Kenny's vocals are amazing - one of the best of that era. His first solo album was Celebrate Me Home and there you can hear actual melodies (like this song), great song-writing skills and of course, more fantastic singing. While songs like Footloose (made for a movie soundtrack) were popular, he shows more than just singing ability in other lesser known songs. His popularity started with his music partner Jim Messina as Loggins & Messina which was great but once that partnership dissolved, the Celebrate Me Home album came out and in that album he was somewhat on a par with my absolute favorite, Stevie Wonder. This started out as a love song. But his dad was battling an illness. So he wrote this song about him to not give up and push on. His father lived for another ten years after this song was written. Makes me think of my dad who passed away 6 months ago today. 😭 Kenny is one of my all time favorites musicians. Such talent!
