First Look: Football Coach: College Dynasty

A look at the game "Football Coach: College Dynasty" a game currently in Early Access on Steam.
In this game you manage a college football program in one of two game modes (single school or coach career mode) where you do things like set gameplays, run practices, recruit, and play games. Though this game is in early access, it has a ton of features and is currently both playable and quite enjoyable.

For recruiting, select "leader" in "current place in battle." You can narrow down who you can get easily.

If you call your own plays, you don't need an offensive or defense rating for your coordinators. Get training or recruiting, and this will help you more in the long term.

i started with utah and i let my coordinators call plays and up their skills in the offseason.after season 3 i took the wisconsin job and my OC took the ole miss HC job and my DC replaced me as HC of Utah.i wanted so much to bring them with me :(

Thanks - that's definitely a much-needed resource as recruiting (imo) is the most difficult part of the game to grasp.

I find a nice indie football game and it always seems to lead me back to your channel! Great content, will you be doing anymore videos on the game? or just the one to showcase it initially? Just going through my first season currently, the recruiting mini game seems similar to the points style recruiting from the old NCAA games just dressed up a bit differently so far

Thanks! I might do something else. Perhaps a playthrough or I might do a comparison with something like the Draft Day Sports College FB game as a comparison between something that's been a desktop game since the start (DDS) and something that started on mobile. Really like this one and am curious to see how it develops, so I might wait a bit to see what features are added before doing a follow-up.

@@HexedAndCountered Yeah I think the main differences seem like so far that DDSCF has more 'window dressing' and information to help with immersion which makes sense because a) it's been around longer and b) it's always been a PC game. Not sure how robust the sim engines are in comparison, I don't play out my games so can't comment there on either of the engines. Not sure how often this one gets updates as I read the dev is a bit like the PSF dev in the sense that he has a separate full time job to keep up with in addition to working on the game but look forward to seeing where it goes in the future!

Exactly. A lot of the guys making these games have a "real" job that pays that bills and doing game dev is kind of a side gig that sometimes get backburnered. Regarding the game engines, my guess is that DDSCF is more robust for the exact same reasons as it having more window dressing - it's been a PC game all along and has years of utilizing the better processing power inherent in that platform.

Just wanted to show you support! I think Football Coach: College Dynasty is one of the best sport games ever. I've been putting some videos out as well to try and bring more attention to it.

Love your wargame videos. What do you think of the SGS line? I've picked up a few SGS titles and really like them because I can just watch. :-) I'm a complete wargame idiot, so I set both sides to Advanced AI. Very interesting!

Thanks Carl. I have Pacific D-Day and did a few videos on it back in August (I think). I plan on picking up some of the others. If/when I do I'm sure I'll do videos on them. Currently have my eye on the just released Okinawa game because I like WWII Pacific games. Also looking at Korean War which is a bigger scale than what I've played so far, but looks really interesting.

Is there a way to disable the player pictures? It makes it look like a kids game

I don't think so, but I'm not 100% certain. If you're on Reddit, the dev is on there regularly and answers questions.

Initial start is a bit of a grind - you have to go through all the offseason/preseason stuff. That cycle repeats after each season too.
