Loved the Phantom work on this one Travis...especailly towards the end...the higher altitude work really gave a nice perspective on the farm. Flyby over the house was great too!

Great video Ryan. We're hoping to try to put some anhydrous on this week. Conditions are good enough yet to do any real tillage, but we think the ground will carry to knife in our nitrogen .

Did you mowing you this water way on fields? It looks very nice from a dron. Here in Poland I plant my corn 10 days ago.
@pamelawilkinson45158 жыл бұрын
do you have those outer blades on the disk because the smooth end ones left ruts? I have a 635 rock flex disk like that but we have smaller normal blades on the end of the wings and they really bite in and leave ruts that the 25' packer can't level
@nemodot8 жыл бұрын
I reacently suscribed to the channel. The footage is awesome but I have little clue on how farms actually work, could you do some explaining? I know it may be redundant if you've already explained it before, but a short introduction would be great. I work in another whole different industry but I like farming and I have no experience in it.
@francesnieznay66238 жыл бұрын
Did you guys ever think of draging a piece of old well casing behind the disk to flatten out the ground even more?

Ryan we work all of our popcorn ground twice . Do you guys work your corn ground twice ? Here in central Indiana we picked our popcorn up and was informed we only have till 5/25/16 to get our popcorn in the ground but calling rain all this coming week we might be in trouble if so 1750 acres of beans

I like the drone work at the end. When planting, do you center the tractor wheels over the lines the arms on the planter makes?

Wonder if they are putting down in the other two bins? I've heard of pop up fertilizer. It could be a fungicide, fertilizer or maybe something for nematodes. I've seen all three bins used in planting 12 rows of peanuts.
@tractorsold18 жыл бұрын
We used to have large bins in the front for fertilizer, small bins in the back for seed. Seems like evetyone has three bins now, and I've been wondering what the third is for.
@farmingforfunandprofit9408 жыл бұрын
+jbmbanter In the past we used a really bad chemical in the rear hoppers for peanuts but this year we wont be using them...We use the fertilizer tanks for liquid innoculant metered into the seed trench...Front tank on tractor is for prowl -valor spray behind planter....One pass strip-till

Way not leaving the duals on. this decrease the ground pressure by half. Or are they massive. Or are they mounted on the wrong planting distends.

why take the Duallys off for planting we leave the Duallys on the 4640 when we plant

What are the outriggers on the planter for?
@larrystockwell89948 жыл бұрын
+B Laquisha They are markers. They measure out and leave a line or mark for the driver to follow so the rows between the planter passes are near the same as row spacing of the planter.
@mrutt498 жыл бұрын
Have you guys thought about a 12 row planter
@lukevarel4178 жыл бұрын
Would defiantly be a good investment, they should look into a John Deere 12/23 CCS (Center Fill) that 8235R they have would be a good match for that style/size planter.
@taylorhandfield48548 жыл бұрын
+Luke Varel it would be a great investement. 2 years ago my uncle got rid of the 6 row, and got a 12 row planter. So much better in many ways. It is also one of the planters that has one large hopper of seed, and uses air to fill smaller hoppers on each seed unit. This investment cut planting time over half. 12 rows + one large seed hopper = A lot of time saved.

What are the advantages of plowing the soil before planting?
@rhoadesy_65678 жыл бұрын
+Cogumelo DoSol Many reasons. Tillage kills weeds, helps raise the soil temp faster, work in fertilizer, and create a good seed bed for the seeds to grow in.

Why don’t you plant end rows?
@sweetfarmsllc88868 жыл бұрын
Have you thought of going to a soil finisher or field cultivator? That much discing is just packing the ground 6-8 inches down...
@TheRestOfTheStory8 жыл бұрын
+Joe yep, considering incorporating a culitivator pass before planting
@sweetfarmsllc88868 жыл бұрын
+Travman035 One other side note, with theat tractor you could easily pull a 30ft field cultivator w/ a 5 bar drag, could probably pull a 35ft. You could go faster than the disc, and leave a much nicer seed bed. You can see in some of the planter shots some big clods of dirt left from the disc. That is affecting your planter ride, which will affect depth control. Need to really think about updating your tillage practices, it will show results..
@TheRestOfTheStory8 жыл бұрын
+Joe one thing at a time, all takes money and you have to go by priority.
@jackporklawncare78278 жыл бұрын

why aren't you driving in straight lines with the 8325R?
@Theorimlig8 жыл бұрын

Why do you plant some corn in strips when you could just plant the entire field?
@TheRestOfTheStory8 жыл бұрын
+Jack Eike control/reduce runoff. Also to diversify the crops across the farms.
@jacob-ze1ed8 жыл бұрын
Why did you take the duals off for planting?
@HowFarmsWork8 жыл бұрын
+jacob We took them off to minimize our footprint, and we shouldn't really need them anymore now that we're done chisel plowing.
@jacob-ze1ed8 жыл бұрын
+How Farms Work I never thought of that before, the 4640 looks better on the planter than the 7600 ever did, another great video Ryan!
@jack99church8 жыл бұрын
+Ridin' Green it would reduce compaction yes
@perryc89438 жыл бұрын
Take the dual wheels off so you don't hit the planner when you turn around since you're making a sharp turn at the end of every row.
@HowFarmsWork8 жыл бұрын
Duals are supposed to minimize compaction, but it's easier turning without the duals.Ridin' Green

I can't believe y'all don't use a rolling basket or something behind your disk... It would easily leave your soil in perfect shape for planting w without the additional disk passes, save fuel, wear n tear, and time, and hours on the tractor. The money y'all spent on that drag harrow would have been FAR better spent on a rolling basket to pull behind the disk.... You really should check one out... It really would pay for itself with the better job and time and fuel saved... Later! OL J R
@larrykriete70358 жыл бұрын
Isn't that tractor awfully big and clumsy on a six row ? I had a JD7000 six row and used a 185 Allis Chalmers in no till ,with 150 gallon saddle tanks for starter and did 850 acres a year for almost 20 years . All heavy clay and terraces.
