Wait, did you say that the Enve have DT Swiss Hubs? I just bought this wheels and I didn’t see any option for DT Swiss Free hub body, it only shows the Enve Hubs? Where did you purchase?

I purchased the rims and had them built up with the DT 180 hubs. I don't think ENVE offers other hub options right now.

Nice comparison, thx. Can you let us know where did those dark-to-light fade ENVE decals came from?

Hey man, would be interesting to test out 25mm and 28mm on the Zipp's as zipp states they are optimised for both, even though the measurements seem to suggest that 25 would be optimal. Would also be interesting to hear your thoughts on tyre options as most manufacturers say 23mm internal is too wide for hookless 25mm tyres. Although I think that has to do with 25mm tyres needing higher pressures for heavier riders than the ERTRO advise for max 71psi on hookless rims.

I have already done some testing on the tire size. For the front wheel a 25/26 is much better (as long as your weight allows you run a 25/26 at under 72psi). Cross winds aren't as bad with the smaller tire. For the rear, just use a 28. Almost no performance difference, but more comfortable. Tire choices used to be slim, but now the new Specialized 2BR, Maxxis High Road, ENVE, Cadex, and Challenge tires all offer a hookless 25/26mm tire. I'm sure there are others too.

My Zipp 404s were 1530g. That was with tape, valves and XDR freehub. Did any of those wheels have a freehub? I'm guess by the weight of the Enves they had no freehub.

All of the wheels had tape and free hubs, but not valves. The ENVEs have DT 180 hubs with a Shimano HG free hub, so that is the correct weight.

why did you say only to run 25/26mm tires when zipp has the 404 fire crest hookless is no lower than 28mm?
@utahcanyoncycling

The 404 FC have a 23mm hookless inner rim width which means they are compatible with a 26mm tubeless & hookless tire. A 26mm tire will more closely match the 27.5mm external width for better stability. The 303 FC have a 25mm inner rim width and those one must be used with a 28mm tire.

Are the Enve AR 4.5 decals custom? From Enve or third-party?
@utahcanyoncycling
@utahcanyoncycling Жыл бұрын
They are custom, if you go to EVNE's website they have a link to the "Decal Builder" where you can make custom decals that are printed by EVNE's OEM decal manufacture and then shipped to you.

Don't feel like the wave shape on most wheels are making any difference, if not making things worse than simple round shape. I got that zipp did that as they probably did pay for wind tunnel testing and found this useful. But for most others, their wave shape rims simply looks like a ugly and uncessary copy from zipp and making the rim looks cooler. Besides, even zipp admit that 454 actually is slightly more draggy than 404 in terms of 90degree headwind situtation. You gain aero benefits, and then you will lose some, no free lunch.

Yep, I even mention that exact thing in my Zipp video.
