Күн бұрынMy growing fire ant colony (the Phoenix Empire) is so big and hungry now, I felt they were ready to take their next step at becoming true fire ants, and engage in their first killing for food. Initially, when the colony was composed of just nanitics (first gen fire ants) the workers were frail and fearful of anything large and moving. But now, the colony is composed of a much more powerful worker force capable of being the predators nature has designed them to be. Watch what the fire ants do to the prey item I place into their outworld, how it fights back, and how it ultimately benefited the colony. Ant love forever! These ants are really tiny in real life. Less than 5mm in length in fact. The whole setup is probably no longer than 8 inches. Mikey has a crazy good macro lens, so you can’t really tell how small they are!

Yanno, I was googling how to keep these tiny black ants away from my mealworm farm (bearded dragon food) and stumbled upon your videos, i've been non stop watching since.. I've always found ants fascinating, I love the presentation of your colony progression, I learned more in 6 videos than i ever have from most "animal planet" type shows.

Well, the actual worm lives on. And I read most insects and worms have a very simple neuro system and cannot feel pain. This is at least the best outcome for the worm instead of being killed and then fed entitely I guess

You got me into any keeping I have my own colony now and it’s actually really awesome if you know what your doing and now how to take care of them it’s actually cool how they communicate and do teamwork. I just love when they dig because I’m fascinated on how they just carry everything from their tunnels

So a bit of extra info: the tail squirming is actually just reflexes. So technically the tail part is dead. Worms don't really have a lot of nutritional value as it's content is mostly water (which is why you would not see much of a corpse or waste).
