A warm day for January (50s) and it was the calmest I've ever seen the field, perfect flying day. Here's a flight of my Lanzo, and some flights of Oliver's Gollywock and Comet Pepper, all great flyers!

I really enjoy your videos, so much so that I'm returning to rubber powered free-flight (and radio assist) this year after a break of about 50 years! Keep up the good work - your videos are a lot of fun to watch and very instructional.

Thank you, that's exactly what I'm hoping the site will do, I was out of the hobby for many years as well. With a little radio assist we can get out there again without traveling for hours and have some fun!

Thank you - that's exactly my approach to the flying parts - I want it to be like you're out there standing next to us!

Nice. Beautiful. Flying in the middle of Manhattan is just incredible.

Yes I was very happy when I realized that it was possible, thanks to light RC.

Always amazed you manage to get such great flights from such a small confined area and love your enjoyment and enthusiasm that really comes across! :D happy flying!

Sometimes I wish I was quieter but it's just too much fun!

Great to see you flying, always impress you can keep them in the field. Happy New Year 😁😁

I've gotten better at it in that I know where not to go and what not to do! That's why I was steering Oliver away from those buildings on the northeast side of the field - there are some weird winds around those buildings and if you get in the wrong spot you can't get back!

Yes, nice to see a young modeler for a change, not that there's anything wrong with all of us old farts!

A+. The last flight reminded me of thermals my P30 caught last summer. There were two times I didn’t think I was getting that thing back when the DT was slow. I love rubber power + rudder RC !!!
@domoremath Жыл бұрын
That's what I like about rudder RC, you can steer out of even the biggest thermals so you don't need a DT, plus I can't DT into trees or traffic!

Happy New Year, gents--enjoyed watching your amazing flights! We had rain in the afternoon, so that was a nice vicarious flying session...👍 (definitely more fun than watching Elon's Gulfstream 🤣)

Great flying! How do You paint those nice colors on Mylar film?
@domoremath Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I use 'just for flowers' spray paint, two light coats. It's mentioned in some videos (check the Pacific Ace video), I also usually mention the color I used in the building videos.

With your rudder only RC , a neutral thrust trim would have you turning left under power and straight on glide. We would trim against torque for a right turn under power that made a tighter glide for landing or thermal ride so you wouldn't loose it. Are you trimming the radio for a right turn because it will climb better?
@domoremath Жыл бұрын
I know some people are left-right flyers, but I've almost always flown right-right for both free-flight and rubber RC.
@ryderphillips4464 Жыл бұрын
So you trim the plane for free flight, for a right turn. And RC is just for correcting and landing, only as needed.
@domoremath Жыл бұрын
@@ryderphillips4464 Exactly, the plane is trimmed for free flight, I like the trimming part so I don't want to lose that, the RC rudder is just for steering it back to the field, away from trees, and out of any thermals if need be, that's also why I like rudder-only.

Do your models ever hit buildings?
@domoremath Жыл бұрын
No, in 12 years of rubber RC assist, I've never hit a building! I've hit the trees, the fence, and the damn goal posts a few times. In this video, my coupe ended up on the roof of a building, but I got it back (after a few days) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/etZ4n9GBp9iYlXk.html
