Good morning Jamie. Beautifully done friend. I bet you have footage that no one else has. I never realized Port Clinton was so close to Delaware Valley. I always thought it was further north. Many life times ago I walked right through Port Clinton on the Appalachian Trail. Who knew? I also saw it's 74° there right now. Sounds wonderful. I hope you're doing well and having a great day so far friend.

Good afternoon, Dennis! That's awesome that you've passed through Port Clinton on the AT before. Nowadays the trail actually cuts through the rail yard. Most times when I'm out there, I see hikers passing through which is cool. It's only about 1/2 hour north of Reading, so definitely closer to the Delaware Valley than most of the railroad's territory. I'm enjoying another lovely day of temperatures in the 70s and low humidity today. We've got one more like that before a heat wave that will last most of next week. Hope you're doing well too!

Awesome video Jamie! That’s pretty cool how quick the fire caught on everything after it was lit. And super neat to actually hear noise from the water boiling on the second day; usually you can’t hear anything like that when they are operating the locomotive because of the dynamo or just the stack. Very cool though! Looking forward to the other one in the future 🚂💙💙

You guys at RBM&N did an amazing job of getting that beast as straight as humanly possible while retaining the imperfect steam engine cowling look. I was very skeptical of the choice to use gloss paint. I was 100% wrong. It's absolutely Beautiful. And the waves just add character.

Well Jamie that reminded me as a kid starting our coal furnace at home throwing in scraps of wood and paper to get the fire started. Cool video. What an awesome locomotive. Got her twice on the last run. Milino and Shoemakersville. Cool video. I just saw an up date on the 2100 they are working on it and i heard it will be converted to an oil burner. I wish they weren't converting it to oil but seeing it back on the tracks again will be awesome. They said if all possible they will try to get together with the 2102 for a double header.

Thanks, Michael! Really glad you got to see 2102 in action. I'm definitely hoping for that doubleheader with 2100 as well. I'm disappointed about 2100's conversion to burning oil, though it sounds like that's necessary to travel to other railroads.

I had no idea it took this long to prepare a steam locomotive for a run. How long will the engine remain running before the next time it needs another 3 days? Awesome video!
@JamieMakin
@JamieMakin 10 ай бұрын
It's definitely best to bring the steam locomotives up to temperature gradually to ensure nothing gets over-stressed in the process. All of this work goes into preparing the locomotive for just one day of running. They'll shut her down as soon as she gets back to the steam shop after the excursion.

They've got 425 pretty well taken apart, but keeping 2102 going for this year's excursions are their priority. Hoping to get back there to film more of 425 and learn about the progress after "busy season." From what I heard it's going well though.

From what I understand it's better to raise the temperature slowly to avoid potential damage to the parts if things heat up and expand too quickly. They probably could do it quicker, but might not be worth the risk.
