Want a mid-sized hybrid luxury sedan that costs around $60k? That price probably rules out many German luxury cars but there are some great choices from Japan including the Acura RLX Sport Hybrid and the Lexus GS 450h. Let’s take a first drive in each of these luxury hybrids and see what each bring to the table.
When it comes to luxury car styling the front end really sets the tone. The Lexus GS 450h and its spindle grille has been around for a couple of years and really does not give you that WOW factor. On the other-hand the Acura RLX Sport Hybrid has a front end that is sharp and aggressive. The Jewel Eyed headlights and black mesh grille puts out all the right vibes. Wheels make a statement when it comes to luxury cars and the Acura RLX Sport Hybrid comes with 19-inch rims with a sharp multi-spoke design compared to the Lexus GS 450h which has bland 18-inch rims. Out back though the Acura RLX Sport Hybrid is a bit too over styled while the Lexus GS 450h has the clean and tidy look.
First impressions on the interior of the Acura RLX Sport Hybrid is that the seats are nice and comfortable. The RLX has a traditional dashboard and is out-of-date when it comes to the infotainment set-up. On the other-hand the Lexus GS 450h sports a nice crisp 10-inch infotainment display. Rear passenger rooms is adequate in the Lexus GS 450h but the Acura RLX Sport Hybrid is more spacious and comfortable.

I would personally take the Acura. When they had that "beak shield" grill thing... I was very turned off from the brand. Now this new grill is beautiful and cool lookin.. I think. Big luxury. AWD. Close to 400hp. Acura RLX for me

It is a bit, but the heads up display has digital tach and speed gauge. Better in person, I don't care much for the look either, but it works

WHERE DO I FIND THE 2019 0-60 TIMES? I test drove the RLX Hybrid and was blown away by its acceleration. Clearly on par with a Tesla!

I would take a TLX A-spec or IS Fsport over both of these. The RLX and GS are just expensive versions of them.

You see the Acura is nice very nice they both are but the RLX is acuras flagship car the GS is not Lexus flagship model it’s the LS and that crushes the Acura and in terms of engine choice the Lexus blows the Acura away with it’s one engine option. I do love he Acura but I prefer the rear wheel drive of the GS

The RLX is the flagship sedan it’s suppose to go against the Lexus LS model not the GS model the Acura TLX goes against the Lexus GS model that’s how it’s suppose to be. Segment vs segment

The RLX is the flagship of Acura; but, no way it could hang with V-8 powered Lexus LS, Audi A8, MB S-class, Jag XF, 7/8 Series BMW. The TLX is matched against the Lexus IS, BMW 3 series, Audi A3, or MB A-class for price, features, and power.

GS is RWD-based. RLX is FWD-based. GS wins based on that alone. The GS450h F-Sport is a hot car. This non F-Sport is pretty boring.

signdetres The RLX hybrid can send 77% of its torque to the rear wheels. The SH-AWD doesn’t understeer like a typical transverse engine setup

Unfortunately, both of these cars are dead in the water. This specific segment really just comes down to two cars currently, the E-Class and 5 Series. Nothing even comes close in terms of sales (and same price points). If Acura had any sense, they would create a new large SUV positioned above the MDX since that's where the market is. Lexus also needs a crossover large SUV and eliminate the GX and LX. HOWEVER, I am a fan of the RLX Hybrid. From a styling standpoint, neither of these cars is really distinguished, but the RLX would be my choice. The GS interior is also a bit on the boring side, albeit with very high quality materials. The Acura's two-screen system is outdated. Neither are intuitive in use or function. I would definitely choose the RLX Hybrid to have in my garage if choosing between these two.

3:01 just sold me the Lexus. All this fun to drive shit is useless to me. I WANT a LUXURY car, I want a quiet smooth ride. Lexus all day everyday. Oh and the RLX looks like it compares to the LS, which the LS will beat the crap out of that.

yeah and then Genesis over Lexus because Lexus styling has still not grown on me and Genesis is cheaper, styling is better inside and out imo.
