Here is the new YD100 engine from cdhpower.com and in this video we tear most of it down, examine the build, and get the engine ready for a pre-install. There are A LOT of tips in this video! Please like and subscribe, and don't forget to check back for this motor installed on a Columbia 1937--that will be a performance review.

Thanks for the info and help man! I'm a 4 stroke guy,been running a modified 79cc predator on a friction drive setup front drive. Have managed 41 mph on flat at about 7000rpm. I was hit 4 months ago doing uber eats here in philadelphia by a car that ran a stop sign, and totaled my bike, and injured my knee, looking to do a rebuild. This bigger 2 stroke is a game changer. 30 mph cruise, and 40mph top speed would be plenty for a delivery bike!

Dang! Hope you are alright! I sell a lot of bikes to eatery delivery people. They like the nel lusso with the basket and rack. The yd100 is awesome. I have had zero engine problems and it just keeps getting faster and smoother with every ride! I agree....this engine is enough for most riders. Have fun and I hope your recovery is quick!

I got my YD100 from CDH also, it had a broken fin on the cylinder, and they sent me a new one, very quickly I might add, but you only have 48hrs from the time you receive it to make a claim, which I just so happened to see in the fine-print on the day I received it, and that's what made me inspect it, I usually just put these kits up-on the shelf for months before ever opening them.

I got this engine,and I went by what you said,but my experience was there were three gaskets for the head ,so I left two out and just left one like suggested,it would've never reman,because the was not enough room for the piston to do it s job,so my suggestion ,if there are two or three leave them on,they aperently need the space for the 50 mm bore to work properly,now she runs like a bat out of hell,my first build was a nightmare ,over two gaskets,

Kool video. I'm running a windowed piston with matching cylinder head from CDHpower/eBay, along with CDHpower bottom end from Amazon. With the reed valve and high speed carb and a expansion chamber my yd100 engine is a beast. These engines aren't that complicated to build.

I enjoy your style of narration, not so much hemming and hawing around and more instruction with less drama. Thanks for the magneto 6v/12v tip and the proper amount of head bolt torque. I am curious about a statement you made about the extra gasket between the cylinder/head and crankcase changing or affecting the timing of the engine. Other than a slight decrease in compression I don't see how the timing would be affected. Perhaps the extra gasket was added to prevent piston contact with the casting flash around the head/cylinder junction that you dremeled out. More expedient than actually correcting the fault. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. FrankyLynn

It changes the Port timing by effectively moving ALL the ports up from the piston crown/head & skirt windows effectively detuning it slightly.... there's a reason there's 2 gaskets there: the Asians don't do something for nothing, it's costs them !. Trev New Zealand 🇳🇿🙃😇

PS if you can get a STK bore size replacement Piston you can effectively do a partial porting job by lowering the piston top/Crown 1 - 2mm if there's enough meat (start off with 1mm removed from the width of the exhaust port) & raise & lower the Transfer windows in the Piston skirt sides about a mm top & bottom & even widen them the same amount.,....for an ex Honda Elsinore 125 MX'ER. Hey! I agree. The YD has a lot of low end torque--more than enough to spare. So, for my next free-time build, I am going to use the YD100 with the high speed carb. Then I will lower the stock 44t sprocket to a low 30’s tooth sprocket to get top end speed, then I will add an MZ exhaust, use the OZ magneto, ngk plug, 8mm copper core spark wire, and finish it off with possibly an internal velocity stack (may have to adjust the jet depending on outcome). I know there is more I can do, but at a certain point, it becomes overkill for a bike... Get a motorcycle if you want more, right? Overall, I really enjoy this engines power. Definitely a step up in my opinion.

Hello, sorry to bother but I am trying to decide whether or not I should buy this engine kit, or a standard 66cc kit from bikeberry. This is a hard decision for me because the true 80cc doesn't have a cylinder head which isn't as reliable.
@SouthernCustomCC
@SouthernCustomCC 4 жыл бұрын
Tony Arlt : Hey, thanks for watching! I like this motor for the torque and low end power. If you pair this motor with an MZ pipe, you'll really fly! The standard 80cc engines are cool because they are modifiable such as a high compression heads. To be honest, the more modified your engine is, the more attention and tuning you will have to do to it on a regular basis. So with the yd100, you get the low end power and a decent top speed, which helps tremendously if you live in a start and stop or hilly area. If you buy one this weekend they are $149 for the entire kit. Either way, have fun!

@ericellquist7007
@ericellquist7007 4 жыл бұрын
Just curious, why did you reuse the motor mount studs? Seems like a couple of bolts would have been a cleaner installation... As most motors have a removable head they require a head gasket. The manufacturers probably didn't know what to do with the extra head gasket, as there was no place for it.. so they put an extra base gasket between the cylinder and the crank case so you'd at least have the right AMOUNT of gaskets. Heh, heh, heh...

Hello I am trying to decide between this with a performance pipe on it or the zeda 80 with the dio reed and the oko carb on it? Any thoughts
@SouthernCustomCC
@SouthernCustomCC 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Well…the dio reed setup is definitely a good set up. You’d get some more low end, better band results, and it looks sweet too! You’d still want to buy an exhaust upgrade for the dio setup otherwise you miss out on some of the benefits of what you paid for. The yd is a bit choppy, but with the exhaust, it calms it down a bit and you have good low end torque out of the box. Really, the choice is yours, just make sure you spend time to set your kit up properly. Happy building

You should always take them out then put them back in just finger tight with some lock tight

I got a laugh out of, "finger tight" lol. I'm interested to know if the wrist pins are the same as the smaller engines.

Looks like the bottom end and connecting rod are the same and they just produced a larger top end for the same bottom components. Not being able to get the head off sucks because you cant get into the right angle to remove that ledge in the tops of the transfers.

They do not, they are 2 strokes so the oil is in the gas

How will that extra head gasket mess up the timing. I can see how it will have lower compression by a very small amount since now the combustion chamber at TDC will be increased by a small amount. There are obviously no valves with 2 strokes, and ignition timing will remain unaffected since the points and coil are timed off crankshaft
@SouthernCustomCC
@SouthernCustomCC 4 жыл бұрын
Benjamin Thompson : Thanks for being a part of the community! Your input is greatly appreciated. So even though 1-2mm doesn't seem like much, an extra gasket can raise the jug 1-2mm and completely alter the intake and exhaust timing. Yes, this bike does not have valves, but if you consider the intake port and the exhaust ports are like valves, then the picture becomes clearer. On the standard 2 stroke jug, there is room for error between the heights of the exhaust and intake ports. That is why people port them out to get more power. On these engines, they are more precise on the timing heights of the intake and exhaust, which if altered, will mess up your timing. That means when your magneto is on the fire position and your piston is not at the right place, you'll have jitters and misfire. Also, with an extra gasket, you lessen the compression area during the fire stage of the rotation = less power/torque. There are a lot more specific numbers you can check out, but his was just a quick explanation. I hope it helps answer your question. Thanks again for watching!

Hi I hope you still read comments on your video I know it's not brand new but I was seeking help and I watch a lot of your videos I have an issue with my bike holding the Rev out too long and there's no issue with my throttle cable being stuck or anything of that nature my snap back on the throttle is really nice and I have an idle down really well but when I give it gas and let off it stays High Rev for a little too long I am not quite sure what to do with this I have a reed valve which probably complicates things a little and a speed carb where's the 72 mmm jet if that helps any idea what to check for cuz I've checked for everything and I don't think I have any air leaks or anything of the nature just not quite sure

@@SouthernCustomCC Do you think the Magneto would really make it rev High? @SouthernCustomCC
@SouthernCustomCC 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah.... as long as you are confident it is not your throttle cable getting stuck, the slide in the carb is lined up correctly, the idle screw is adjusted correctly, and you are sure that there are no intake or exhaust gasket leaks...then that is where I would go next. Best of luck to you!

@@SouthernCustomCC so I tried I've graded Magneto I think there's something wrong with me and you know did not work or CBI so I replaced everything it starts up again but still has High Rev a little less worse but still really when I give it gas it holds the gas out for way too long like there's something trapped

Thanks for watching. Not yet, but I assume one will be coming out in the future because the popularity of this engine has exploded lately. If they do this, there will be a height clearance issue though. It wouldn't be able to fit in most setups because of the larger sized CNC heads.

Don't go through gasbike. Net if you get one of these motors I bought one I only got one I feel like because I called in and threatened to report them because I have not received a tracking number or anything within 2 weeks and it was supposed to be sent on the 6th of the month and it ended up being sent a day after my brother ordered it the day before the same motor and then you called in and complained and got his hella fast which makes no sense anyways just a warning the motor comes it's all good except they forget a lock washer for the piston comes with one but is missing a second one I luckily had an old motor I took one off of to replace it my brothers came the same way and I ordered a chain tensioner and they did not come through on that in my order it was written on the box but not in the box bikeberry is not bad half the time I find I've gone through Kings Motorsports they seem to be a little better but I think they are the same company as gasbike since they have the same phone numbers I would go with bikeberry and or search outside and if anyone gets any good tips or leads let me know too as well but that's what I found to be true if you want to take the chance on gasbike. Net 8200 cc motorized bike engine kit it was a little over two hundred a lot cheaper than usual compared to the 300 400 dollar kits that you find

2 cycle. High rpm, easy to work on, but low end torq and very gas thirsty. 4 cycle. Reliable, sips gas, good low end torq, but hard to work on and has weak power at high rpm, larger engine casing. Just my thoughts.

If the piston is in backwards will it still run properly?
@SouthernCustomCC
@SouthernCustomCC 3 жыл бұрын
It will run. It will have no noticeable difference. But after time when the rings loosen up a bit and shrink, the tip of the ring opening may hit the exhaust port opening and bust a ring and then destroy the engine. It's a risk not a guarantee.
