enchiridion at that point in time. You can also see Finns "BRB" note that he leaves at the start of "Temple of Mars" in the treehouse when BMO is looking for Batteries. So this wish must have come into play much later in that universe. Considering the Lich has Billys skin still on this has to imply he didn't kill Billy in that universe and make the wish until much later, but also implies he never became Sweet Pea?

I remember having this question in the back of my head since crossover, if finns wish reality is still there what about the lich's wish reality? I'm so happy they finally showed us. And another thing I wanted to point out, since this universe is exactly the same as the prime one until the lich made his wish, he's also stuck in a world with no enchiridion, and therefore no way to escape and go to every reality like he wanted to in farm world. (That is if the lich doesnt have some kind of magic to do that himself or some other way). Even if he did would he want to? Also did this universe receive a lich hand? And if so where is it? What is it doing? And if two liches meet what happens? So many questions...

@@poppiaria The gems flew back to where they came from afterward so it'd still probably happen in the wish-altered reality, but the BRB note is a direct debunk of it being the world the main Lich made unless there is some weird wish stuff (or maybe it was somehow a mistake but i doubt that)

@@frosty5047 My guess is that a new "copy" of Ooo was made, branching off the exact moment in time that The Lich made the wish (hence that sudden moment of only seeing Ice King's and Gunther's skeletons in the recording). Remember: each universe in the multiverse is connected in some way (except for Fionna's and Cake's), and each one has a moment in time that changed Ooo as we know it (Ex. Simon stopping the atomic bomb that would have caused an apocalypse in the OG timeline in Farmworld, or Vampire King finding Simon and killing him before he could meet Marceline in the Vampire World).

@@QueenLethargy Yes a copy of Ooo was made, but Finn still wouldn't have been able to write the note if the wish came true at the time of the wish. I can't see a reason why the instadeath would occur years after the wish was made. There's also some other differences I've spotted like with pbs lab- it looks like the more recent rendition rather than the older one (the older one still being after the wish).

I thought it was very interesting when Simon started saying "no, why would I...?" When fionna asked him if he joined her on the bus. I had been starting to notice how lopsided some aspects of their relationship could be, it might have unintentionally been a lot about him and not as much focus on Betty and her interests, and it might have something to do with the odd relationship they have. Remember; their love sprouted from her infatuation with Petrokov, the author/antiquarian, not Simon the person, seen in how he had to ask her to call him by his first name. She may have tried her hardest to help and push Simon to success, while ignoring herself. And Simon, caught up in his success and work, may not have taken into account she had other dreams and aspirations.

I noticed this as well. It seems Betty was always the one dropping everything, her whole life even, for Simon. As sweet as their love story is I find that aspect of it a bit sad

To go through your comment in reverse order, I definitely agree with your take on Betty and Simon. Throughout Temple of Mars, Betty does come to the conclusion that it would have been better for her to just go on the trip - until Simon tried to summon her in her GOLBetty state, their relationship was definitely Betty chasing Simon. To address the Gary/Marshall stuff since it seems like a good chunk of people agree with your take, I thought I would clarify that I understand that the core of the plot wasn't that Gary gives up on his dreams to save Marshall some embarrassment, but really that Gary shows that he cares more about Marshall than he does his business, as he doesn't let Marshall make his deal with the devil (his landlord mother). My main problems with the plot, (which isn't to say that I didn't like it because I really did), is that Marshall isn't actually committing to anything by letting his mother say make this toast. Marshall could have made it through the night, let Gary get his investments, and then start ignoring his mother again. Anyway, thanks for your comment, and I love that Fionna and Cake has allowed for Adventure Time discussion like this to come back!

It makes me wonder if the Lich is only focused on biological life, if he just likes having BMO around, if BMO is part of a contingency to detect or access more life in the future, or what? Maybe his wish missed robots and other such constructs, elementals even undead. Maybe BMO would be useful in the Lich's ultimate drive to end all life. Maybe the Lich wants to befriend BMO to access a fully robotic host body. Maybe Billy's depression is affecting the Lich. Maybe Football is hiding in the mirror world, and the Lich doesn't understand how to get to her and whatever lifeforms are there with her. Maybe Football took the brunt of the Lich's Power Word Kill, allowing BMO to survive in a way the Lich can't understand.

Yeah, that was my favorite line. Simon loves Betty as much as he thinks is possible, but he doesn't think to anticipate her needs, doesn't prioritize her well-being, doesn't make compromises or sacrifices for her. And all we see of Betty is her consistently making sacrifices. Considering the contents of the "smartest, funniest" note and the unique princess-snatching behavior of Ice King, I think Simon loves . . . Betty's admiration and adoration of him. Sure, he likes her intelligence, sense of humor, beauty, personality, quirks, interest in his work, etc.. But while he wishes for her to love him again, he doesn't give much thought to her own interests, ambitions, safety, and sanity; like she is constantly doing for him.

Betty has always taken the lead in the relationship, but prioritized Simon over all else. And he just...never questioned it. He's seen that if Betty wants something she goes for it, and he probably figures that if she wants to prioritize herself she'll do it. It doesn't make their relationship any less sweet, but it does add a really interesting layer to their story and highlight the tragic turn their tale takes. I just love a good doomed love story

Yes. As Prismo explained, when a wish is amde, an nee reality is smart, one where that wish was made. Whether it be something world- altering or small. Each wish forms a new branching segment that forms the multiverse. The Lich Made his wish, and was sent to the newly constructed reality in which he could win, and when Jake made his wish, HE was sent to where he interrupted that Lich's wish. It's complicated in a simple way

Theyre so unhealthily dependent on each other. The first thing he does when the crowns magic is sapped is try to talk to betty via time travel, sacrificing the gift he gave to marciline to do so. Now hes doing all of this because he cant move on, he should know how capable he is after being one of two survivors of an apocolypse that happened 1000 years ago, but hes just stuck. They kind of hinted at it this episode but i think theyre going to get into how much bettys character is defined by simon and how much simons isnt despite the fact that he thinks it is

I do think they will change this as even Fionna questions twice that it seems really surreal how she would just drop everything for him so often. I hope Betty manages to seperate from Golb and go to a timeline where she can live a long and wonderful life and Simon can move on and maybe even become a professor of artefacts in the Human society.

Oh my God the analysis that you just made about their relationship is so spot-on! For more evidence, in the last episode Fiona asks Simon if he went to Australia with Betty and his reaction is "Why would I do that?" Honestly, It's such a simple response that conveys so much about how he views their relationship and the dynamic. She gave up so much for him and what he wanted to accomplish. From the very beginning all the way until now. And the fact that when he was asked if he would do the same for her, it is so ridiculous it didn't even cross his mind. I mean it seems incredibly reasonable to assume that since Betty gave up her dream to help Simon find the Enchiridion, he would do the same. I have no doubt that these two love each other very much. But the relationship dynamic as a whole is incredibly unhealthy. Simon is willfully ignorant of all of the things that Betty has sacrificed to be with him, and Betty is so obsessed with Simon she can't see how this obsession is literally killing her.

I feel that way now I have always been a fan of Fionna and Cake but their decisions in episode 7 and 8 irritated me. Martin died because Fionna wanted to play the hero. Then Fionna left Baby Finn in the tank alone. Cake decision isn't any better the VK was going to kill her but she insisted that she was capable of getting the crown. She also broke the remote trying to get to the VK. She gave Fionna attitude in episode 8 making Fionna feel bad for saving her life. Cake is a house cat and just like Fionna is way over her head. Baby Finn is alone in that universe because of them. I'm not saying they deserve to die but they need to go back to their universe and stay there.

Not really, they're just from another universe. Prismo has created separate realities before, the only difference being that he created their universe for himself. The fact that they revert magical creatures and objects into a non-magical state probably has more to do with golbs "digestive" magic having an effect on their entire universe, which itself has only been turned into a non-magical and modern world due to it being hidden in simons mind while he was reverted to his previous state by golb

Unless Marceline lets PB's arm go before she sucks her soul out I don't see how Marceline could die. She also has the option of pushing PB off of her or the vampires might get to them before PB can kill her. Either way PB's a dead woman but Marceline might've survived.

​@@Jassiij27 yes! i think one of the strong themes here is that even tho fionna thinks she's messing up and failing, she's actually doing good things in the long term. she *is* a hero. yes, she did kill many candy people, but she freed PB from being cursed with madness by a self-absorbed prince. she (may have) failed to save farmworld finn, but she removed one of the last remaining pieces of crown influence in that world (that probably would have been used by Big D) and she brought a baby human hero to a world which likely had none. all of those worlds have brighter futures because of her, even if her time there was rocky.

@auroraPalace_ this is true and taking away Baby Finn from a Universe that doesn't need protection due to everyone being babies to a universe that had no one to protect the humans now that all the rebellion members are dead will eventually save a lot of humans. If Marceline is still alive by then she might even befriend Finn. Farmworld Finn I'm pretty sure is still alive he was just pinned to the ground by Scarab. Now that the gem is gone like you said he won't have to worry about any power falling into the hands of idiots. He can continue living a peaceful life with his kids.

So simon might still have a free wish, to which he highly likely can have the scarab grant. Cause if the scarab take prismo's position as the wish master, he would have the responsibility of granting the wish.
