First roll through my new RB67. Lots of wins and a major fail

What’s up everyone. I’m super stoked to share this roll with you. I chose HP5 because it’s such a neutral black and white and I know exactly what it’s supposed to look like. I was actually able to mail the exposure on all but the first frame, so that was a bonus.
The heartbreaker was shooting two super beautiful girls I met using the flash for the first time and I left the dark slide in. I know you aren’t supposed to be able to fire anything off with the slide in, but somehow I did and both frames were blank. I guess it’s a right of passage to make this mistake and it turns out that I’m not in fact perfect. I have big plans for my second roll. It should be ready to view in a week or so. Stay tuned

To be the first roll, is very good. My favorite picture is the first of the old man. It is an excellent picture, the expression, the background, the skin tone value, specially with a color film. The girl looks like Cameron Diaz!!! Congratulation Joe!!! 👏👏👏

Superb to see you take advantage of the vertical framing option - which was one of your initial decision points. First time watching I was too immersed in the story and images to notice so had to take a second run through 😀

I appreciate the support. The rotations back is such a game changer. I’m shooting a model on the beach tomorrow and I’m preloading 3 backs. I love that I don’t have to do this on the sand or in the sun and slow down the flow of energy.

Love this first roll, Joe! You really made your subjects shine. Did you take these handheld, or from a tripod? I used to own an RZ with grip, they're such wonderful cameras!

I think I’m gonna use a tripod 90% of the time with this camera. I did get the left hand grip with a trigger button though, so shooting handheld will be easier if I choose to do it. All of these shots were taken with a tripod.

@@JoeLyman a monopod with this and the waist level viewfinder is a terrific combo with this camera.

I’ve been considering a monopod. I’ve almost never even used a tripod before, so this is all new to me. I like the idea of a monopod if I’m going to multiple locations in a short period of time.

@@JoeLyman I’ve gotten used to a tripod, I use it for nearly everything now. It’s easy and fast once you get used to it. I use a studio stand in studio. Monopod on location with an RB and the side grip is special though.

Super cool story at the end. I’m curious to know why you chose to get an RB? I have been eyeing them as well. I like how they are modular and you could shoot 645 or pick up a instax back with them. Great content as always!

I kind of described my decision process in my last video. Having now used this camera, I can say without any hesitation that it’s a 100 times easier to load the film into than the Pentax and the rotating back is a dream. As long as I’m not planning on changing out the back mid roll, I’m just keeping the dark slide away as far as possible from now on.
