People like to yell about how slow some of the big departments are when leaving on calls, especially CFD, FDNY, LAcFD, ect., but this video just reinforces the fact that when lives are actually on the line, they can be out the door before you can blink.

Thank you for being First Responder Filmer. I wish Engine had a Emergency Light of some sort in middle top of front cab. Bring back a great ( Federal 184 ) clear doom with Clear Red Amber and a green Lens. That would look so great old school. Wish those Beacon would come back to Fire service.

The Squads are a specialized company. They are a 2 piece, 6 member company. The piece designated "SquadA" is a "box" truck with an elevating platform or"snorkel". The piece designated "Squad " is a "box" or closed utility body. IIRC, 4 on the squad and 2 on the A unit.

What is with the green light on the front
@northshorefiremedia5268
@northshorefiremedia5268 2 жыл бұрын
Chicago Fire Department has green lights on the officer side of their vehicles out of tradition. The new fire commissioner in 1927 (Albert Goodrich) had a family history in the steamship business. He brought the green lights on the starboard side of maritime vessels to the fire apparatuses and even the firehouses themselves - many CFD stations have green and red lights beside the bay doors that line up with the vehicles' lighting!

It’s traditional! Green light on the starboard side of the rigs. Dates back to an old fire Commisioner who was in to boating!

Fire Commissioner in the 30's was a member of the family who was a large Great Lakes shipper.

@@davidbloom6483 To be specific, Fire Commissioner Goodrich (served 1927-1931) owned the largest of the Great Lakes steamship lines. He also ordered the firehouse doors painted red, to make them more conspicuous to people seeking aid.

@@Born2doom That makes it hard for residents to get enough sleep. The city of Chicago and the suburbs should consider switching from the EQ2B's to the real Q on fire trucks, PA4000, Whelen and Carson on ambulances and European sirens on all emergency vehicles.
