"Ricer Glock" broke me. 🤣 And the bullet holes are ragged because it's a Glock Memory Barrel™. Previous owner most likely imprinted hollow points into its memory. The barrel "remembers" and tries to simulate HP, regardless of the ammo type you actually use. Perfection.

One time i was at Capitol Armory in Austin, and was molesting a SiCo Maxim9 and upon the first pull of the trigger made an audible exclamation of "holy hell that's the worst trigger I've ever felt!" Long, gritty, heavy. The portly gent behind the counter then began to extoll the virtues of abysmal triggers to me as a "safety" feature and referenced the NY Glocks as evidence. Never went back.

The funniest thing about the New York Glock trigger is how the NYPD’s lawyers kept blaming their shootings of themselves and others on the trigger being too light, so in defending themselves from accountability they wound up with that shitty Glock trigger. Hope it was worth it!

For Josh: I’m pretty sure he knows how to shoot exceptionally well. My advice to viewers is. If your grip is not correct, re holster try again. Insure you get a proper grip. Drawing should be a about a three step two speed process. High speed to grip high speed to acquire front sight Slow way down as you acquire the dot and press out. That said I will admit this is more a reminder for me than anyone else. Josh shoots now in a day than I do in a year.
@9HoleReviews
@9HoleReviews 4 ай бұрын
Agree that in the aspect of training, feeling what is 'right' at X% (somewhere less than 100) speed is extremely valuable as you're working into things. In fact, you can see an example of that in this episode where after confirming I wasn't really indexing correctly / applying correct grip pressure, I allowed myself a bit more time to perceive where the sight was coming onto the target...what you can't 'see' in the video is that on each draw after draw 4/5 is that I'm actually making adjustments to pressure and grip (in the support hand) to try and feel out where the appropriate pressure is to hit the index point I need.

"leading Expert" huh?... Meanwhile, the average austrian conscript who encounteres a Glock in his service time is able to do a fieldstrip+putting it back together of the P80 in around 30 seconds. Iirc back then i was not the fastest in my plattoon, and i did it in 29s flat. From loaded condition to stripped, back to loaded condition. And no, that "exam" was not done with live ammo and the one from the chamber was not just ejected anywhere, but had to be placed standing on the desk in front of us, but we were allowed to leave it there and not put it back into the mag. (the guy doing the "exam" next to me, did just eject the chambered round... it flew by my head. He lost 10-15 seconds in searching for it on the floor. He was marked down and needed a second try to redeem himself)

Most important thing I've learned about draw and fire practice is you need to work through any unexpected issue, especially with concealed carry. Did you draw fast and accidentally grip some of your shirt or maybe didn't clear it properly? DO NOT RESET. Work through the mistake safely and continue. If you do not train THROUGH your mistakes you wont know what to do when it happens. If you practice your CC draw and reset because you dont clear your garment you're making a vital mistake! This applies to OWB as well - If your grip is off on your draw.... work through it! Do not ever reset.

When I started working on Glocks in early 2001, I experimented with the combinations of the polymer inserts for the trigger spring. I actually prefer them, specifically the 8lb in concert with a 3.5 connector. The advantage is a smoother trigger. The insert pushes up on the cruciform, giving better engagement. It also gives a delrin surface for the cruciform to move across. The 8lb insert with a 3.5 connector gives an average pull weight (on a manual gauge) of around 5 to 5.5 lbs. The Gen 5 trigger spring system works similarly to these old inserts. A Gen 5 is basically a Gen 2 with a modified insert system and an accurized barrel.

You know....most shooters would do well to practice often with a VERY heavy trigger pull like a DA revolver with stiff springs. Once you train enough to be competent with the worst trigger in the world...which you CAN with practice...then ANY pistol you pick up you'll do even better with. Only shooting the very easiest trigger is like weightlifting using only the naked bar....progressive increasing resistance is how you improve.

I learned how to shoot pistols on my uncle's ex nypd g19. The 12 lb trigger was crap (still is) but it's not completely awful. I still shoot it every once in a while.

the glock jammed because the shell hits your optic. another reason to never run SRO's. it has nothing to do with range ammo at all.
@9HoleReviews

When the spent casing hit the optic, how did that then 'jam' ? (hint - it didn't - it's absolutely due to the energy equation when running comps and low power factor range ammo)

@@9HoleReviews looks like it bounced off the optic and landed right back into the ejection port. I'm not the OP but you can see the rounds bouncing off the SRO and brass going forward of the gun. Maybe I'm missing something but its exactly what it appears to have happened. Not sure why you're getting snarky with the guy....
@9HoleReviews
@9HoleReviews 4 ай бұрын
@@eobie3301 Thats absolutely NOT what happened...the casing never made it out from the ejector and was simply pinched back as the slide closed. Slowing down the slide speed with a comp is absolutely why that took place - it has 0 to do with the casing touching or not touching the optic (in this case it did not).

Now do the draw from a level III duty holster. At least we use stock triggers and night sights. All my Glocks have had the sights changed out, it’s the only thing I don’t care for about them. The stock triggers get nice over time.

Back in the mid 90's I bought a Glock 19 from a police detective and it had the 12Lb trigger. I hated it so I called Glock in GA and asked for their 5Lb trigger installed, the fellow said they would be happy to do so. He called me and said the trigger was installed and they installed their weather resistant parts in the frame, I asked how much I owed and he said NO COST! Great company!

I was a NYC police officer from 1974 to 1994. In the late 80's I was a firearms instructor at the NYC Police Academy when Gaston Glock introduced us to the Glock 19. At the time, Glocks came with a 3lb, 5 lb or 8 lb trigger. Don't know why, but the department went with the 5 lb trigger. I would've opted for the 8lb trigger as NYC cops were used to S&W Model 10 revolvers that had 13lbs triggers. Anyway, we started have negligent discharges that were blamed on the light trigger. So, we had all the police officers that had Glocks, come back to the range so that we could retro fit them with was the first of the NY triggers. I think, if we had just instilled better firearms safety training, that would've been better. But, who am I? I believe a second NY trigger came later. I don't know if they ever went over the 8lb trigger. I own a Glock 19 gen. 5 MOS. That, I believe is the Glock perfection. In my humble opinion.

I think the 12# trigger was the reason I initially hated Glocks. Once I got one with a normal factory trigger I have grown to love the Glock. What I don’t care for is the Glock haters that bitch about that lack of innovation. 🤦‍♂️ it was designed as a service and duty sidearm. It fits that criteria perfectly. If you want to “make it your own” you can but don’t hate the gun for being a basic functional perfectly capable firearm. It’s a pickup truck. If you wanted a Porsche don’t bitch about the truck you bought. The 1911 is the same gun basically unchanged for 113 years. Yet I don’t see nearly the level of hate. And people freely customize them with an entire industry supporting the aftermarket parts for them. Too many people want their “ideal” gun write out of the box. Here’s a clue. The ideal gun don’t exist. You either need to modify your gun or accept the current configuration. It’s that simple. Guns are tools not fashion accessories.

Just so you understand, the NYPD also issued the P226, and the S&W.5946 all have the 12lb trigger. Same with the off duty 9mm pistols authorized. Glock 26, p365

Not that I am advocating for the NY+ trigger, but you would be surprised just how well you can manipulate such a trigger with practice/ training. Josh switched over from his race gun and demonstrated this quite well.

Now several years ago I picked up a Gen 2 Glock 19 that was an NYPD trade in gun with these atrocious triggers in them. I tried it out once, ripped that policy mandated garbage out and installed the typical stuff and it's still the only actual Glock brand Glock that I own. For anyone who hasn't dealt with this trigger, it takes the typical 'squish' of the glock trigger and just makes it require more strength. It reminds me of the older SD9 triggers.

Remember, if you master a 12lb trigger, a gucci trigger with be even easier. If you only ever shoot gucci triggers, more often than not, you'll struggle with standard/milspec triggers.
