In this video, we use our new GRCS. The capabilities of this device is endless and will open up whole new avenues of tree work. Along with being a time saver, it lessens the physical load on the crew. I'm excited to have added this to the arsenal and cannot recommend it enough for any tree company, no matter how big or small. This will pay for itself in a week!

Awesome. Thank you for not adding in a bunch of background music and letting everyone hear what your thinking. You sold me on how great that GRS is.

It can be a great tool. Certainly has the perfect applications when needed. I particularly really appreciated the GRCS when I had lateral work that needed some serious tension. My only suggestion would be to not get overly reliant on it. Nine times out of ten I still lean on old methods, they just seem to get the job done a bit faster. And I just dont have the patience for all the set up and slow winching. Also dont let the GRCS play mind games with ya, looks like your knot is set up backwards at 16:02... Nice job, enjoy the new tool!

I think the one thing to be good at on the g r c s is the ability to cut your notch correctly so that it closes at the correct time so it breaks the hinge wood , I still am not good at it .

Tension in your rigging is addictive. One thing I love with the Goods is if the piece gets stuck on the way down, easy to crank it back up and move it around...

Instead of putting a scarf in you could try just back cutting to oral it up then release,that way it will hold on with more control,but as you know it dies also depend on the type of timber your cutting as to weather or not it wants to snap or hold on,good stuff cheers

I made my own grcs and I love it ! I think in the future I’ll do a video on its construction, I want to do my part to make life in the tree industry a little easier and affordable! I have a small Mashine shop and a blacksmithing forge , I think I spent 200 dollars to build mine . Climb safe !!

I would love to see that as well. I have considered making something similar. Harken sells that winch for like $1800 and people are paying another $2k for a fabbed steel bracket and a ratchet strap! lol

@@In-The-Trees I find it quicker and easier most of the time to piece things down rather than lift. I took down a big oak a while back that had one big, long limb that needed to be lifted and pulled around. I set a block in an adjacent tree and set a pull line with a throwline, tensioned slightly with the truck, climbed up and notched and back-cut, then used the truck to lift and swing it around.

What are your thoughts on using a step cut as opposed to the traditional notch here? Not got a grcs yet so just spit balling
@In-The-Trees
@In-The-Trees 6 ай бұрын
I personally can't think of a good reason to use a step cut. The reason we use open face is so we can stand the limb up with hinge wood connecting it, putting the cutter in control. If you were to use a step cut/snap cut, the wood would break far to early and the limb is free to do whatever it wants as we try and stand it up. Hope that makes sense! Thanks for the comment! :)
