Those people who speak badly about Elvis or even make fun of him, are the people who don`t know the first thing about Elvis Presley, the time he lived in, and all his achievements in his short life. Elvis Haters are ignorant and most of them will stay ignorant, not just where Elvis is concerned. Those who know more would never ever speak ill of him. And that`s a fact!

You just witnessed GREATNESS. Elvis is the GOAT. I grew up during the Elvis Presley era and was fortunate enough to see him perform live in concert. Elvis commanded the room the second he walked on stage he had a god-given gift. To all the haters you really need to educate yourselves. Back in those days music was made to have fun to bring joy to people and Elvis doesn't owe anyone anything.

My Mom was arrested at 9mths pregnant (w me😊) marching w MLK in front of a TN restaurant that didn’t allow Blacks to dine inside. This was her very favorite Elvis song, followed by In The Ghetto and then Walk A Mile In My Shoes. All 3 were played often and early in our home. Not merely songs but mantras- models by which my parents raised me and my siblings in a too-slowly evolving South. How incredibly blessed we were!!! If you’ve not seen it, HIGHLY recommend the minidoc (14mins) ‘Elvis & The Black Community- That Echo Will Never Die’!!! Shorter at 4mins but well worth a listen is Paul Harvey’s Rest of the Story- Elvis, Poor Boy & a Guitar. I honestly don’t think the man had an easy day in his life- as child or adult, unknown or famous, dirt poor or filthy rich😔 Always good to see young people discovering. SUBSCRIBED😊 Stay safe & love much💖

So grateful to people like you for standing up for him and fighting his corner. He's been so vilified and ridiculed over the years and his actual talent often overlooked. Without realising it, he had such an undeniable and powerful image which almost grew beyond all belief and outshone his talent (with most media and the general public) plus the effect of all those impersonators (back to the image). It's great that all these years after his death, he is being recognised for more than just his sideburns and persona. He thought, as he said in the movie, that he would be forgotten. Your reaction was emotional. ❤

As an adult, she recorded a few songs as duets with him. Could you react to this one: Elvis Presley - Where No One Stands Alone (Official Music Video) (3:41). After Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977, the African American newspaper, the Chicago Defender explained that: “When Elvis Presley breathed his last breath and the press hailed him as the ‘King of Rock,’ Ol’ Man River cried out, ‘Naw he ain’t! My friend Chuck Berry is the King of Rock. Presley was merely a Prince who profited from the royal talent of a sovereign ruler vested with tremendous creativity. Had Berry been white, he could have rightly taken [Presley’s] throne and worn his crown well.’”

And I'm so glad you saw the movie. 60 year old white dude here but I'm not sure why this has not popped up in my feed before but I did just subscribed and hit the notification bell. I've tried 3 times now to talk about how the movie only was the tip of the iceberg and there's so much so much so much more and about the way that the social justice movement was back then with the assassination and even in my own neighborhood but everytime it completely cuts it out like it's being censored or something. It is probably just a problem with my phone but it is really pissing me off man so I'll just say this right here and leave it be. But anyway thanks for this reaction for sure man.

P.S.: Elvis helped the great Jackie Wilson by boosting and supporting his carrier. In 1975 in his last concert, Jackie Wilson suffered a very severe stroke on stage and hit his head so hard that he was declared brain-dead and subsequently went into a coma. At that time, Jackie and his family were broke. When Elvis heard what happened to Jackie, he sent a bill to pay for his current hospital expenses and medical bills.

Elvis was human, he was not perfect. I think the lifestyle helped create a prescription pill problem. I wish he would’ve taken the time off to go get help. He wanted to the last few years, too many people relied on him for a living. He said that he had to keep on being Elvis. He gave so much back to this world and he was a religious person. Gospel was his favorite and another great song is you’ll never walk alone. 🙏

Christine O'Neal: That's absurd. The movie is pure trash and your obsession is disturbing. It is NOT a factually accurate representation of Elvis' life and career and Butler makes Elvis look like a pathetic wax figure from a Tussaud's knock-off museum. No real Elvis fan would ever approve of that movie and it's a shame that people like yourself have bought into the fakery and sensationalism. All you've really done is help line the pockets of that creep Baz Luhrmann.

The movie was good but please fact check it. It was very accurate for the most part but they did take some creative liberties for dramatic effect. For example, the 68 comeback special wasn’t supposed to be a Christmas show, but Elvis really did have to fight hard to do this song. Elvis financially supported a lot of civil rights groups, including Dr. King, but he couldn’t march with him. He had to rent entire theaters if he wanted to see a movie. People would have shown up just to see him and the purpose of the march would have been overshadowed. A lot of black people still think he was racist because of a story published in April 1957 by Sepia magazine, a WHITE owned tabloid aimed at black readers. They quoted a source as saying they’d heard that Elvis said the “only thing a [ethnic slur] can do for me is buy my records and shine my shoes.” Jet magazine investigated the story and determined it to be false but there are still a lot of people who believe he said that. It’s not unreasonable to say his presence would have caused a riot.

I have a book written by Steve Binder who was the director/producer of the '68 Comeback Special. Elvis' manager did want it to be a show with Christmas songs only. But Elvis agreed with Mr. Binder and others that it should take a different direction.
