Everyone needs to do what they want in life. I really wish I could do what you did and if we ever custom build I will do what you did with Fire Lite and got my wife's support. I so much wish that that more persons and alarm customers could get better than just residential panels give.

Just make a separate, quick video (maybe a short), to explain why you have a commercial fire alarm system in your house, then put up a card to it for any video like this, and all you have to do is say something like "I get the question all the time, and there are plenty of good reasons why I have a commercial fire alarm system in my house. I'm not gonna go into it here, but you can click on the card up there if you're curious what they are."

Good idea
@KILLKING1103 ай бұрын
Actually eventually whats considered commercial now days will eventually be required in homes in both Canada and the US as the classic 10$ smoke alarm is increasingly not cutting it anymore. For instance in my house we have both smoke detectors and heat detectors in appropriate places like the attic due to the various environmental conditions heck the combo traditional and photoelectric smoke alarms should be the start level fire protection which won't happen until a major tragedy happens sadly.
@nics-systems-electric3 ай бұрын
@@KILLKING110 I don't think commercial system in the form of how they are currently will ever end up in residential applications due to the complexity and maintenance required. however the adoption of automatic sprinkler systems will become more common for sure. and possibly more advanced smoke alarm requirements for new construction.

I’m getting a brand new ACM-24-AT too. They are nice annunciators. Currently, I have an ACM-48A in my panel, which is the buttonless version of the ACM-24-AT.
@nics-systems-electric3 ай бұрын
Yeah, I like them. The bypass buttons are very convenient. It's only too bad that it's only VT programmable, but I can see it being pretty challenging to try and do keypad so it's understandable that that's the only way.
@Fire-Lite4573 ай бұрын
@@nics-systems-electric It’s only keypad programmable on a 3030 or NCA-2 I heard. By the way. Someone recommended that I use shielded cable for the EIA-485 circuits that are going through conduit outside of the panel, to prevent signal interference, but I see that you don’t use shielded cable and it looks like you haven’t had any issues with signal interference.
@nics-systems-electric3 ай бұрын
@@Fire-Lite457 yes that is true with the 3030 and NCA but that's only if it's on a 3030 as I wouldn't think you'd be able to get into a 320 or 640 from an NCA from what I've heard. And no I don't use shielded never seen an install done with shielded unless it's audio.

My grandparents are supers of a older apartment building. They have fire alarm bells. Mir tone. Anyway they have the old ones with glass and stuff. They know how to test them. HOWEVER there are 2 other alarms. Ones a potter and there’s a little hole and says to turn. Any tips for how to use those? And there’s another which is really weird. It’s a summit. It says pull and an arrow in the middle then tirez. Lower there’s FIRE the feu. How does that work?

That copy of Verifire Tools you're using is newer than v5.7 correct? Because earlier versions have an older UI but more importantly, does not have any sort of licensing verification mechanism built into it.
