This is what we would call “southern rock”. In the 70’s, music was put into boxes in many ways but interestingly enough, most of us listened to all of it because of how radio was back then. Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker Band, The Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, Charlie Daniels and a few others were in the same genre although some more successful than others. That is Gary Rossington. He is the only remaining original member still alive......this band has had more tragedy than any other band I can think of.

This band is so talented you cant fathom it until you see them live. Both videos are on you tube, you can watch them straight through, they won't block you. They must be viewed uninterrupted , to absurd the full impact of the music.

That guitar solo was played by Allen Collins and Gary Rossington. Lynyrd Skynyrd actually had three guitar players and they commonly played dual solos. Check out the song That Smell by Skynyrd it has some amazing guitar work.
