Yeah same for me, i prefer tea but in my line of work i drink coffee as it has higher caffeine percentages and keeps me awake ( i am a nightguard) , but if i get vacations for say 2 weeks i don' t touch it until back at the job

I used to be very into coffee, and I've tried pretty much all of them so I'm familiar with Cuban coffee. It's basically espresso squared. Jamaican coffee is usually Kona beans. When I was heavy into coffee they were about $45 per lb. The "Kona" coffee you can buy at most places in the US is not real Kona coffee. It's extremely weak in comparison, which is why a lot of people consider Jamaican coffee to be scary. Nowadays, I like to drink a fairly mild 16 oz coffee once in the morning, that's it, and I can now sleep 8 hours at night.

Your opinion on coffee is perfectly acceptable; not everyone has to like the same thing after all. Personally, I absolutely love it! Especially in the winter after I come inside from clearing snow!

I'm with you on 'the coffee is gross' part... to me 'good' coffee smells nice but when the liquid touches my tongue all i can do Is regret my choice for the next few hours because no matter if I start chewing the mintiest gum in the world, I can still taste it's not-goodness. Luckily tea is widely available here as an alternative hot beverage.

You should try Turkish Coffee next time you're over in Europe...lol. And I was raised on coffee made by my Grandpa...who learned how to make/drink it in Panama. He was stationed in Turkey for a few years, and learned how to make Turkish Coffee. I've never had Cuban Coffee, but I'm willing to bet it's similar in consistency/strength to Turkish. And I like a small glass of Turkish coffee here and there...but no way I drink it regular! That's just too much! lol.

Coffee is an acquired taste, like licorice and (i guess) beer, you learn to like the taste, and usually it's learned at younger ages ... not beer at young age obviously. (at least, it is in the Netherlands.. or was for me and my family anyway) But i do get it tho, coffee isnt for everyone and you wont develop a taste for it from just a few sips every now and then, but once you like the taste.. it really is one of the best drinks out there. And yes.. i've made a similar mistake that our friend Fluffy made, about 30 years ago, living in a different town, i had a few Cuban friends who i'd visit regularly. Among our friends group, the rule was "you know where the kitchen is, help yourself" so one of the first times i was at my friend's place, i smelled coffee and decided to get me some. I rummage around for a cup, found a lot of tiny cups and a couple of mugs,the small cups were espresso sized, and i didnt want to walk back for 2 or 3 refills, so i took a mug instead. Returned to the room and was met with a few faces of "omg, he doesnt know does he?", sat down and took a nice big sip.... it was then that i knew i made a mistake lol. Now i didnt drink the entire mug, the guys didnt let me anyway, but yeah that one sip told me enough about Cuban coffee, so tiny cups it is! lol (it is great coffee tho, not kidding) Now mind you, i am actually used to strong coffee, the Dutch (in general) dont like weak coffee, we dont want see-through coffee, if we wanted that we'd be drinking tea! But even being used to pretty strong coffee... THAT cup-of-Cuban was on a whole different level of strong lol.

its espresso, that one little shot is the basis of pretty much every different coffee drink. for example that one shot is enough for a full cappuccino. if you were to water it down to a standard mugs worth, it will be roughly equivalent to a regular American coffee (but it will taste A LOT better.) I love coffee (now that I make it myself, always thought I hated anything but instant, turns out every place I ever tried it should not have been in business) but espresso is too much for me.

I'm not a regular coffee drinker myself but there are variations which are very enjoyable. For example a Latte macchiato is always a good option for those who aren't hardcore coffee consumers because this variation has more milk compared to espresso.

Latte macchiato is more a hot milkshake with coffee flavor than coffee. That's why also it's easier to drink, it's way more sweet

My late companion is from Lubbock. The Spanish speaking natives of Lubbock speak with a very distinct accent.. omg, i knew i was subbed to you for a reason. Coffee?? BLECH!! my Aunt drinks the stuff and so do both my Cousins, i despise it. if i need caffeine i'll get it one of three ways: 1 - Coca-Cola 2 - Wild Cherry Pepsi or 3 - MTN DEW Code Red. though i do have me a Dr. Pepper from time to time too, when the mood fits, i could do Iced Tea if i had to but by the time i'm done sweetening it, i may as well have had a soda! Arizona brand Green Tea is pretty good in a pinch though.

I had a espresso shot in Switzerland and they treated it the same way I gave me a tiny little thimble full basically and I was 17 at the time. Before I drink the first one I tried to order two more they refused to let me order anymore until I drink the first and then about 10 minutes later they let me order more. They were so shocked that I was able to handle it like I was. They didn't know I started drinking coffee at two and a half months old.
