I told my friends/co-workers that "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies" by Panic At the Disco is one of the best white boy songs I've ever heard. Now they're sending me song suggestions and I'm doing live reactions here, on the Trying White Music series lmao

Thank you. I would not have liked this song without getting into the lyrics. I want to know what that line meant: Somewhere on a toilet wall, I read the words *"You form a line to formalize the former lies,"* and I finally saw the truth Something so profound, and it was sitting there surrounded by The garbage and the stains, another victim of the refuse
@sabotage_my_o2748
@sabotage_my_o2748 6 ай бұрын
... seems to be a comment on the state of, for lack of a better word "society as a whole" were forming a line to formalize, or embed, the former lies and common ignored reality, such as that money has actual value and that were trusting governments to not just print billions to devalue different currencies... the truth is just sitting in front of us, surrounded be all the other bullshit, yet because we dont see through that bullshit, its just sitting there, an indirect victim of the refuse surrounding it, because all that surrounds it, hides the actual problem... comparable to someone trying to post anything scientific even vaguely close common conspiracies on twitter/x... what the original poster put into their post might actually be life changing information, scientifically sourced, true, whatever the fuck else positive descriptors... but the shit storm the truth has sparked because it was close to a common conspiracy, will just completely hide the actual fact, research, and work, as well as spawning at least 3 clones posting shit close to the original, that immediately falls apart when researched... another (in this scenario, entirely hypothetical) great work "destroyed by common people, with jealousy and ignorance, and all their common evils" @@itoibo4208
@Vel1ar
@Vel1ar 3 ай бұрын
@@itoibo4208 it means that people are ready to adopt pretty much any BS if it's required to keep their identity or to belong to some group they want to belong. First verse has line "Anything exceptional gets crushed by common people with jealousy and ignorance and all their common evils". So the whole point is people are ready to destroy anything they don't understand but also things they do understand but find even remotely threatening.

So they have 2 guitarists, 1 bass player, 1 drummer, 2 precussionists, 1 lead vocalist, and 2 DJs in a sense. It allows them to have a massively varied sound that they really draw from unsettling screeches and noises a lot.

If you're wanting more of Corey rapping, "Spit It Out" is a go-to for that. Most people will say "Do the Live at Download 2009 version" but do the album version first because then you can hear the lyrics and instruments better. After that, watch the live version.

I think the best part about Slipknot is that beyond their first initial shock factor most people get when they see them, they're actually extremely talented musicians who take their jobs very seriously. You say you would join Slipknot? There's millions of people who would, and wouldn't make the cut. These guys are masters of their craft, and do not accept anything less than excellence.

Slipknot definitely goes hard with their live shows, got 50 Cent over here cancelling his AZ show due to our heat but yet Slipknot will still come out in our heat full outfits and masks and just go hard as fuck. Seen them live about 4 times last two visits caused a fire and the bass was so loud had the whole place vibrating like if there was an earthquake. Love slipknot, can’t wait for you to react to other songs by them, they have so many great songs.

Two great songs to get into his music would definitely be "Dragula" and "Living Dead Girl" if you're up for it because I feel like you'd definitely like his music! He's one of the old greats of the metal genre and another one of the bands that were accepted by more mainstream crowds.

One I love watching your reactions. You are very authentic and it's a pleasure to experience songs (some I know some I don't) with you. I knew I'd like you when the 1st white people music you picked was the Killers and you didn't like them. I was a 90s teen and alternative rock fan from its infancy...I appreciate all artists regardless of genre, but I never was a fan of theirs 😅 You seemed to like the storytelling aspect from your Piano Man video so I'll give you some old country ideas (talk about white people music 😉). I'm staying away from real big mainstream classics, it's always fun to share what only locals know ❤ 1- Harper Valley PTA (1968) - Jeannie C Riley Tells of widow whose daughter skirt too short giving the PTA hell 2- Legend of Wooley Swamp (1980) - The Charlie Daniel's Band The band is household name (Devil Went Down To Georgia) but this song is a ghost story. I grew up on the edge of the Everglades so I relate. 3) Coward Of The County (1979) -Kenny Rogers- sometimes you can't turn the cheek 4) Boy Named Sue (1969) - Johnny Cash It's about a boy named Sue

hey as the resident slipknot nerd of these comments, slipknot have that weird sound and the sort of almost rapping because they're from the genre "nu metal" along with KoRn and system of a down, which is a genre surrounded by weird noises heavy music and rap style vocals (sometimes, the rap style vocals aren't required but they're popular in the genre) also the screeching was a sample played by their at the time keyboardist Craig Jones not a guitar sound
