Jimi was playing the guitar with his teeth. If you go back and listen closely, you can hear the difference between using his pick and using his teeth. More importantly, he is considered the greatest because he drastically change rock music forever. His music was light-years ahead of its time. He was a master showman whose influence is still felt today.. He also experimented with sounds and feedback which no one has really duplicated since. The 60s were a very volatile time with protests, riots and the war in Vietnam. If you listen to The Star Spangled Banner from Woodstock, he somehow captures that feeling. Btw, every sound he makes is intentional designed to bring out different emotions.

When Hendrix came on the scene, the whole world’s mouth dropped. He was unbelievable. Jeff Beck recalled thinking “Oh great. I’ll have to find a new career.” This year, Brian May was voted “Greatest Guitar Player of All Time.” That Jimi was named #2, 50 years after his death, at only 27 years old, speaks volumes. Imagine if he’d had another half century to improve his skills. Of being named #1, Brian May said in part; "Well, it is very humbling. Jimi is, of course, my #1 & I've always said that." "To me, he's still something superhuman. It's like he really did come from an alien planet. I will never know quite how he did what he did” & that every time he goes back to Hendrix, he's "thrilled & stunned" saying he’ll never stop learning from Hendrix. "I get that feeling all over again, like either I'm going to give up playing the guitar, because I can't face up to this, or I'm gonna really have to get into it in a big way and try & do what is in my own body and soul."
