READ THIS IF YOUR FIRMWARE IS STILL NOT UPDATING. For everyone asking why this guys advice still hasn't helped you. Check the version number of the firmware against the version installed on the scope. If the version number is the same your scope will not perform the automatic update when you turn it on. You're Welcome, no idea why no one posted this in over a year.

For everyone asking why the firmware update prompt won’t show up- MAKE SURE TO FORMAT CARD IN THE SCOPE. If you format card in your computer it will not prompt. Hoped this helped

Interesting, but I've a question... I did exactly as this video suggests, but now the scope has problems: will not shut off, has a ?-52x rather than the 5-20x, can't get the compass to work at all, doesn't work when switching from 50 yds to 100 yds... I'm going to try this again and see if it fixes this mess... Thank you for your time and video...

I recently bought the X Sight LTV 5-15. Love it. I have already hunted with it, successfully. Now I want to record, but when I put the sd card in I get a message that the card is not mounted. What does that mean?

Digging down The rabbit hole all the way, i was finally able to really factory reset and install the latest firmware, wich i really didnt have, even what it said in the device. If you have the same problem that the prombt doesnt show up for the firmware update do this. I have the 4kpro 5-20. In the website where are the downloads go all the way down and click the "ATN factory restore firmware setup" download the program for your pc and do it how it says on the video. After that i was finally able to update firmware and hopefully i got rid of all the bugs.

i have 2 scoops just like this and they both fail so much issues with it i try to update just like the video and it update the file one but wen i go to the web update it fails and one of my scopes turns on but then blank screen cant do shit with it then the other one none of the buttons work i have done so much to make it work and it just sucks and both of these scopes has less then one hour on them . its so hard to get a hold of them because of from hawaii and the time zones are why off so i dont know what to do now

If your scope came with the latest firmware do you still have to update it ? I just got one and it’s the same version as the update .

When trying to get to the Setup Menu i see a ERR in Red on top the screen and only thing i can get to is setting up the Range Finder setting or shutting it off by holding the Power Button down. Could it be the 128gb SanDisk C10 card i have in the Unit ?? - correct if i am doing something wrong. The Unit is New and Fully Charged also. UPDATE -- i got to the Main Menu finally and did the FW update to the new one -- and reset the Unit -- and i used the 128gb SanDisk micro card -- removed the card and deleted the .bin file before reinstalling and powering back up, but it still has that ERR message on top the screen. I have a 32gb card on order.

How can you tell if the firmware has updated? Please don’t say “by clicking yes on update firmware”. I’m past all that and very confused. Is there any other way I can check?

This may help. I don't have a computer so I have to always update from my phone using a USB/c port card reader adapter. Format the card in the scope. Turn the scope off and remove the SD card and insert it into a card reader. Download the correct firmware for your scope onto your phone. I pull up my file manager on the phone and locate the file. copy the file onto the microSD card. Note, if your phone does not let you move or copy it directly to the SD card which occurred in my case, I just created a new file folder called ATN update on my phone's internal storage. From there I was able to move/copy The firmware update file to the SD card. Here's the important part!! When you formatted the card in the scope there should be two folders on the SD card from formatting. One will be ATN the second will be LOST. DIR , when moving the file from where it's stored on your phone to the SD card Make sure it doesn't move into either of those two folders. It should just show up when looking at it as three folders. When I was moving the file to the micro SD card it's kept moving The update info into The ATN folder, so when I was putting the card back in the scope and turning the power on it would not recognize it and prompt for update. Once I figured out that the update should not be in either of the two folders, powering on the scope recognized the file and prompted for an update. If you're doing it from a computer I would imagine it's the same situation. Once it updates don't forget format the SD card again as well as going to settings and do a factory reset. If you're using the abl (rangefinder) pair it. Make sure to go into scope menu and turn on advanced shortcuts so the range button on the scope works.

Wow, after reading all these comments, I think I will NOT update my 4k Pro. It's working now, I don't want it freezing up and losing ability to use ABL. Can't believe it's still so buggy.

I bought X-sight 5-204K few days ago. On the ATN web site is no option to update 4K version. Just x-sight ltv, X-sight II and x-sight. Which one do I have to use?

I just bought the new ATN xsight 4k 3-14, I went online and registered & downloaded the firmware & copied it to my Micro sd card per your tutorial, however when I put it in the scope n power it on it does not prompt for firmware update...I reformatted the card, downloaded it n installed it again same results, does my scope already have latest firmware or do I have a problem, I did not do a factory reset as I was scared I'd mess the scope up, what do I need to do ?

Yesterday I visit the ATN Corp website to see if here was an updated firmware available for my ATN ThOR 4 - I did see that there was a new firmware available for my scope (3.3.11.480) I download it the bin file and copied it on my microSD card. After this I followed the update instruction. After all these steps I now have the "ERR" displayed in the scope. I then tried the ATN Factory restore firmware for the OBSIDIAN 4 DEVICE SERIES I was hoping that this would help and again I still have the "ERR" displayed. Can you or anyone else help me with this situation? The reason I wanted to upload the latest firmware it was because it would not hookup to my iPhone, it kept telling the password I was using (atnsmarthd) to pair up my scope to my iPhone was incorrect - At this point I can't use the OBSIDIAN 4 APP and with "ERR" don't know if my scope will function correctly.

Hello, I have an X-Sight 4k Pro 5-20x scope, it has the problem that it froze shortly after turning on. I have updated the firmware with the latest version of the ATN page, I also did the ATN factory restore firmware procedure and it did not work either, the scope continues to freeze within a few minutes of turning it on. After I update the latest firmware and power up the scope I notice the compass on the scope has an ERR, the scope still hold zero but I don't know why ?

This information is obsolete. The X-Sight firmware isn't available in that menu and the download from another web page isn't a .bin file.

Well, total failure. Scope is an ATN Thor 4, new scope, but running firmware version 3.3.08.430. Changed memory card to a high quality Transcend, which I specifically went out and purchased, just so I had the identical card shown.. to remove that out of the equation. Let the scope format the card.. fine, done.. Downloaded new firmware version 4.3.3.09.455, fresh off of ATN's website. Copied file from downloads folder, to root of card. turned scope off.. inserted card. Booted scope, came up with Update Firmware? Yes/No prompt.. Selected Yes, Screen goes blank for a bit, then comes up with the Updating firmware prompt, the round circle progress bar, at which point it shows progress, slowly, very little movement. Got to 57%, then says "update failure", only to continue saying it's updating firmware.. at which point it just freezes the scope display and never does anything else. I have to hard reboot the scope, pressing and holding the power button until it finally shuts off. Power back up, no change. This sucks. I don't think it's anything I've done wrong at this point, as I write firmware code all the time. Is there a different kernel version? Bootstrap or loader that's corrupt? The scope was literally purchased just a few months ago, so not sure what's going on. Is there a known bug or something going on, where this doesn't work? I'm trying to update, because the problem I have with my scope, is the fact that WiFi doesn't work on it, at all. This scope has been cool to a point, but I'm getting irritated, as now without wifi and live stream ability on WiFi, I'm stuck with no ability to stream video from the scope. Entire reason I spent $4200, was for the ability to not only have thermal, but also the interface and ability to live stream, record and have a WiFi interface. ugh.. oh well, it's Memorial day weekend and you guys are closed. Sadly, I own 2 companies and my time off is so limited that I rarely, like 2 x a year, have enough time to even leave.. I guess there's always next year. I'll have it figured out by then, or I'll buy a new scope I guess.

The worst scope I have ever used. Almost 2 years,and no firmware update solve the black screen issue,or freezing. Very sesnitive to cold weather. If you go hunting on winter with this scope,stay home. Zoom not working,if you have the scope on for more then about 10 minutes it freeze. You have to restart and that takes about 30-40 seconds. Enough for any animal to be aware that someone is watching. In the summer time everything works fine,but I would better use a flashlight than have a failed hunting session. Very dissapointed.

Won't factory reset loose my zero

Bought one today, turned it on had a look, hooked up the charger, turned it off waited 6 hours now it won't turn on. Retuning it tommrow for a refund. All l wanted was a night vision scope, l don't wand to go and do a computer course to get it up and running. I'm going back to a good spotlight and scope. If your not a whizz kid with computers and understand computer terminology FORGET IT.

Very not helpful at all. The process for updating the 4k pro is much harder now. I attempted to update it Nd now my unit won't even turn on. For $700 dollars you can buy a much more reliable day scope.
