Magic Shop is one of my top 2-3 favorite BTS songs. It’s my dream to experience it live, in person. There is another performance of it that I love even more - they are all wearing navy suits with sparkles. That performance is truly magical (pun intended). And there is a third one where they are wearing very casual, quirky clothes that is great in an entirely different way. This song was inspired by a book called “Into the Magic Shop” by James R. Doty which presents a psychological therapy technique where a person brings their negative thoughts and worries to their therapist (the Magic Shop) and exchanges them for positivity and good thoughts. BTS is basically saying that when you’re feeling down and listen to their music, in your heart you’ll find a place to exchange your negativity and sadness for positivity, and you will feel better. For me, it is literally the “musicification” (as opposed to “personification”) of what BTS has done with their music, for their fans, for years. So many of us have been helped through hard times, inspired to make improvements in our lives, become better humans, etc., because of the messages in BTS music. It has been nice to see you come to love and appreciate BTS - even their rap. 😛😉

Be honest now, you're warming up to rap a smidge now...BTS rap just hits differently to western style rap. The lyrics are intelligent and speak to you in a way you can relate to with them. You won't be the first to enjoy BTS rap over others rap if you do. Magic shop is such a soothing, comforting song on days you need an escape from your own head and surroundings. Quick question. Many Armys find a song that resonates on a personal level with their own struggles or lives, have you found one yet that speaks particularly to you? My first one was Tear after my husband left me. Closely followed by I'm Fine. I played I'm fine on a loop until I got through it all and realised I was fine. It was my mantra during those dark days.

I am 73 years old. Several years ago I went through an emotional trauma that took music away from me. It made me incredibly unbearably sad. I quit listening to anything. Then my daughter introduced me to BTS (Bulletproof Boyscouts). I resisted at first and then fell headfirst down the rabbit hole. They saved me from a depression that otherwise I could not have escaped. They are much more than their music. The individual personalities, their unabashed admiration for each other and a work ethic like no other made me Army for life. I know this all sounds dramatic, but there are hundreds of thousands of stories like mine. Love conquers all.

The group consists of 4 vocalists and 3 hip-hop artists, so they'll always bring rap parts on their songs.

Magic Shop is my favorite song, I wished i had this song during a very difficult time when i was young. Thanks goodness i was able to survive that dark place. Even now that song is like a soothing balm to those old wounds and slowly becoming scars. But now those scars will not remind me of that pain but they remind me of BTS healing powers. There is no way not to get emotional with this song... they give us their experiences to help us survive ours. Beautiful empowering lyrics. 😊 You know? That's why we didn't like it when you "disappeared" from the screen 😅 you're transparent. The emotion (or lack of it) is on your face... and what we see resonates with our own emotions. At least, imho 😅

When people struggle to describe BTS in terms of narrowly defined genres, we say BTS is the genre. They are like mixed-media artists that use different materials.

South Korea has a very high teen suicide rate. This is very concerning to BTS, and they try very hard to reassure, comfort, and encourage young people who feel lost, and overwhelmed by social pressures. I think they do a great service to us writing songs that are intended to comfort and heal.

It doesnt matter what genre it is. There voices, dancing, songwriting and performance is what counts. Thank you again for your continual delving into these boys. Most of their songs have different music video, dance practice, live stage for each of their songs, well worth watching each, music video has more performances. Would suggest Black Swan, On (kinetic manifesto) The truth Untold, ifyo havent watched them yet.

Great reaction! BTS ability to go back and forth from singing to rapping included within one song amazed me as well. I love listening to ARMY sing with them. IN fact in concerts when they end this song Army sings back to them after they are off stage. they repeat the chorus two times. We all get blown away with these guys, esp. when we first find them. 💜
