This Nagant Revolver is super weird... I thought it would be cool to record my first shots for you guys, and discuss some future content with it.

Welcome to the Nagant revolver! Oh yes, it is an anemic cartridge that drops like a rock. They're fun to play with for a while, but it'll soon end up in the back of the safe... forgotten. 🤠

The big thing stopping me from taking it out more is the cost of ammo.

Nagant revolver design has GOT to be my favorite design. So little recoil an just so unique overall. Every time I see one I think of the story about the russian squad that supposedly encountered a big foot in a cave an shot it dead. All the illustrations of the contact I’ve seen shows the officer popping off with that pea shooter an his soldiers blasting it with Mosins. I always think that officer better have been glad he had regular grunts with big Mosins.

Thx again for yet another no nonsens vid with an interesting gun. Fun info, due to the gas sealing, it's allegedly the only revolver that effectivly can be supressed. - You could try overcoming the "problem" with getting the ejecting rod back in place, by letting it stay in the chamber and then pushing it back out with the new round. Could work with ammo where the bullet is loaded to the top of the case. My tuppence worth (edit) that's a weird looking firing pin)

A lot of the modern production ammo is anemic but the milsurp stuff is relatively hot 108 grains at about 1100 fps (290 foot pounds). May seem anemic for now but in the late 19th, early 20th Century it was pretty comparable to other military revolvers of the time.

After some searching, I recently found one of these for a good trade and, as a revolver guy, really happy to add this into the collection. Luckily it came with (6) boxes of the Russian milsurp ammo. Haven't tried any of the PPU yet. Looking forward to the results and thanks for the reminder I need to get this one out to play

I got two about 15 years ago around $100 a piece and when ever I see one for sale now the are going for 3-4 times as much. I understand there are quite a few still being used all over the world. You've got to hand it to the Russians, when they make a weapon and a cartridge it's for the long haul.

@@8mmmauserman I have been collecting for 20+ years and there is always going to that sense of missing out but every once in a while you make a big score that you didn’t see coming and those times are extremely gratifying. I enjoy your channel. The three 8mm Mauser rifles I bought are all milsurp-Czechoslovakian Cz 8mm Mauser rifle. I have a Yugoslavian 48 and a Hakim. I think the 8 mm Mauser is one of the most underrated cartridges in the United States. He can go toe to toe with a 30.06 if loaded appropriately. I enjoy your channel. Keep it up.

I love mine, unfortunately the ammo is kind of hard to get, at least the surplus loads stuff. Might be better to reload for. Still really fun to shoot, even if I'm terrible with pistols. I would say that you should be careful with dry firing, can actually form microcracks. One of the few guns I actually got snap caps for

@8mmmauserman use your finger and push the front of the cartridge down when trying to eject. It sticks out of the cylinder on the front and you can push it much faster than using the built in tool. It will fall straight down and is much quicker.

It’s so cool, I want one eventually, but it’s one of the worstest pistols ever !! Sorry !! However at least she a 7 shot and the kick is like a 22LR but still a lil more powerful ! Of all the Russian pistols I’d go with, Tokarev then Makarov then Russian S&W new model 3 then the polymer 9x19mm they reportedly use today and lastly the nagant !! Still their so awesome just to own & target shoot with 🎉❤

The stiff trigger makes sense when you are wearing gloves on horseback in the Russian steppes, and and the reload isn't important when you charge in on your horse, fire, and get out to reload, and the original ammo was powerful for 1895. Now you have the propaganda from the War Ministry, a big step down from the Model 3.
