I bought a 1996 Suzuki Jimny Kei car from Japan, sight unseen. Well, I had about 30 pictures. I flew out to British Columbia, and drove it over 2,000 kms home! It has a 660cc turbo engine, and is small enough to park in the tightest of Canadian parking spaces. My Dad was nice enough to fly out with me and help me get it home. Here's how it went!

I love it. I did the exact same thing, newer Jimny but same area (new Westminster), same drive home 😃 Funny thing, I also had a prelude.

It's a great drive! I did it with my Land Cruiser Prado as well. Funny about the Prelude, great minds....

Thanks, it definitely impressed me, it handled the highway miles much better than I anticipated. Check out my new video with the Jimny! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ouCHZ5h3ubSxeZc.html

I managed to get to 125 km/h at 5100 rpm in my Jimmy. By no means was this an easy feat but unless one has very steady hands I would not advise making such an attempt.

Only $5,000 that’s amazing! What country did you find the Jimny in ? If you don’t mind what is the shipping process? Thanks

Do you mind me asking what you paid all in after auction, shipping, import and duties? Looking at getting one as well 👌🏻

No problem, I believe it was $5k cleared in Vancouver. I flew out to pick it up, and still had to pay PST in Manitoba to register it!

How comfortable is the driving position. Does the seat move back for adjustment.

The driving position is pretty good, the seat does adjust back and forth, as well as recline. Not really intended to be a long distance cruiser, but I can comfortably spend a few hours in it!

I was wondering how comfortable it would be for a taller driver. since you put some hours and miles (kilometers) on your drive back home. Since the jimny is a Japanese domestic vehicle I did not know how the ergonomics would be.

I'm around 5'11, and I have no issues with height, the seats easily move far enough back and I have plenty of head room.
