I really love Phoebe calls Bonnie out for her actions

8:55 this scene is fun to me because it shows PB actually trusting FP. That's the dude who kept calling war at the candy kingdom and seeing FP turning him down followed by PB turning off the cameras conveys that 1. FP has no interest in destroying the candy kingdom even after everything 2. PB seeing that and making a face implies that yeah, she can and should trust FP as a leader.

Ive always admired PBs uncompromising determination to maintain control for the safety of her people at any cost, especially as a parent it really hits home for me. As a parent you simply do not have the option to let certain things go unchecked or happen. But if not regularly checked that mentality can obviously cause problems, as shown in this episode. I love this episode a lot.

I like the way that they portray her, it makes sense that she would generally be a morally grey character. Alot of people act like morality is an inherent knowledge in people, and even if that was true, bonnie isn't and has never been human!! Why would she have a human sense of morality. She does have a very clear line of logic when she does something, but its not always ethical, because morality, ethics and logic are all different things that coexist in relation to each other but do not necessarily depend on each other all equally. I feel like her character demonstrates that relation between those concepts quite well.

The thing is, even though Bubblegum does care about her citizens, she doesn’t see them as people with consciousness, she sees as children, objects to make her feel validated and have purpose.

I always found bubble gum to be an intriguing character as yes but she is doing is to protect her kingdom but to what extent is that okay, because there seems to be no point where she draws a line until this episode makes her think about her actions

Phoebe is the better ruler here. While she may be younger, she has ultimately shown that she is doing what is best for her people and even willing to work with people she is not particularly fond of for the sake of her kingdom. While she has her flaws, such as her anger, she is was rightfully justified for Bubblegum was putting her people in mortal danger because she is always trying to control and spy on everything. Trust is a very delicate thing, it is easy to lose if you do not give others space and privacy to live their life. Bubblegum was alone for so long for she felt that she could never have close bonds with others for she felt that she would not always be in control. But trying to control others is not going to do any good. Only damage and lonliness.

I love FP's character growth and PB's doesn't seem like she grew much but an immortal being probably changes very slowly

Great analysis. PB is one of the most interesting and complex characters in the series, who has been unfortunately been oversimplified in our current meme culture to “lol war criminal princess.” Really enjoying your deep dive into her arc between this video and the Varmints video!

I can blame the writers for make a bitch. She was so cool in the ealiest seasons. And we can see there is a error with the writing: We learn in the season 6 that PB created the candy people with stupidity, however Root Beer Guy, Cherry Cream Soda, Cupcake and the others are not stupid right ?
