*What makes this scene memorable is how well it portrays the power of Excalibur!* Lancelot and the villain are about evenly matched until Lancelot is injured after saving someone else. Lancelot Injured begins losing quickly and falls unarmed to the ground. As soon as he takes hold of Excalibur he gains an attack speed and force which overwhelms the villain and quickly slays him. Amazing to watch!

Absolutely. Furthermore, I think the underlying message from that scene also tells us that Excalibur sensed that Lancelot here is actually worthy of being king albeit he doesn't know it yet. Otherwise, Excalibur would not have given him that power to increase his attack speed and force.

Before Ben Cross and his men arrive, Arthur says "May God forgive me" about the trial of Ormond and Gere, but his body language seems to indicate he'll spare their lives. @violentofwakes11 Hollywood always likes going with an "All American" leading man in these films. They did the same with Prince of Thieves. They clearly think it brings in bigger box office numbers with the US market, so it's a commercial decision. Although Costner and Gere are OK, better casting could have made both films even better. The films lack verisimilitude with these actors coming in with their American accents. It looks and sounds weird when you're supposed to be in medieval England! I think they should have got a Brit to do it. There are many around who would have done a great job. At that time, they could have had Daniel Day Lewis or Ralph Fiennes or Liam Neeson or maybe Christian Bale to name but a few. One thing we don't have a shortage of in the UK is good actors and actresses. Even Timothy Dalton would have done a better job! What do you think?
@violentofwakes11
@violentofwakes11 7 ай бұрын
@@ejkalegal3145 All the above, I'm a big timonthy Dalton fan, and yes, they would; Ralph Fiennes would been great. I believe as you said, Big American Studios cast someone to draw the biggest audience and sell the most tickets. In America, film critics try to sympathize with actors like Richard Gere, saying he's a great actor who's never been a great film. A lot of British Actors like Richard Harris, Peter O’toole, and Sam Neill (New Zealand born but Culturally British are my favorite actors.
