Hi Sabina. In 2016 Dimash did a tour of Kazakhstan (25 cities) to mark the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence - the tour was called ‘Unforgettable Day’. His name Kudaibergen means „gift from god“ and truly he is. Listening to Dimash a part of the lyrics of the song „Music - John Miles“ comes into my mind: „music was my first love and it‘ll be my last“. In an interview Dimash‘s mother said that little Dimash went to bed with musictapes and cried when they wanted to take them away. What to say more about his dedication?

What beautiful commentary, Sabina, and I agree with every word of it. I saw a credible vocal coach who said that Dimash has to have a physical anomaly, which he compared to being double-jointed. So some small percentage of people would be born that way, but most would not. Then he would need to also have his parents' genetics that gave him the innate ability to be an exceptional singer. Then he would need to have the extraordinary fate of being born into such a musical family, surrounded by music and singing since infancy (possibly even earlier, as his mother began her formal operatic training while she was pregnant with Dimash, so he "heard" all that training and practice she was doing even before he was born). Then he would need to have the passion to dedicate his life, beginning in childhood, to rigorous training, education, and decades filled with hours of practice. Igor Krutoy recently said that Dimash sings in his sleep, which Igor would probably have occasion to know, and I believe it. The odds of finding this exact combination of factors again in our lifetimes is minuscule to non-existent. We are the fortunate ones who have only to enjoy the results.

There is some confusion about when he composed this song. Dimash said in English that he was 17 when he composed this song. He said it in an interview with Terry Lin that occurred after they sang "Unforgettable Day" at Jackie Chan's Movie event last summer. And then he also said in Kazakh when he was a guest at Terry Lin's concert in July of 2018. But, that one was translated. Bottom line is, Dimash said he composed it at 17 so if anyone should know, it would be him. I think possibly the confusion is that he didn't either have full lyrics to it yet or it wasn't until he was 19 that he first performed it in public. I don't know where the confusion is coming from. We may have to clear it up in the future. "My Beauty" which is Dimash's first composed song was also either done at age 16 or 17. Dimash is very humble about his composing and doesn't consider himself great at it. But I think over time, with all he is learning daily about composing and music theory and paired with his innate musical instinct that he is going to become the greatest composer of our modern times. He's only newly age 26. Imagine what he can accomplish in another 26 years.

Dimash composed this song at the age of 19 and performs at all concerts. Dears of all countries learned it and sihg together. The best performance was at concerts in Kiev 11.03.20 and NY 10.12.19. Be sure to listen! Thank you

Hi Sabina, So Glad you got round to this incredible performance, Amazing reaction as always. Dimash actually composed this when he was 17yrs old along with the full orchestral score. A lot as been discussed about his vocal ability and the unusual vocal chord thing but even at five years old the music teacher could hit any note on the piano white or black and he could instantly tell her what it was, also when any of the other children were playing for her and happened to play a wrong note, his teacher said he couldn't control himself, waving his arms and pointing at them, she said he resembled a floundering fish !! As you know his mum is an opera singer and when he was at home doing his piano homework he used to get annoyed and bang his hands on the piano telling her it was broken, eventually she got the tuner in and sure enough it was just slightly out on a couple notes. The point i'm making is despite his current vocal range and technical ability there must have always been something there that set Dimash apart from us mere mortals! What I've just related here is all documented on YT with interviews with his mum and music teachers from those early years. There is also an interview with his grandma where she says when he was 10/12 yrs old and had a singing test or a show at school the following day they would often be woken up at 3 or 4 o clock in the morning to his singing, she used to shout to him "Dimash what are you doing, we are trying to sleep" Dimash simply replied "I'm Practicing" What we are witnessing now is a young man with probably the greatest vocal ability in the world and we are so blessed. 👌👌👌👌😊😊💕

I told about Dimash whistle register last time but this time I'll give you an explanation for whistle register in general and I hope it's not too complicated. When you make any sound your vocal cords stretch and vibrate depending on the frequency except for two cases , the first if vocal fry which is the growl that you heard Dimash use in know and the Diva Dance, in that case the vocal cords are just slamming together to make a sound which why it's not really considered a note on the scale . The second case is whistle which generally means singing at least above ( D#6 ) that's or an octave higher than the highest female belting , in order to access the whistle register you need 3 things , great breath control & great control over the cords themselves & naturally flexible vocal cords . If you have those 3 things you can access the whistle register and that's how : somehow you use you dominance over the vocal cords to use just the back part and you focus all the air you can master like a laser beam hitting the back part of the cords to make that sound with very very high frequency which we call whistle . A side note the air you focus like a laser beam can be inhaled or exhaled and Dimash uses both techniques.
