I believe this clip is from the Porter Wagoner Show. Porter introduces Dolly saying that she has a nice little song for the audience. She’s actually singing it to Porter as a kind of fair well as she’s setting out on her own after several years on the show. There’s a full video on utube. I was at Dollywood this summer and they used this song as part of the light and fireworks show. It was Dolly's version all the way up until right after the spoken part, then it built to Whitney's version as the climax of the song. I burst into tears because I love both versions so much and it was just so moving ❤️

Coat of Many Colors is a great song to react to. It is autobiographical. She grew up dirt poor. Jolene is probably her biggest hit. She has a new album coming out soon called Rockstar that will be a bunch of duets with some of the big names of rock. It was really odd that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted her last year even though she was not a rock artist at all. One of the classiest ladies ever.
