Even if crackle cube was available back then, I would not have picked it due to the "system" it relies on. I could have reached more ques for less $ by now if ignite was available back then. I'm only up to 146 ques now...I most likely still would have gone with cobra even though I have zero interest in doing pyro musicals.

It's interesting you got a misfire. I have tested the dB04r system meticulously and never managed to get it to fault. I do some teardown analysis on my channel. I wonder if the Busican (can't spell it) system is a cheaper clone of the dB04r Happiness Firing System product. Makes me wonder if I should get one to compare....

I agree, I used the ignite i36 this year with a few breakout boards (So glad I realized that was a thing, saved my booty for an epic finale). I'm wondering what's stopping you from bringing your iPad out with you and starting a whole new sequence of queue mods with a separate device. I was hit with a bit of sticker shock this year with the price of fireworks and then stepping up from hand lighting but after doing 2 shows, I will be buying at least 2 more for next year. Hopefully by the time I need more than 216 queues, they will let you do channels instead of colors. ETA: I only had to light about 150 by hand, not counting tubes as I have yet to build a set of proper racks so that I can automate them. Glad I had a helper, we made a SOLID 15 minute show for a local business.

I would like to second this defense of the crackle cube. It really allows you to create a pyromusical at a fraction of the cost of Cobra Modules. I am a neighborhood guy and the crackle cube with bilusocn modules work great. I believe the crackle cube gives people a great electronic firing system without having to purchase 100 ques at cobra pricing. I am not stating the crackle cube is better. I am stating it is a great system that works at a cheap cost compared and perfect for neighborhood pyros that dont feel they need a 2-3K firing system. It is a good product.

I haven’t heard anything official. I know some users have talked about a hack using Android devices and running two apps via a “Secured Folder” but I haven’t seen that done in person. Sounds like you might be entering COBRA territory if you’re anticipating needing more than 216 cues.

I’m genuinely interested in what makes Mongoose a more professional system over COBRA. What specifics help it stand out in that regard? I haven’t used Mongoose.

Sure. I have professionally used Mongoose for 6 years and cobra for 2 years just for a background. Mongoose is 900mhz and does not require any 2.4ghz mesh networking. In extreme conditions of shows this is very important especially for the audio box. For example, I was 150 ft from the audio box from where we had the command center to the dj stand. Had no signal to audio box so moved back to where dj stand was. Lost signal to big guns in the back (900 ft away) but still had good signal to front 9 positions. (This was a 900 cue show) I had also put down 3 booster mods to try to get signal to the audio box but didnt work. Im assuning i was getting some sort of interference from the dj stand. To start the show I had to hold the command center in my hands to have signal to the audio box and then walk back to our shooting table to have signal to big guns. To me that's unacceptable especially in front of thousands of people. I have never ever had signal issues with mongoose. People said I could've done this or that but I'm hot and tired after putting the show together and I expect my system to just work. And that's what Mongoose does, you simply fire the show. I have never had signal issues with Mongoose especially with a $75 yagi antenna. I know Cobra sells their bigger antena but I work with someone who has used Cobra for 10 years says it sucks. Mongoose you can simply plug the audio jack into the dj stand. No audio box required. Or if you have multiple music locations you can make any laptop an audio box with their radio base. Mongoose has two free applications. Show director and music source. A laptop can either be a director or an audio box at a click of a button. Anyways don't get me wrong, I have seen incredible shows shot with Cobra but it just seems I always have to do an extra step for something. Mongoose just works. I say it's for PRO also because it only comes in 48 cues. So to get in is pretty steep. Cobra is definitely budget friendly to get in. I am not saying Cobra is trash. I think Cobra is awesome for backyards and yes pro shows but in extreme conditions I hesitate.

Yeah, if you want to use the Show Creator software you have to pay annually for it. The cost isn’t too bad though at $69. Much cheaper than other paid options out there. There’s guys out there that just use excel though and are happy with that. I could never do that though myself.

I agree 110%... My cube has worked great and I am running a mix of different systems as well. I was already invested into the Happiness system when I found the Crackle cube and it was a total game changer! This just feels more like a cobra commercial...

I don't disagree with you that it's likely the cheapest way to script cues, however; the video wasn't about the best economical choice. It's about my journey and what I recommend as a result. There's a dependency on the RF modules (which come with the manual-fire systems). Consequently, anything that depends on those, I don't recommend due to the battery issues mostly. At 09:20, I do recommend going through the pros and cons of all of these options and deciding what's best for yourself regardless of my opinion, and that poking at the crackle cube was all in good fun and recognizing it may not be for me, but may be for others.

@TheNovicePyro you do know the Crackle Cube it compatible with the dc24a modules? Zero batteries are needed. Rechargeable.. you poking fun is going to hurt a guys start-up. The cobra is RF dependent, too. But Sure, go buy the cobra with 18 cues for $679. But to knock down "poke fun" at a good product you never even used is ridiculous. Novice fits you very well.

@denfireworks I shoot maybe once or twice a year. The CC has worked flawlessly with my pyromusicals. Steve is only going to make it better as it grows. I'll spend the money I save on cues and buy more pyro!

@@czechmate5098 It has been rock solid for me too, and I shoot a lot more times a year. In each show I am running (8) DC24As (10) Happiness R12's and a TON of 4 cue modules with mixed vendors and not a single issue. AND I can still mirror all the systems too and setup multiple positions at a time because the units are so simple. And Steve keeps making the software better and better! I am beta testing the DMX cube too and it is going to be awesome with some tweaks. It is incredible with what he is doing as a one man shop!! Didn't seem like just poking fun to me either...
