I had to have an emergency C-Section with my son. They must have played this song in the operating room or in the recovery room, because every time I heard this song after, it reminded me of my sweet Son. But, the only difference is it was I've Been Waiting For a Son Like You, for me LOL Not Girl!! A few years before, as a teenager, I had a baby boy who I had given up for adoption, so I related to the song, when it said "This heart of mine has been hurt before", it was so true for me. 4 years ago, that other son, found me on Facebook! We all had a huge reunion together, brothers, sister and me! This song!!!

The 80's songs were about vulnerability - that feeling we could all relate to as teenager. Before internet and social media, and we were still allowed to feel whole beautiful feeling of discovery in our own way - pain of first unrequieted crush , frustration with our wings clipped when we want to fly, dreams, friends, thoughts to the plans ahead - a diary. Not drugs and guns. Those were great times to grow up. The music was was optimistic - as was our OTT (over the top) fashion. I miss the 80's!

This was THE song for slow dancing with your crush or boyfriend when I was in high school. To this day, at 54, this song gives me the warmest, fuzziest feelings as I go down memory lane. Lou Gramm's voice is perfection. This song was on the album Foreigner 4, which IMO, was their last great album. I suggest "Urgent" if you haven't yet. Thank you for making me very happy. xo

This IS the original version with the great vocalist Lou Gramm. This was their first big ballad hit. Up to this point, they were known primarily as rockers. Afterwards, they became well known for their versatility, scoring both big rocker hits and big ballad hits as well. This was one of the Foreigner songs my late wife and I danced to at our wedding. The other was I Don't Want To Love Without You, another of their big ballads. Still gives me a lump in my throat every time I hear either song. BTW, I don't know if you are aware of the origin of the name Foreigner. Half the band was British and half the band was American. They called themselves Foreigner because no matter where they were performing in the world, someone in the band would actually BE a foreigner!
