I used to train with Firas and his brother Aiman back in my youth and I honestly regret not continuing and sticking with it. I didn't grow up with a father figure and my mom used to discourage me in almost everything. Although training in MMA was one of the best things I've ever done, it was also during a period in my life that was extremely difficult. Al Hamdulillah for the struggle and everything else. Despite our shortcomings in life, it's 2022 and I'm still here and alive. A lot of people are no longer with us since.

I give Firas a lot of credit for having the courage to speak his mind about these issues considering the environment we live in these days. Sometimes all it takes is a clip like this to go viral and you can get major pushback, lose sponsorships, or have to deal with harassment by extremists who have opposing views. I'm agnostic, raised Christian and I absolutely loved what he had to say. "To create a life and have a happy successful family is one of the greatest things in this world." "How did you get here? A man and a woman created you." Mic drop 😆 I'll also say that my family was very dysfunctional and I have largely had to separate myself from them in order to preserve myself and to find a better way for my own family one day. But my need for community has always been obvious and so I have surrounded myself with individuals who are healthy to be around where we can mutual respect for one another. I'll also say that I am strongly considering adoption instead of creating a child since there are so many that have already been irresponsibly thrown into this world without a good family...however, the miracle of conception is no less sacred, as he stated.

Exactly. As a convert to Eastern Christianity, (where Christianity began, and NOT in the West), I have had to undo much of my Western mindset to understand the true meaning of my faith. Islam and Eastern Christianity are similar in that there is no emphasis on the self above or aside from the collective, in our case we call it the church. Scripture makes this explicit, but somehow that has been disregarded in the West. Very sad. Just a thought. Blessings.

That is a very flawed logic. By supressing homosexuality, you are not helping the collective. You are simply stepping on individuals, who wanna live their own lives. If Firas’s sons turn out to be gay, and this mindset is in their heads, that is only gonna be bad for their future families. If they are gay, they cannot love their wives, and raising children will therefore be significantly harder. But if they are allowed to be with someone of their same sex, they can be in a loving marriage, and adopt children and have a family

"The collective is more important than the individual".. Many civilizations have been built upon this principle and many civilizations has ended when this principle is forgotten.
@patrickraj1
@patrickraj1 2 жыл бұрын
@John Smith taken to extreme, anything is bad.. but no, the collective IS more important than the individual. That is how wars are won, how civilisation is built. If u want to go fast, you go alone, but if you want to go far, you go in a team. The team must be more important than any individual. Western civilisation was built on this. This is why you conquered the world.. and now you have forgotten this and the Chinese are soon going to eat you for breakfast while you concern yourself with the extreme ends of collectivism.
@patrickraj1
@patrickraj1 2 жыл бұрын
@John Smith "ethics at its core is about maximizing the well being of a human life - that's it.". Well, what does that really mean? Which human life? What if my human life is pitted against your human life or the lives of my children against yours? Which one do we choose to maximise? The stronger team will maximise its life. Thats why i place the collective over the individual. I think you must think i am a leftist trying to push the leftist agenda. I am actually the opposite but what i know is that unless people are willing to put the collective over the individuals, society will eventually collapse. What we are seeing is the collapse of the western world where what an Individual feels about their gender is more important than the truth. And the truth is critical for the functioning of a society. I suspect your concern your concerns about collectivism is about becomming communist (e.g. North Korea today or China before Deng). That is an extreme ideology and we know that it doesn't work. Instead look to Japan, Denmark, Korea and Singapore These are countries that place the collective over the individuals they have a market econony so incentive driven and the people generally put the collective above the individual.. i'm sure we can agree that the souls of people in this country have not been killed? What i am saying is that the current individualist culture of the west will result the collapse of your civilization. One of the greatest one at that, but when you give up truth and place the individual over the collective, its inevitable.
@patrickraj1
@patrickraj1 2 жыл бұрын
@John Smith i'm not sure i agree or maybe our definition is different. Collectivism is defined as "the practice or principle of giving a group priority over each individual in it." How can this not be true for say a football team? There are many many great players give up personal accolades so that the team can win. Many soldiers in a platoon (a type of team) who sacrifice their lives so that their platoon mates can live.. In many families (a type of team) where the parents sacrifice and suffer for their children (i guess you can argue that its due to DNA but we have heard of adopted childrent who have also gotten such privileges.). A team that does not have collectivism will just not be an effective team.
@patrickraj1
@patrickraj1 2 жыл бұрын
@John Smith "when i say individual i'm talking about human beings in the abstract." - What does this statement mean? "The reason we sacrifice for the group at times is because it benefits 'the human being' although i might be subject to sacrifice if i am unlucky, i'm safer in that world than if i live in a world where no one ever sacrifices themselves." - You are using the word human being, i would prefer to use the word tribe. Genetics also play a huge part here. "So its a kind of mutual agreement between people, which leaves everyone better off. But it can go too far.. " - Anything and everything can go to far. "But it can go too far.. upholding the group at all costs can undermine the individual, and seeing as the group is made of individuals, paradoxically we risk undermining every member of a group if we hold people to a general standard that always prizes the collective over the individual. " - It depends on whats at stake. If the stake is simply the Tribes survival, which is not out of the ordinary for humans say before the agricultural revolution 11k years ago, then its simply required. "We benefit ourselves directly, we also benefit ourselves by benefiting the group, there is thin line of reciprocity between the individual and the group" - Again, it depends on the social contract. It could be that i will suffer and put the collective above the individual so that my progeny could be safe. And i get something out of it because of the passing on of my genetic mutations. Please remember, we have been homo-sapians for approximately 80 to 200k years (depending on who you ask). You are basing alot of your concerns based on political ideology of about 200 years. Till about 11k years ago, we have been purely collective. Thats how we are designed to be. I am not suggesting that we become communists. My initial point was very simple. Western civilization is becoming too individualistic and putting the collective ahead of the individual is a good idea for this society. I have never suggested that we should go to the extreme and become communists. I think its clear how that has worked out, we have the data.

Not sure if it's that simple. In some ways agree, but what about when your own child is genuinely gay? I've known many families destroyed by a lack of acceptance on that. Many gay people commit suicide after being rejected by their parents. Shouldn't compassion be primary? Why assume to know what's best for the group? And in an overpopulated world, why create more families? So I don't know if it's all that simple. I'll stay undecided and leave the certainty to God.

Gay people can adopt children and give them families when they would otherwise be alone. It could be seen as Allah's will that some people are gay, even if most are not--giving orphans a family. The passage of the Quran that forbids gay sex has it in the context of excessive, massive amount of sex, in a polysexual, orgy fashion. So it could be saying don't waste your life only having sex at the expense of other important things. If anyone has a direct quote from the quran that shows I'm wrong I'm happy to read it. I'm new here. Sex seems to be something innate in our programming, and no sexual orientation harms other people as long as its consensual, so it doesn't seem like it should matter, especially considering gay parents can adopt. I'd say let kids be who they are...but I mean...we have to teach them to potty train and have manners. Our culture is definitely not 100% instinctual. Let's teach compassion and not shame!

6:00 inbreeding is a far bigger issue in Muslim culture than alcohol is in non Muslim cultures. Why does the Quran ban alcohol, but not inbreeding?
@SAM_KBI
@SAM_KBI 2 жыл бұрын
The problem of inbreeding was also known to the ancient Arabs. A close companion of the prophet pbuh advised a Arab tribe to marry outside the family when he saw that the offspring of that tribe was weak and thin. The problem of inbreeding is primarly caused when people marring their close relatives generation after generation. But if you have a line of 5 generations where only 1 generation marries close relatives, the chance of inbreed problem is much smaller. The Quran allows it but it's not mandatory. So this problem is not necessarly a because of religion. People in the old times were aware of this but maybe not everybody. The problem of inbreeding is the effect of culture where it's common sense to marry with your cousin generation after generation after generation etc. And this is a real problem. But it's not necessarly because of religion as the most important criteria within Islam for a good woman is that she should be pious and have good manners and attitude. People need to be educated to create awareness so they may reduce this problem. The Quran(49:13) also says: "O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another." To know one another is also marrying with each other which will increase diversity.

I agree 100% , that is why I home school. But I was born in the US in 1984. This country began and was successful because it started with conservative Christian values while allowing freedom of religion and free speech. But there were moral limitations. You couldn't dare talk about these topics today. All of this is going away and that is why America is facing a decline as a world power. China and Russia mainly are losing respect for America and instead of seeing strong men they see men dressed as woman. The status quo in the 80s , 90s was opposite of what it is today. Some say it's progression but more say it's a decline , and if you check history anytime a society/empire started to focus on sexuality and unimportant issues it caused the end of that nation. I don't want to see America deteriorate since I want my family to continue living here but when most of the politics are on nonsense for example is a man a man or a woman a woman. Not only has this country lost its your moral compass but alot of what made this country strong.
@TheLockon00
@TheLockon00 2 жыл бұрын
@@deanobeidallah6541 There's nothing moral about homophobia. The decline the US has experienced is mainly in education. I think that's related to modern life in the richest country in the world being too easy. People expect things to be easy, including school, and do not want to study difficult topics like the hard sciences and engineering. The US military and economy are still top in the world and the only threat is China. There's a good chance, though, that China overtakes us by 2050. That's because China has the population size and economic potential. That's the analysis from people like John Mearsheimer, for example. I would agree that you don't want your society's birth rate to drop too far (ours is) if you want to maintain your global position, and we do need to maintain some collective norms about child-rearing. But I do not think you need to have a society that discriminates against gay people in order to do that. Gay people are a part of every society. I hate to break it to Firas, but he could have a gay kid regardless of how he raises them. Also, since gays are a small but meaningful part of the population, that means that his kids are going to have gay classmates, gay teachers, and later gay bosses, or coworkers. That is statistically unavoidable, so it's good to teach kids that gay people exist and that they're accepted members of society. That's not going to bring about the collapse of Western civilization. Other things might, but not that.

Basic ethics as in "be kind to people", "be just" etc. Schools provide an excellent opportunity for children to actively learn such life lessons because they are forced to be around hundreds of kids from all types of backgrounds. However, you are conflating ethics with indoctrination. "People should be treated fairly despite their sexual orientation" is an ethical position, which I'm sure Firas would support. "It's ok for two men to have sexual intercourse" is not. It's a pseudo-religious position based on the pseudo-religion of Liberalism and it is fair to disagree with this position.

They'd often become the healers, the spirit guides. You see this today for example in places like Thailand where Buddhist and Shamans compete for these types of individuals as they believe that the more abnormal or different a person the more the spirits, the creator paid attention to them. It can certainly skew it... kandahar in Afghanistan is a city where 50% of men are involved in homosexual relations. If you look at any statistical study of any other population's sexual fantasies(not even what is physically acted upon), the percent of people who are even attracted to the same sex maxxes out at around 25%. This would indicate that living in a society that practices widespread homosexuality actually makes it more likely to become gay than living in a society where sexual norms are more neutral. Prisons are another example of societal pressure and conditioning turning people gay who would otherwise be straight or vaguely bisexual. Culture and conditioning are a very powerful thing... just ask a prison inmate who was raped so many times that he became gay or transgender.

First of all, feminine appearance does not indicate that a person is homosexual. And you have NEVER EVER been not forced to become feminine. You are only forced to become masculine from the very first day of your birth and you continue to pass on these values to your sons and daughters, from what you admit. I don't care how you are going to raise your children, as long as you are not being abusive. But at the same time, you should not have a say in how others are going to raise their kids, as well. Homosexuality is not a lifestyle. It is a sexual orientation. It doesn't have an ethnicity or religious borders. It happens in nature, it has always happened. And since you are unable or lazy or even Illusive to look the term in a scientific journal or even a book, i can safely say that you are prejudiced. Portraying a single gay role in a movie while there are tens of straight individuals in the same movie is not about promoting homosexuality. It is about inclusion of this kind of people, since movies depict behaviours seen in real life. It is a nice initiative to portray these characters, so that kids can see that they should not bully their feminine or gay friend at school, or make adults like you see that talking shit about other people is not cool, it is disgusting. Since Homosexuals like me are born this way, we have only been forced (usually with violence) to act "straight", according to social norms. You know, we are the same people that are being sent to death in various muslim and christian countries, just because we fall in love and give our consent to that kind of intimacy. Why do you really care about people deciding to look feminine? Has anyone forced you by law to become feminine, too? Just like so many muslim countries do? These are facts. If you are laughing at a gay scene in a movie theatre makes you disrespectful and fascistic. I, as a gay person, don't laugh when i see straight couples kissing or something. And i certainly don't raise objections to anyone about how they would like to dress or act. Everyone is entitled to lead their life the way they would like to, as long as they don't use violence. Straight people minding others' lives and wanting to know how they like sex behind their closed doors seems to me like they would like to know more about that kind of activity. Not to mention that the most fanatic homophobes have been proved by psychology to be secretly gay. Just like Hitler himself. T3M clips, sincerely asking, have you ever questioned your sexuality? You are so much into this subject that even I as a gay person don't talk about homosexuality that much. And last but not least, stop talking like your kids are a kind of property that you own and that you shape them just the way you want. Society takes part in this, as well, and as long as you are able to explain to your kids with reason why some things should be in a certain way, your kids are always going to listen to you.

A major point of disagreement on my end: Firas says that there is something different in love between a man and a woman because they can create life. This is simplifying reality too much. There are women who cannot have children, and there are men who cannot have children. Maybe they have an anatomical issue. Would that not be real love either?
