I’ve always hated the time feature in Dead Rising. That’s what I was looking forward to most about 4 but I couldn’t get into it because it felt so slow frames wise. I don’t get the Acolyte hate. It’s usually just ok. I really enjoyed the first ep and ep 5. Sol and Qimir are standouts. For the dungeon question, do the ones in Hades and Hades 2 count? No real favorites there, but I like how they’re all distinct in tone and visuals, the monsters in them, the lore tied to them, etc. What Hades 2 does with them especially, in the later parts of the game via unlockables is neat as well. Really ties both games together.

Base game Elden ring spoilers - - - - Picking a favourite dungeon is quite difficult. I'm leaning more toward newer releases for my pick (I grew up mostly playing Pokémon games (not understanding English made every cave dungeonlike) and games like Skylanders, which don't really have true dungeons. I really enjoyed Stormville castle. The progression through the castle felt rewarding, with you facing progressively more difficult enemies (with the grafted scion as a highlight, on which you could finally take revenge for what one of those did to you in the tutorial). The most impressive and therefore my favourite has to be Raya Lucaria though. I was so focussed on progressing past those pesky sorcerers, that I missed most of the side routes and vertical exploration on my first playthrough. When I returned on a fresh character (to prep for the DLC release), I noticed all the sideroutes I had missed. The lifts, the fake wall and the portal to Volcano Manor were things I only just found. I always appreciated Raya Lucaria for it's visuals and atmosphere, but appreciate Raya Lucaria and Elden Ring as a whole that much more for the exploration it still offers (screw the ball on the bridgelike path though, that enemy-type is terrible). Thanks for yet another nice podcast to listen to while working, appreciate it

Ketchup is also often made from carrots, really depends on where it is produced, here in SEA apples are quite expnsive, carrots are easy to grow tho. Caramelized onions are the sjiz in burgers tho.

The best dungeons for me are the caves in Deep Rock Galactic. It has massive open areas contrasted by tight, claustrophobic tunnels. Some caves have organic light sources while others are pitch black and require you to use your limited flares strategically. I often found myself getting lost or separated from my squad, especially during intense combat sequences which led to epic moments of having to find my own way back to the escape pod before the countdown expired. The game does a fantastic job of making you feel like you're immersed in the caverns of an alien planet.

Got past the Elden Ring learning curve and really enjoying this game more than I thought I would...first From game I've played. This is on a 14" monitor but getting a 31.5" 4K 144Hz monitor with speakers shortly that will make the experience substantially better. A new PC in 2025 will elevate it further...think I'm done with consoles...sorry Phil. My central AC hasn't worked for over 20 years/need new system. Have used three portable Honeywell AC units successfully...until it goes over 95 degrees.

Best dungeon question: All the tombs/Cellar areas in Assassins Creed Odyssey & Valhalla. The amount of work Ubisoft puts into those is staggering. Also the fact that I always discover them at random and only later find out they tie into some side quest/story. Just discovered the 3 witch sisters one in Valhalla by chance. Also, no loading screens to transition between areas, power of Ubisoft's Anvil engine. Frankly, why I hate Fallout 4/Gotham Knights "dungeons." They feel like separate areas to the game-world due to loading screens, super immersion breaking.

What is the best dungeon? I don’t know. The dungeons that impressed me the most are Catacombs and Tomb of the Giants in first Dark Souls, because it was my first experience where the game wasn’t adapting to me, but I had to adapt to it. It impressed me with overwhelming darkness that probably showed up only in Dragons Dogma. It is an area that challenges you to give up items you have in order to progress further. Are you going down with a weapon and a shield but stay blind or are you going to give up the shield for a torch and risk receiving more damage from enemies? Your choice. You can also find lantern, special helm or invest into your intelligence to buy a magic of light. Skeletons you defeat are rising up again and you don’t understand why. Is it just this location or is someone rising them up? Should you invest into divine weapon that will help you kill them permanently? Do you use a sharp weapon or a blunt weapon to keep the skeletons as a pile of bones? Every single step down is full of traps, skeletons and holes that leads to your death. Is it beautiful dungeon? No, it is dark and full of terrors. Is it memorable? My answer is yes.

Played the game, and tbh, it is pretty fun minus the micro-transactions, lack of story, and lack of mission or enemy variety. Just a mid game in general, but there is still fun to be had. It’s like destiny where the gunplay is fantastic but it just becomes a chore eventually. Progression is good though and it doesn’t feel overly grindy

For me the best dungeon so far were the Palaces in Persona 5. Each dungeon has integration with the "outside world" so it forces additional interactions. I can do them at my own pace. Each is unique in visuals and the music motivates me always to push further.

In the USA you go firework crazy on July 4th. In Britain the go firework crazy for 1 month round about November the 5th holiday. The Brits go over the top with them .Big city shows have been stopped years ago (shame)

I don’t think having to view “fireworks from the side” and not seeing them properly is a thing Jonny. Most can be seen from all angles and shows usually take into account that people are sitting in all directions. Fireworks are one thing that just isn’t the same as seeing in person. When you’re close enough to feel the booming explosions in your chest is second to none. Go out and watch them for real man!

i dunno man. after 40 years of seeing fireworks here and there, it's just not worth my time anymore to go out to a specific place to sit and watch a show like that. i don't really get watching it on a screen either, though. i'm glad other people enjoy them but if fireworks were outlawed worldwide tomorrow i would probably not even notice

Just a heads up, the Esports World Cup, while theoretically being a good event, dont forget where it takes place. The Saudis are throwing a bunch of money at the devs and teams to participate in it. Its one of the sportswashing events they do with "normal" sports too and we all know that there are human rights problems there. Take it with a grain of salt...

It's a Korean game. They exist only to make money off of whales. They WILL make the game awful and grindy on purpose to force you to spend money if you want to compete.

Meh, I'm finding First Descendent pretty fun...it's not reinventing the wheel and is basically reskinned Warframe in a 2024 UE5 form, but I'm enjoying it for the time being.

I think my answer for what game I would show a historical figure would be Hitler and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. The way that game portrays him as a sniveling little shithead weirdo was tremendous and it would be extremely satisfying to show someone like that what their legacy is.
