First Impressions: Kaweco Pearl

Hello again,
I'm sure you've seen plenty of videos showing off this pen. But I wanted to throw my thoughts in and hope you enjoy watching. I'm a huge fan of Kaweco, and although I do not feel like I need every color, I like collecting the colors that catch my eye.
I don't think my video gives all of the pretty swirls justice. And I am so happy with the ink I switch to, even though Mulberry is such a lovely color. Sailor 162 works so much better for me. I also have a different ink color in mind for my Rose Gold Kaweco, but that's for another video.
What's a new pen or ink you've recently acquired or hoping to add to your collection?
I also wanted to add my heart goes out to everyone in Ukraine and their neighbors. I know words can only offer a bit of comfort, but I hope there is an end in sight for this war. I want to link to my friend Mary's channel. She's in Poland and is using her Kofi proceeds to help Ukraine. But of course, you should help in any way that is comfortable for you.

Oh my gosh, that line up. Mermaid colors! Bummer about that Ferris Wheel ink. I love the idea of it, but am in a similar thought boat as you. The sailor ink looks like a big win! :D

Nice, that sailor ink is perfect for it. I have the frost white so it's holding me back from buying this pearl.

Yes, they are pretty similar. The hints of different colors is what swayed me.:)

If you’re looking for better flow in an ink, you could try the tiniest dab of dish soap in your cartridge. Use a toothpick and just dab a tiny bit on the top and mix into your cartridge or converter. I do it all the time instead of changing nibs

I think the Kaweco Blue ink you used is a nice color combo. :) Are you still using that color?

I have Ferris Wheel Press’s Lady Rose in Gold and I run into the same issue with anything less than a medium nib. The color is gorgeous but far too light! Hope it ends up working out for you, the iridescent finish on that pen looks fun to play with pinks and purples :)

Yes! Some inks have great shading but you can never tell if they are too light and bigger nibs show them off better. So far, the nib change has been helping with the ink change.

Sailor Manya Haha might look nice in it too. Have you tried a bulb syringe for cleaning? I always had issues with left over ink in the feeds until I started using one.

I just got the Iridescent Pearl Sport yesterday….I had Sailor Ink Studio 224 in it first, too light and kind of boring…so I added some Diamine Pink Glitz and got a pearly soft muted coral shade. Love the pen, it’s so pretty. But I’m not one to match pens to inks, I don’t really care if they match. I do love the Sailor Ink Studio inks, though. I think you can take the feed section out, for cleaning…..I’ve done it with another Kaweco Sport.

I thought about using 224 too! It looks better in a bigger nib. Coral is pretty! I love matching my pens with their inks, but contrast is also nice. :) And thank you! However, the ink is stuck between the sleeve and the grip section. I would need to remove the nib, feed, and sleeve to remove the ink. The metal Kawecos are great because those three items screw out of the grip. I even read somewhere that the sleeve might be glued in for the standard sports. I've only ever removed the nib and feed from a standard Sport. And I am a bit scared to attempt removing the sleeve myself. :/

I have Robert Oster Grey Seas in mine. I've thought about trying some of my sailor inks in it as well. :)

If you have a piece of rubber to grip and remove the nib and feed, you should be able to clean it :)

Very cool! I’m super excited for mine to come in mail. I had to order mine from cult pens bc all the us retailers sold out to fast! I’m lucky I got one tho so waiting a few extra days for international shipping really isn’t that big of a deal lol 😂

@@InsideKimmysMind the pearl kaweco actually arrived this morning! And I thought awhile about what to ink it with, but decided on a diamine sheening ink that’s an exclusive to cult pens called “iridescink” since I ordered the pen and ink from cult pens at same time, I was excited to use them both lol

The only FWP ink I’ve purchased is the Madam Mulberry, and it’s about too light for my taste. I can’t remember what size nib I used, maybe just a medium sized one. As far as inks, sometimes I’ll match a pen and ink, but usually I’ll just get the ink that’s calling me, lol. Do you eyedropper your Kaweco Sports?

I'm using an ornament nib with a 3mm tip. But this is not the best swatch. This nib usually can hold a lot of ink on a good day. >.
