We went on a big group snowmobile ride in Old Forge with some old friends where Zuke rides his new 2011 Ski-Doo Mxz XRS for the first time. I ride Zuke's sled too and describe what I thought of it.
This is Part 2 of a 2 part video on 3-1-21.

Great to see you squeezed in another Old Forge trip. While it's fun to have bigger groups of friends along, the breakdowns, frequent stops, riding preferences, etc. led us to sticking with our smaller core group.

Yes I did. The season started out slow and late but when it came on it was fast and lasted fir a decent amount of time. I figured Michigan would have the same weather that we did but I guess not. Hopefully next season is better for you guys and us too. I still have a bunch of riding videos yet to come so even though the riding is over for the most part, the videos aren't. Thanks Alan.

Looking back when I chose my 16 Blizzard 3 things stood out. The gauge package, 129" track length and the softer suspension/seat. I could have gotten a X package or a XRS but didn't want that stiffer ride and seat. People are surprised how well it rides yet stays very flat in the corners which is a big deal in Wisconsin with the tight turns. Over 8100 miles later I'm finally thinking about updating. I previously tried a 18 XRS and struggled with it in the turns(tippy) and the seat sucks. Tried a 2020 X package Renegade and was pleasantly surprised how well it handled yet stayed pretty flat in the corners. Would love to go with a renegade but then I'll need to update to a longer enclosed trailer. Soooo I'm hoping to win the lottery or just run it again since I did all the major maintenance on it going into this year. And with the wrap and all the other add-ons I did to it....I got it just the way I like it. Exciting problem to have! 😎

I agree all the way! I rode Gary's 2020 850 and another guys 2021 600 X package last weekend and got off both of those sleds thinking how much I love my Blizzard! I am just so comfortable on my blizzard. I am almost positive that I am getting a new 2022 sled at this point but I don't want to make the wrong choice, especially since I'm not keeping my blizzard. Thanks for the comment Rob.

Just bought a 2018 xrs850. It has a great soft seat. Rides beauty. No tipping in corners at all the 129" My 12 tnt800 is a 120 short track. She is glued into any corner. Impressive and so easy to throw around in the trails Need some more seat time in the 850. Have to play with all the suspension settings find that sweet spot. Im 240lbs so that extra poundage needs a bit stiffer set up hahaha Cheers

@@kyletracey5819 The 18 XRS is a great sled. It's the tallest XRS to date. Current ones are a touch shorter witch helps in the corners. My buddy has one with many updates! 2 of the best things you can do is get the clutch air box update and run a Carlisle XS belt to keep things cool and long running. Skidoo stock belts are pricey and don't last. I don't think you'll ever get your 18 to corner like your 12 nor will your 12 handle the big bumps like your 18. Each sled has it's nitch and both will give you lots of smiles! I still enjoy my short track Rev but once the bumps get bigger that feeling wears off and need to switch back with my son.lol

Hey Paiste...i commented before about the changes on the 2021 Xrs compared to the 2020. It is a very different sled than your Blizzard...obviously. I think you would grow to love a 2021..or 2022, but it will be a big adjustment

As for the review on the Xrs, I can see why the suspension would be stiffer, as it's a "ditch banger" but I would have thought it would be top of the line in the handling department. You always hear these guys on those snowmobile tv shows saying how the XRS handles like it's on rails. You were saying it was tippy. See this is why it's important to hear from guys like you that aren't on a show with the pressure to say how great something is. And no one mentions that the seat is hard. Makes a big difference if you're putting the miles on. Well thanks, because I was going to buy one of these older style Ski-doo Mx but wasn't sure what package to get. I was leaning to the "XRS" I guess after what you said I don't think it will be one of the options. What about the "Mxz X" Have you had any ride time on it? The Blizzard sounds like a good model, but I don't see as many of those for sale as I do with all the other Mx's
@Paisteboy
@Paisteboy 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks SMU. The Blizzard is awesome and people are hanging on to them. I do think the X package is more up your ally and truthfully mine too but they don't offer as many options at spring check and do have different shocks. The seat is much softer though and does effect the overall ride comfort. If buying used the X package is more suitable to more riders. Good luck.

Hey can you tell me how the 2011 xrs rides I’m looking at buying a 2012 wondering if it’s worth the money!! Thanks man
@Paisteboy
@Paisteboy 3 жыл бұрын
It depends how you ride and what you have been riding. Also, the price is the ultimate determination. The XRS has always been the mac daddy of the MXZ sleds but they are designed to be ridden hard so it's not for everyone. It does have the best resale value of the MXZ line up if it's an 800 or now the 850cc engine. If you like to ride hard and fast then it's the sled for you. They do have the best available shocks package of all the models but if you are looking for something a little more comfortable then I would recommend the X package. It still has great rebuildable shocks, a softer seat and is available in an 800 or 600 like the 2012 XRS was. The XRS is a great sled and gets better every year. I hope that helps Camden.

My son has a 2011 800xrs. He upgraded from a 600. Its a great machine. Comphy seat and good all around machine for trail or off trail. You wont be dissapointed. I have a 12 800 tnt. It sits higher and more travel then his 11 xrs. Just got into a 2018 850 xrs . First ride this weekend. Now that blew me right away ! The ride over end of season beat up trails was just like a caddy. Smooth and instant power ! Impressed me so much. These new sleds have tech thats amazing. 14k tho. You could have 2 wicked newer 800,s for that kind of money. Hope you get into that xrs. You will love it. You need studs 100% and if you can find a 129" at least you wont regret that either. The longer track makes huge dif over shitty bumpy trails. Good luck

@@Paisteboy Hey Paiste !! Let me add.. If anyone has some extra $$ burning a hole in their pocket you can always upgrade the springs on the KYB piggybacks to a dual rate spring kit, then you'll have the best of both worlds with a XRS. A much noticable smoother ride and no loss of big bump absorption.. It'll literally ride like a high end caddy and still suck up the moguls ;-)
