This is an unusually long video for MTB yumyum viewers.... if you ride the trainer, enjoy!! This was my first ride on the NEW Rocky Mountain Element back in November of 2021. I was worried I wouldn't have time to review this bike last fall do to snowy weather so I filmed the entire first ride.... This is the first video of this kind. It's sort of long.... hope you enjoy it!!

This is the indoor bike trainer I use. KICKR Core Smart Power Trainer: bit.ly/3HTRWKc I know this is a pretty different video for me. I watch a lot of KZfaq during the winter months while riding the trainers.... I figured what the heck and just published this crazy long video. Hope you guys enjoy it!! Please let me know if you do and I can publish more stuff like this in the future including trail riding stuff... just filming my rides of different designations or rides I do with my buddies. Thanks!!

As long as you label it as first ride live impressions, I don't see any problem with posting more (read: all) of these first impression videos. I actually really enjoyed watching these sorts of videos on the trainer and it's always interesting to hear the raw thoughts from a person's first time on the bike, especially compared to the "final" review. PS: For some reason I feel that putting out this "live first ride" video would be better done after the final review (or maybe at the same time?). There are lots of issues that we all have on a new whip solved by upgrading components but the first video you put out on a bike can really create a (false?) impression. Plus, I find it really interesting in the final review to hear how you solved certain feel/fit/suspension problems and what that did for your overall thoughts on the bike!

@@mtbyumyum I'm sure that a certain part of your audience won't care for this longer non-specific (rambling) type of content but as long as your title it correctly so that it can be avoided by that crowd easily I don't see the problem with them. Plus, no real need to edit the videos - just raw footage :)

Jason: FWIW I really enjoy this longer format, although I think you'd want to intersperse it with your typical shorter ones. Wow! What a trail complex only 1 1/2 miles from your home! The longer format allowed me to appreciate the terrain, quality of trails, gnar/flow, etc. Good stuff! On the climb, once you hit singletrack, is that a "climb only" trail? Seems it would be really sporty if not, especially once the vegetation fills out. Great background info also on you, your KZfaq efforts, and why you ride different bikes on the same trails. I personally think that gives you more credibility into how the bikes perform. Rubber side down! Rule #1 is FUN!! Good luck on your race this weekend! Hoping to see some video from it if you're able ... and how the Exie performs. 🙂

Hi Jason, love your channel, keep up the good work! I’m a beginner looking to buy either the Ripley, Ripley AF, Element or Stumpjumper. I’m 45, 5’6” 170 and looking to get into shape while having fun on the trails. I’m not a speed demon but would like a bike that allow me to work my way up from being a cautious rider to someone that can enjoy speeding down the mountain. Which bike do you recommend for a beginner like me?

You could do something like this for every bike you review and upload it to your patreon, easy content.

yeah, that could be cool. I have like 7 patrons tho haha would you rather watch it there or are you saying just to create incentive for people to support me there?

Informative, as usual but maybe too informative. Now everyone knows where you live.

hum. i didn't think about that.... does it matter if they know where I live?

@@mtbyumyum Here in the UK we have incidents where folk are followed home from ride and bikes are stolen later that day or during hours of darkness. Everyone watching your video knows where there's a house full of expensive bikes. Sorry to sound so cynical.

It would take anyone under 5 minutes to figure out where almost anyone lives with whitepages

Yeah, Nick Porter.... that was my same thought. besides, most criminals are only criminals of convenience. A quick grab of something out of the garage or some thing simply... not craft watching KZfaq to find a good score where they would have to literally break into my house.

I'm not sure that I understand why you'd have a first impressions and a test ride review on the same bike on the same week

I’ve been sitting on this footage for months. I never publish it cuz I didn’t think people would want to watch such a long video. Durning the live stream it sounded like people were interested. Don’t watch it if you don’t want to🤙
