First Time Fletching My Arrows - Tac Vanes on Victory Vap TKO

I finally settled on the exact length, point weight and nock that I wanted to use so I trimmed off a little bit on my arrows. The half-outs were super glued in so I had to trim from the back. The wraps are from Tac Vanes and lighted nocks from Glory Nocks. I also changed my let-off from 85% to 80% and I like that a lot better!

Interessante q a maioria das flexas do hemisfério norte usam empenagens retas, enquanto nossos aborígenes as usam helicoidais, o que dá muito mais precisão no tiro, como mas armas de cano raiado, versus as de cano liso !!

I see you are running a right helical on your fletching. I found my Ventum Pro 33 has a natural left spin so I began fletching all my arrows with a left helical. Have you considered or do you have an opinion on this one?
@MasterofNone365
@MasterofNone365 Жыл бұрын
I have tried left, right helical and right offset and to me, I haven’t noticed a difference in grouping. I’ll keep testing and messing around with different setups. Have you noticed a difference? I think what affects arrow flight more is how much helical or offset you have. I’ve only shot out to 60yds so far but I want to try it at 100yds.

Fletched them really far down the shaft. Since you aren't shooting fingers you should really put your fletch as close to the nock as you can. It gives them more leverage to steer the arrow if you have any release flaws
@MasterofNone365
@MasterofNone365 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment bud. "Really far" is quite the exaggeration though. haha. They're actually exactly 1" from the end of the shaft, which is also the same distance as how they're fletched from the factory. I like to anchor behind my ear and the previous AAE vanes were making contact with my face. These new Tac Vanes don't so they're the perfect distance from the end for me. I could do some testing and shift them back maybe 1/4" but I doubt I'd see any difference in my groups. What setup are you currently shooting, man?

@@MasterofNone365 also i get that. My anchor is pretty high, so by keeping my nose touching the string i still have plenty of face clearance from my fletch. I anchor with my wrist underneath my ear and thumb knuckle on my jaw

@@DRIECUTHoney Hmm...that's weird. What jig are you using to fletch? I've used both the Bitz and Arizona EZ jig and haven't had an issue. I had 1 vane come off but that was because another arrow grazed the shaft and nocked it off.
@DRIECUTHoney
@DRIECUTHoney Жыл бұрын
@@MasterofNone365 I’ve got the bohning jug that’s similar to a bitz, and a helix tower jig. Had better luck with the tower jig, but I think the slots might be too wide? That’s all I can think of. The base on the tac vanes are small.
@MasterofNone365
@MasterofNone365 Жыл бұрын
@@DRIECUTHoney I'm no pro so I'm only guessing that the tower jig just puts more pressure on the shaft to give you better contact. I'm not familiar with the Bohning jig but I know that if you don't adjust the Bitz with the right angle, you won't get as much surface area pressed onto the shaft. You could try the Arizona EZ jig. I notice that it gives me more consistency. The only bad thing with it is that I do get some gouging on the wraps right next to the back of the vane. It's not a huge deal but it's annoying to see the wrap get torn.
