Lyrics
Love is a burning thing
And it makes a fiery ring
Bound by wild desire
I fell into a ring of fire
I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down and the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns, the ring of fire
The ring of fire
The taste of love is sweet
When hearts like ours meet
I fell for you like a child
Oh, but the fire went wild
I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down and the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns, the ring of fire
The ring of fire

These guys are five unique talents. They make you forget that there are no instruments. Two great bass singers in one song - that's phenomenal. It gives this song a special touch. June Carter was already married when she met Johnny Cash. She fell in love with Johnny and realized how bad that was. She wrote the song expressing her feelings about already being married, and thus wearing a wedding ring, and falling in love with someone else. The flames of passion can also burn. The more she fell in love, the deeper she went into that relationship, the hotter the flames grew, the more she felt the burn from the ring around her finger. She divorced her husband, married Johnny Cash, and he recorded her song, "Ring of Fire".

This was the 2nd song I heard when I discovered Home Free last year. It is done in a reggae calypso beat. It showcases the higher & lower ranges of both Tim & Avi. That last note of Tim is impressive with how low he goes, but more impressive is how long he sustains the note. On the "Sing Off Show" (without Avi) Tim goes even lower & he impressed the judges so much that they gave them a standing ovation. And Adam once again was stellar in his vocal percussion.

Yes....they are HELLA-Talented! If you look up Home Free's performances on the "Sing-Off", you can see them do this song LIVE. It's even better than this..and Tim sings even lower!! They got a standing ovation from the jydges... including Shawn from the group "Boys to Men". You can see they are all A Capella. I know its unbelievable that they are so incredibly talented. Also, one another thing that may give you an idea of how real it is is to watch "Adam Rupp's Drum Solo". Its an older video but it shows part of one of their LIVE concerts where Adam shows some of his beatboxing skills. I understand that it's hard to believe...because they really do sound better than alot of artists out there that use instruments and autotune and everything. But they really are just THAT good. They are something else for sure! Cant wait to see you react to more!

Love acapella groups. The top 3 are Pentatonix, Home Free, and VoicePlay. All 3 are fantastic in their own rights but very different in style. As person put it... PTX are the student council. VoicePlay are the theater kids Home Free are the ones that are having a tailgate party on the football field. Now that you've been introduced to Home Free and PTX please try VoicePlay if you haven't already. Try their Halo Theme song or Hoist the Colours from The Pirates of the Caribbean. Queen in 5 Minutes and Carry On My Wayward Son are great as well from VoicePlay. Loved your reaction keep it up.

Home Free and Pentatonix are legit. Both of those groups won the NBC show the Sing Off, Home Free won in 2013. They can all sing. It’s the beatboxer who makes the difference. You don’t need music when you have Adam. Check out Adam Rupp Drum Solo (2015) and see how he does drums with his mouth. All the “a cappella” sounds are done with the mouth. They can all beatbox to a degree. They can sing any genre and they all take the lead depending on the song. Try End of the Road to hear more great harmonies.

Avi Kaplan was bass in Pentatonix and they was in the same contest but 2 different years. Thats how they gott to now eatch other. The man in cowboyhat was Chris Rupp that started Home Free with his brither Adam Rupp the beatboxer. About Home Free There are not many bands where 4 out of 5 can sing lead !!! But these guys do. The others have also learned a bit of beatboxing and have had small duels on stage between each other. Very special people with very special talents and very down to earth with a twinkle in the eye. The five founding members were brothers Chris and Adam Rupp, Matt Atwood, Darren Scruggs, and Dan Lemke; taking their name from a boat owned by Atwood's grandfather who helped support the group financially in the early years The group began in 2000 as a hobby for the singers, but they gradually gained in experience and popularity. By 2007 they had enough of a following to pursue music full-time. During this period, the Rupp brothers and Atwood formed the core of the group, with Atwood singing lead tenor. Other members of the group came and went. They competed in an A capella TV competition "Sing Off" 4th season and won big !!! They won the TV competition the year after Pentatonix !! Then Chris Rupp was also there instead of Chance. Adam and Chris started the group in high school. Chris is now making his own career and started another band called 7th Ave whit his sister Tristin Rupp (sister of Chris and Adam) and 2 others. Here are the current members of Home Free: Adam Rupp :beatboxer that’s leaving everyone in complete disbelief as to how he could imitate an entire sound system by only using his voice and is the best in the entire US and soon in the world as he continues to develop it. He started only because they needed one. He also has his own solos in the shows. It is only then that most people understand that it is his mouth sounds from drums, harmonica and lots of other things. He also has a clear tenor voice that is used a little now and then. Adams fellow band members affectionately referred to him as a “freak of nature.” because of how he transforms from a singer and vocal percussionist into a human musical instrument. Born on April 23, 1982 Mankato, Minnesota. Graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2004 with a music performance degree in trumpet. Tim Foust: is not only bass but instead read 1 Oct lower than other men as the lowest tones are vibrations but the total range of his voice is a full 5 octaves !!!!! That is, from the lowest base to the highest tenors. He has also collaborated with a guy named Peter Hollens in songs like Misty mounten and Sound of silence. Born on July 19, 1981 from Lubbock,Texas but was raised in Nederland, a city in Jefferson County, Texas. In his early years, he attended Lamar University as a pre-dental major until the day he could no longer fight the music itch. Recently, the Nederland native was also inducted into the Museum of the Gulf Coast Hall of Fame due to his influence, talent and vocal range. He joined the likes of Janis Joplin, Tracy Byrd. First sang with them as a guest on their 2010 tour. A Texas native, Foust was then pursuing a career as a singer/songwriter of country music and had recently released a solo album, but was not ready to sign on full-time. Matthew Tuey sang with the group in the interim of 2011, until Foust joined them full-time in January 2012. Rob Lungquist: lead tenor with Swedish descended who has an angel's voice with a beard like a lumberjack! His second talent is to whistle tunes! He can also beatbox a bit. Born on June 2, 1983 and comes from Minnesota. He has a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He joined Home Free after his graduating in 2008. He moved to Minneapolis, where he worked at the Guthrie Theater as a bartender, and he used to sing for a fellow Minnesota-based group called Four Shadow. Austin Brown: High tenor with a unique voice that is finished with country stucco on. Absolutely incredible man. Born 22 maj 1986 and comes from Tifton, Georgia. Attended Oklahoma City University, majoring in Music Theater. In 2012, Austin was working on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship as a featured singer in their production shows. When Home Free joined the cruise as a guest performing group, they met and became close and he let Home Free know that he would be interested in joining the group if they ever had an opening. At the end of 2012 lead singer Matt Atwood retire and Home Free then invited Brown to join as lead tenor. Adam Chance (called only Chance): baritone but also bass when Tim sings lead. We're just starting to understand his voice ability and wow what a voice. On March 18, 2016 it was announced that, after sixteen years performing with the group, co-founder Chris Rupp would be leaving to pursue a solo career. He would be replaced after May 8th by Adam Chance, formerly of Street Corner Symphony. Born May 24, 1984 Chance is a native of Baldwin County, right across the bay from Mobile. He stayed in Baldwin County until his early 20s. His mom still lives there until today. He is a former journalism and music student at the University of Alabama. All five of Home Free's singers have formal musical training. Lundquist and the Rupp brothers all have bachelor's degrees in music. Adam Rupp's primary instrument is trumpet. Home Free's styling as a country group is relatively recent. Before Tim Foust joined the group, Home Free was an all-purpose a cappella group, singing in a wide variety of styles, of which country was only a minor one. With the additions of Foust and Brown, the group moved more in the direction of country and found that audiences responded well to it. Home Free had auditioned three times for The Sing-Off (without Foust and Brown) and not been accepted. When auditioning for the fourth season, they made a conscious decision to style themselves as a country group. In an interview Brown said this identity is what grabbed the attention of The Sing-Off’s casting director, who said, “You guys really fit something we don’t have.” This band can not even been describe properly so ignore what title they are under… for them they are the only one in their category in the whole world !!!! Home Free converts songs to country a capella everything from Avicii - Wake Me Up to Johnny Cash "Ring of fire" etc. To understand what these are, you should check out their live recorded shows… because you do not understand them before there. Their own song videos are absolutely wonderful. You can laugh yourself to death and you can cry from recognizing heartbreaking ballads. They have released 14 records from the startof Home Free and Home Free's 2014 album “Full of Cheer” was released as “Full Of (Even More) Cheer” in November 2016 and debuted at number two on Top Country Albums with 13,000 sold, the band's best performance on the chart at the time. But the album "Timeless" came in 2nd place on the country Billebord list the first week !!!! Everyone placed high on Billebord country lists at the record release. Then you should know that the fans are significantly fewer than, for example, Blake Shelton or Kenny Rodgers. Kenny and The Oak Ridge Boyes contacted them and have collaborated on several songs Their shows are so much fun and you get involved when you go to their concerts. Be prepared for lots of laughter. They do everything they can for their fans and the fans do everything they can to for the band. The fans are called “Home Fries” and there kid fans are called “Small Fries”. There are many examples of how good and cordial it is between the fans and the band. The latest came up due to Hurricane Harvey. It hit where Tim Foust comes from and he has his family and friends there. They did not get much help. So Home Free started a “Youcaring” account where they deposited $ 20,000 and asked the fans to match… it took just under 4 hours and the fans asked them to raise the limit. They raised it to 100,000 dollars and of them we fans have reached this and find out via Facebook and pictures of how they where used. They also made a song with pictures from the fans about this. Everything from that song goes directly to the collection. They work with people they know on the spot so they know that all the money that comes in goes straight there. They were surprised at how much the fans line up and helps with which they should not be at this point as we have proven that we help when it is most needed. Another little story between the band and the fans happened during an outdoor show where they had to cancel after 3 songs due to thunder and rain storm. The fans gathered in a large pavilion to wait and see if they can play more. Then they see the band coming walking in thunder and rain up to them… stand on a camping table and say that they unfortunately can not continue the show but that they would occasionally sing an unplugged song that was incredible even before. This time it was accompanied by thunder and rain. wanna know how Adam duss his beatboxing? You can always check out live performances if you aren't sure. Only recently they started to use a livelooper on stage for some songs but not all and then only for certain parts of the song. Anything from 2016 until about a year or 2 ago, no live looper and they sound just as good if not better live. No instruments unless they are partnered with another singing group that does instruments. Adam Rupp the main beatboxer is the best around at what he does. But then the other guys do sounds as well....Tim Foust mimics a bass guitar perfectly and can make subwoofers cry. Adam Chance can do a funky guitar sound and also does the weird droning sound in Man of Constant Sorrow. Austin Brown does harmonica as well as Adam Rupp does and also can do an electric guitar sound. And Rob Lundquist does some beat boxing and is a master at whistling (sounds strange I know but they do use it in songs) These guys are all vocally trained and have years of experience and a deep love of A Capella music not to mention crazy ranges. Tim alone can cover 5 octaves so yeah...they can do just about anything they want.

Tim Foust, the guy who finished with the real low growler note at the end, also did an early lead up into mid-tenor. He has a really wide range. Adam Chance, the baritone, also sings bass and some mid-tenor. Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, also sings tenor and has a lot of beatboxing tricks to get extra low and high ranges and a bunch of interesting sounds, like the harmonica you heard on Man Of Constant Sorrow. Austin Brown, the tenor with the long hair, has a very high range and can sing a number of famous country songs in the same range as the original female singer. Rob Lundquist can go almost as high and has a really bright country/bluegrass sound to his voice. So this band can produce 5 tenors at once if they want, or 2 basses or 2-3 baritones. The other members can beatbox some also to help out Adam Rupp when gets too busy. Chance can do harmonic overtone singing, which is how he did the Jew's harp on Man Of Constant Sorrow. That's a lot of talent in one group, so it is bound to be confusing at times. Then they added Avi Kaplan (bass to low tenor) from Pentatonix for this song, so they had even more flexibility to move people around musically. They have each invested decades in training their voices to gain extra range and ability.

This is a song about falling in love....It literally says it in the first 2 lines...."Love is a burning thing...And it makes a fiery ring"......This is a cover of a Johnny Cash song, written by his wife June Carter.... This is 100% Acapella....Watch some of their live performances on "The Sing Off"..... These boys all have crazy vocal ranges.....Tim, the bass of the group has a 5 octave range.....When time goes high, one of the others go low....They also perform a variety of styles, but all with a country twang to them.....I would recommend checking out their version of "Mary, Did You Know", "Do you hear what I hear", and "Sea Shanty Medley".....If you want something a bit funnier, check out "The Butts Remix", "All about the bass by Meagan Trainor" and their live "Guilty Pleasures" videos.....

The trifecta of a capella, Home Free, is country, PTX is Pop and Voice Play are the theater kids of a capella. Although all three groups can (and do) any genre they want.

I'll simply add my two cents and say, watch the live video of Adam Rupp's solo, it will remove all doubt. Also, they sound better than auto tune, because they have talent.

Home Free works very hard to show case each of their members. So the same member isn't always taking the lead. And yes all a cappella. Adam Rupp is extremely good at what he does.

Hi there. New subscriber because I have seen a couple of your videos over the last two nights and I like what you do. Especially with Home Free. I am a serious homefry. I don’t usually watch AGT or BGT or the X factor but my ex-girlfriend used to watch all of that and the one night she watched the sing off and I asked what it was and ended up watching it with her and that’s where I first saw Home free and ever since then I have been a fan. Thanks for what you do because you do them so well. Take care and blessings to you from England.

Watch Home Free on the "Sing Off" an acapella competition where they couldn't use anything besides their voices. Also, there are KZfaq videos of Adam Rupp showing his beatboxing talent and how he does it.

They do have fun with their ranges 😅 And you should definitely check out Adam Rupp’s Drum Solo : ) He’s practically a sound machine! And while in studio recordings they have many benefits including sound isolation, and occasionally double tracking, they’ve gotten incredibly good at using their voices, and can replicate almost everything live, for Man of Constant Sorrow they use live looping(In recent tours, Adam has also used live looping during his drum solo) You know Avi - old bass for Pentatonix(He’s got some awesome solo music too! Maybe “Change On the Rise” if you’re interested) And if you’d like another name guide for Home Free: Percussionist: Adam Rupp (His brother started the band) Old Baritone in the cowboy hat the whole video: Chris Rupp (Founded the band, and left on good terms to work on solo projects) New Baritone(not in this video, but with short dark hair and beard in Man of Constant Sorrow): Adam Chance(called Chance) Bass: Tim Foust (shoulder length brown hair in older videos, shorter brown hair with gray patch in newer ones, but usually pretty recognizable for his bass) Tenor with glasses and the long beard: Rob Lundquist : ) Tenor with long curly reddish hair: Austin Brown!

This song was written by the wife of Johnny Cash. She was a shy, church going girl & fell in love with the original "man in black". It was a Ring of Fire because her parents disapproved, Johnny's behavior wasn't the best & she was emotionally caught in 2 worlds, or "a ring of fire". Eventually, Johnny became an avid Christian and they were a magnificent couple in the world of country & gospel music! Their daughter, Roseanne Cash, is also a singer - mostly country.

Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, is incredibly great. How they are doing that? well Home Free has been an acapella group established for 20 years. These men have been honing their craft for 20 years. Not sounding like 'acapella' is why Home Free, and even Pentatonix are well-love. You need to watch their live performances if you need proof that the music they do is from human voice.

Adam Rupp is truly the best beatboxer(and more) ever. He can make sounds you can't imagine coming out of his mouth. But sometimes it's in combination with sounds/beatboxing from the other group members that makes it complete. Watch and listen to a live video from HF where you can see a part of the song From 9 to 5 where all the members are beatboxing

June Carter wrote this song while she was still married. The ring of fire was her love for Johnny Cash. Yes that’s really all them. It’s sounds like a different group because they do lots of genres. No they don’t use auto tune. They do this live in their concerts. The next one you need to hear is When A Man Loves A Woman. It’s a different genre too.

Home Free is indeed all A Capella and they do all the sounds you hear without instruments. Dive on in and do so some more Home Free. Most of us don't bite. Check out One Man Band and Take Me Home Country Roads. Oh, and definitely react to Adam Rupp's drum solo.
