So, here’s why you have to be careful when running your row cleaners to deep . You create a low spot where your seed is, and if it rains hard enough it will bury your seed even deeper. Corn, it will come up eventually just take longer. Beans? No bueno. Sometimes it will bake, crust and can’t push through. I’ve seen it happen with corn too. Cotton? They are a lot like beans, where you do t plant it deep and hope you don’t get a rain because it wont push through. Then it breaks its stem trying to emerge and you get to replant.

For leveling on your own. Thought would be to suspend or hang down some wood blocks in chains. (Eyebolts and clasps). Quick remove to store once set. Give you a visual indicator from the cab when setting up on your own.

in my experience from breaking up old hey fields i think that the reason the hills on your rented ground is clumpy compared to the lower spots is do to moisture in the soil when it was broke

Great video! Again, a pointer… if you work the ground at a slight angle then plant your rows straight it will help feed the planter more level ground and allow the cultivator/ disc to better chop the stalks..

It's exciting time to plant my soybeans are up here in Pennsylvania. And my corn is on the ground. I noticed the drawbar is wearing awful hard on the backside maybe the corn planter needs to be leveled out or another piece of equipment wearing it that bad you can get a nylon piece of plastic to put in between the hitch to help with where on the drawbar

If you want to do your own planting on Spencer's farm, might be cool to rent a six row planter to pull behind the 4020, to not waste planting season time roading the 12 row. Then, you can still combine with the 6 row combine.

On the 1760/1765s, if there's nothing for the wings to hit, you can leave the planter unfolded and just insert the center link to get across crossings with tubes in them like the one at 27:50. Let's you do the crossing without having to drop your vacuum that way.

Grant buy some hitch saver disks for your drawbar. Saves on wearing as you can see the wear on the 8110. Also another thing I do is colored zip ties for the hydraulic ends and always put a red one for the right hose. Makes hooking up alone very easy. Cheap, easy, and effective. Check shoup, good luck this year!

Spencer I don't think putting corn into that old CRP is a bad idea at all. In general I hate to see the CRP disappearing by the year as far as habitat loss but if it's going to be farmed nothing wrong with corn. Why pull all those sticks and debris into the bean head at least corn your higher off the ground with the head.
@thelunatick1993
@thelunatick1993 Жыл бұрын
If only the solar farms mounted those panels higher in the air. Then perhaps the it could create the habitat to offset CRP loss. (I have issues with solar farms)

I don't know how ya'll get rid of your seed bags, but here is an idea if you burn them,take an old disc harrow, and a rod long enough with a point on it and weld it them together and when you empty your seed bags you can shove them on that rod and burn them without them blowing away.
